  1. Yes, that appears to been the problem. It appears it was on 'hard/cold' water settings, ie winter. Changing it to 'wet season' thawed the lakes out. I guess once snowy cold weather returns to my flying destinations, I will need to set it back. Thank you all!
  2. Thank you both for your replies ... If there is an option, I don't know where to find it. I looked, but failed to locate that as an option. Andy, oddly, your link doesn't work. The www.simforum is apparently for sale?
  3. I am experiencing an unusual scenery problem which I have yet to stumble on a resolution. Hopefully, someone here has had simimlar problems and have successfully resolved them, or perhaps can use their knowledge of FSX and it's addons to determine a possible cause. My smaller inland lakes appear to be frozen over, even in the middle of the hottest summer days. See the attached picture. I am using: FSX + Acceleration GEX North America v2.10 UTX Canada v2.0 UTX USA v2.0 REX4 Texture Direct 4.6.2016.0622 Active Sky Next 1.0.6011.15407 Build 6011 DX10 Scenery Fixer v2.11 Any thoughts on how I an get my smaller lakes to look less like glaciers or icepacks?
  4. Flying over the Gulf of Mexico today on a flight between Phoenix and Tampa, I found that their was no water texture for the Gulf. What was supposed to be water was land. What could the cause be? I use REX 4 Direct, GEX, UTX Canada v1.0 and UTX USA v2.0 My basic scenery structure reads like this... Recently purchased SimAddon sceneries Striking Software: PW freeware sceneries A good collection of Art Poole freeware airports FlyTampa St. Maarten FlyTampa Tampa FlyTampa Buffalo FlightBeam SanFrancisco SunSkyJet Philapdelphia FlightBeam Phoenix FreeMesh X (All series and patches) UT FSX Waterclass UT FSX Object Repositioning UT Canada Ground Polygons UT Can Streams UT Can Water UT Canada Railroads UT Canada Roads UT Landclass - Custom UT Landclass - Urban UT Landclass - Vegetation UT Canada Lighting UT Exclusions for Default Scenery FSX Default Second Question ... I had installed UTX USA, yet I see no entries in my scenery library. I figure I'd see some entries similar to those added for UTX Canada. I have a directory in my root Microsoft Flight Simulator X directory called "Scenery" I'm not sure what it's contents are, but it contains UtCan, UTUsa, AFRI, ASIA, AUST, BASE, Cities, EURE, EURW, Global, NAMC etc. Is this directory supposed to be here? Or is it part of (or a portion of) the Addon Scenery Folder?
  5. Jim, fabulous answer with lots to digest. I truly appreciate the effort put into your reply. Well thought and presented. Personally, I am leaning towards a graphic card problem. Either a hardware issue (I have been geeting new unexpected graphic spikes lately while panning around on the ground), as well as graphic related crashes on bootup. It maybe driver related, but because of the older card, I can't update to the latest 660 drivers. Perhaps my first step is as you had suggested is to disconnect the older card, update the river, and see what kind of results I get. Thanks all!
  6. Hi Jim, No to SweetFx or ENBSeries.
  7. Hi Jim, thanks for your reply. Reinstalling DirectX was kind of a challenge. Microsoft's auto installer refused to reinstall (apparently you can't uninstall DirectX from Windows7) something that was already "up to date". Ended up having to download Directx redistributables (June2010??) from Microsoft and "install" that way. Whether it did anything worthwhile, I don't know. I continue to experience the same problem.
  8. My apologies if this post is in the wrong forum ... it was a choice of here or in a hardware forum. I trust that if this is inappropriate for this forum, it will be moved. I have recently started to encounter FSX crashes. After several minutes of preparing my PMDG 737NGX on the ground at KPHX (FlightBeam), my computer display will go black, and the computer system crashes. My only recovery is to physically reboot my system. Since I'm just learning the 737, it's a disappointing loss of time preparing all the intricate details of flight with this aircraft. I hope someone with some experience and/or understanding can shed some light on the likely issue, and perhaps provide some advice and guidance to avoid or eliminate encountering it again in the future. 9. Yep! That was indeed the problem. One two may characters in my email address. A simple edit to my account settings and within minutes a verification email. Thanks!
  10. I have registered with a support account with PMDG. On the support/account webpage I have an outstanding alert which states: "Your account has been registered but not verified. Follow the instructions in the email that was sent to you. To send the email again, use the Send Verification Email button." After a couple days, I have not received any email yet despite a few tries. (Nothing in my SPAM box either.) Will the fact my account was not verified affect the status of my support ticket? 11. Where is the SEL temp displayed in TopCat?
  12. To apply reverse thrust to my PMDG 737NGX with my Saitek throttle quadrant, I have assigned switch 21 (which is the position below zero in the red zone of the left outside black lever). In the settings, repeat is maxed out to the right. I lever works fine for positive thrust, however, as soon as I engage the reverse thrust, buy dropping the lever into the red zone (trigger switch 21), I am no longer able to regain positive thrust with the lever. The lever moves freely, but there is no action on the PMDG's thrust levers. The only way I am able to have them move forward is to use F3. This is annoying. I'm guessing I don't have my throttle quadrant setup properly. Is anyone able to help me regain positive thrust with the lever after the reverse thrust is engaged without having to rely on F3, rather just by moving the lever forward (which would be expected).
  13. Please refer to the attached video files to see what I am experiencing. (My apologies ... 120MB download from my smartphone camera) I can only record this externally, as FRAPS and other video capturing software doesn't catch it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9EE-tbOy4bJWURhNDdjTGZQMVU/view?usp=sharing As I pan around the artifacts will increase or decrease in intensity. I can get this from both internal and external views and is not isolated to any one airport or aircraft. Eventually the effect will subside, until I change the view again, and it will start up again. It seems to happen only when stationary, ie I don't get it when taxiing or flying for example. It does not appear to do it in DX9. And ideas what the cause is and how I can resolve it? 14. Thanks Michael for cleaning that issue up for me! Much appreciated. As far as your second question ... why not? LOL. Seriously, just for a something different really ... the magic of simulation. My flight originated from KTPA with the route in most part generated by RouteFinder.
  15. I won't deny that I likely screwed up the CDU when compiling my route. Needless to say, after entering my route, and proceeding to define my approach, some discontinuities resulted. Although I struggle with the apparently easily removed discontinuities, this scenario has me stumped. I'm hoping someone can assist in helping me clean them up, and learn in the process. This is my approach into KSFO, using the Risti 4 arrival, Manteca (ECA) transition, for the ILS Rwy 28R with IAF ARCHI ... My last waypoint in my route was ECA. Here is the messed up route inthe CDU from the leg prior to ECA ... 16. Nice! Thanks Steve for your awesome contribution to our hobby!
  17. After having been working with and finding great satisfaction with Steve's DX Fixer since his first release, I have opted to invest further into my FSX experience with the purchase of UTX Canada, GEX and REX 4 - Texture Direct. I'm excited about flying with these new enhancements! I'm wondering if anyone flying with a similar addon library has any hints or tweaks that can be optimized with Steve's DX10 fixer? Are there any fsx.cfg or NI parameters that can be added, or changed in recognition to this new software? Any settings from within the software to optimize DX10 worth implementing? I'm also using the new Active Sky Next along with the FreeMesh X.
  18. Thanks Michael ... I saw that date in the Readme but thought the release was a bit older than that.
  19. Can anyone recall the date that PMDG released the 1d service pack release for the 737NGX products? Can someone confirm my understanding that service pack 1d equates to version 1.10.6461? Yes it is.
  20. Thanks Rostyslav, In my trials, their doesn't appear to be any performance difference whether one goes to NAV directly (as in tutorial 2) or stops at ALIGN first (as per the checklist I am using). It does appear however, to affect the ability to recover from a misclick. Going directly to NAV, and misclicking their after results in no map. Turning the misclicked IRS selector OFF, then carefully back to NAV, will recycle the alignment and provide the map.
  21. Whats's the procedure for resetting the IRS. I messed up during normal startup procedure ... During normal startup, I did the following: 1) align IRS left selector 2) align IRS right selector 3) copied the GPS L position from the POS INIT page2 of the FMC 4) pasted it into the GPS position (from the POS INIT page1 of the FMC) 5) align IRS left selector 6) align IRS right selector But at step 5, I accidently switched the IRS left selector off. After I tried to to recover by flipping to NAV thereafter, I haven't been able to get a map on my MFD. I've tried to go back to the IRS panel, turn both IRS to OFF, and redo things, but I either get blinking align lamps, or an absence of a map. My faulty attempt: 1) IRS selectors off ... 2) after align lights extinguished ... irs selectors to align 3) ON DC lights replaced by ALIGN buttons illuminated. 4) ALIGN buttons start blinking with a code of -------0--08 5) Switching to NAV does nothing. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. The GPS value in the CDU doesn't apperar to be able to be changed at this point.
  22. Thanks Kyle, I had an opportunity to practice this and was grateful for the help. Worked flawlessly of course.
