  1. I own the Saitek X52 (mostly for jetfighter sims and some arma 2), I like it a lot. For FSX I use the CH Yoke, the X52 Throttle and CH Pedals. I've owned the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke as well but was terribly disappointed with it, felt very strange and unrealistic with that hard notch in the center of pitch and roll. The CH has its problems too, but those I can live with :) Saitek seems to like notches for everything they do, a little too much if you ask me. The x52 had 2-3 notches, 1 making it hard to taxi because it was close to 25-35% N1 on most aircrafts in FSX, and the other i guess as an afterburner "guard". I opened it up and got rid of the notches and now I love it. Its big and has a big movement range so that you can do small inputs etc, Oh and it has a lot of buttons too ;)

  2. Hi! I just encountered a problem, about 14+ mins of the preflight I asked the FO "are you ready for the departure brief" and: Nothing. He didn't respond. I was kind of late with the question, maybe 13+ or close to 12+ because immediately after he said he was ready for the preflight checklist. Can this have caused the problem? I haven't had this particular problem before although once when I wanted to perform the before takeoff checklist i had to cycle to the RW entry procedure and back to get him to respond. Thanks in advance

  3. Thanks for the guide! I especially liked the example briefs, but I'm not sure if its very healthy speaking to your computer that much.:biggrin:Anyway, I own the MD11 version and in that one there are instructions linked to the time remaining. That's not the case in this version, so are there any particular things I should do before or after certain events. For example should the final cockpit preparation (inputting weights in the perf window, setting up the TO-page etc) be done after the brief and preflight checklist, or after the fuel slip? Exactly when would be a appropriate time to do it, anyone know? My first flight with the Fs2Crew addon I just did the final cockpit preparation after I was done with my flow, but I'm a bit of a realism freak so it would be cool to know when it is usually done irl.

  4. As many have said before I think autoland would be the only sound option, if there was the support for it at the airport. If I tried a manual landing there is a big chance we would crash, with me in the last seconds, frantically scratching a screw on the left side of the MCP, trying to go around ;)

  5. I hate the Saitek one solely because of the elevator stickiness. I know some people really like theirs, it can be a *huge* problem.
+1Also Saitek seems to like putting in "notches" in all their throttles. The saitek "quadrant" has them which makes it harder to taxi for me and the same is true for my Saitek X52 Pro. I love the joystick, but I've gone back to my CH Yoke for FSX, I live with the weak deadzone of the CH, but I can't stand the sticky elevator center of the Saitek.

  6. Someone mentioned a while back about the type and size of the hat/helmet that the flyer will be wearing. CAN WE PLEASE HAVE ANY UPDATE from PMDG regarding whether the helmet will be selectable via a menu option, and whether there will be an appropriate aerodynamic effect based on the helmet?!I assure you, I WILL NOT buy this aircraft if you do not model the range reduction for when I decide to wear a big-butt helmet!!!Come on guys.... We've been waiting forever, can you PLEASE give us a darn helmet update. Good grief!
Guys guys! Calm down, the woodpigeon will be released when it is ready. All these requests about updates just makes the production take longer. I am sure that when it is released it will be the best woodpigeon simulation made for FSX. :(

  7. Thanks Harry, you are probably right. The strange thing is that I just uninstalled and reinstalled the airport and I just had my first successful manual landing at that runway. Did some files get corrupted on the first install?
Hmm, it just happened again. Same story, I fell 50 feet because I turned off crash detection before. Is there any way to solve this problem?

  8. Here are two pictures to show what happens with crash detection turned off:Circa 1 second before the "crash point" at approximately 50 feet:And immediately after the sudden drop to the ground:This outcome is to me still not acceptable, I want to land the aircraft myself -_-But thanks for your suggestion.

  9. Even turning it off will result in a collision but instead of FSX stopping and reloading a past point the aircraft drops 50 feet which is even more unrealistic. Something invisible is making the aircraft crash, I have been able to reproduce it with the MD11 on 4 occasions, 3 of them a game stopper and the last was with FSX crash detection turned off, but then the above mentioned unrealistic thing happened.

  10. Hi. I recently bought the KSFO scenery from Flightbeam and have run into an issue where at about 50 feet on runway 28L the PMDG MD11 crash. I can only reproduce this error with the PMDG MD11 on a manual landing, not the autoland for some reason. I'm already in contact with Amir at Flightbeam, who has been very helpful, but because he can't reproduce the error and it only happens for me with the PMDG MD11 (manual landing) I thought I'd post about it here to see if any of you guys have run into the problem. The problem occurs no matter whether I have crash detection turned on or off, but with it off the plane drops to 0 feet AGL where I would've had a game ending crash if it was enabled. Here are some pictures of the crash:VC-view of the crash:Spot-view of the crash:And spot view of the approximate position where i would've crashed, but on an autoland:

  11. The question is which of the newer breed of Nvidia cards with 1GB+ RAM will run on my board? Years ago I upgraded to a card that was too fast for my CPU so I realise the pitfall.Iain Smith
Pretty much any new GPU can run on that computer. I had a GTX460 on my older (Core 2 duo E8500 3.06Ghz) computer. Sure a top of the line GPU wouldn't realise its full potential on your computer but a new 1GB + GPU never hurts the performance, you just don't get the full performance boost you would if you upgrade your whole computer. Whether your computer can handle a GPU upgrade depends on the power your power supply unit it has. Here is a calculator that can tell you if you need to upgrade your PSU. Keep in mind that brand and age of the PSU also matters. With that said, your motherboard should support any newer GPU, like a GTX 460 1GB, GTX 470, 480/570/580 etc. To reduce the bottleneck you might want to overclock your CPU though, if your cooling can handle it.

  12. Ever hear of Alt-tab? When it's minimized, just simply click on the fsx icon in the bar, and then alt-tab.. it'll show up as windowed.. alt-tab once again and you have it fullscreen again.
I think you are referring to Alt + Enter (or at least thats how you do it on my keyboard) Alt + tab for me is the usual program switching and when doing that with FSX you have to either go to the task manager, right click on FSX and select switch to or click on the FSX icon in the task bar, alt + enter 1 time to get it to show the screen and then alt + enter again to make it fullscreen.
