PC Pilot (May - June) Summary of "Flight" Interview
Interesting points by all...enough even to get me out of the read-only shadows and add my own!I'm enough of a "hardcore" flight simmer that I'm excited by ANY new release, but especially something in the MSFS series. By sheer community involvement I think it's outdone everything else on the market. Having said that, I haven't seen enough about Flight yet to get "really" worked up about it. It looks good (from the screenshots and videos), and the few comments by the dev team seem to show it's heading in a progressive direction. BUT, giving that the MSFS francise has been putting my best computer builds to shame for 10 years now, I won't be totally convinced about Flight until I give it a try. FSX is better than FS9, but I've only been able to run it now- five years after release. Flight may look better, but it better run. I'm hoping it is to FSX what Windows 7 is to Vista- faster, smoother, more stable.Josh

Aerosoft not to support MS Flight?
I've been reading these forums for years and decided to post something after reading all the speculation about 3rd party developers, so here goes!I had a walk through tour of a major hardware developers shop floor back before FSX was released. The owner/CEO was showing some of his products for a commercial venture I was launching at the time, and to my surprise he had a full copy of FSX running on a test PC. This was in March/April 2006. I had been following the release since we were looking at the platform for our integrated product, but I didn't expect this company (which was under an NDA from MS) would have had access to FSX that much prior to release. I remember thinking MS must be only a few weeks away from release. To this day I'm not sure he was supposed to keep that secret or not, so I didn't ask questions at the time. But that business relationship showed me that MS reaches out to hardware and software developers very early on in the new product cycle. I'm convinced companies like PMDG have been under an NDA for many months, if what happened with FSX is any indication. I have no idea what's going on with Aerosoft, but it could be that they weren't included in the initial "reach-out" but MS about Flight (possibly due to Aerosoft attempting to launch their own flight sim) and that's created some bad buzz. Makes perfect sense they would claim not to support (or be "impressed with") Flight. But that's just speculation on my part.Josh

Few Questions Before I Buy
Hello,I am interested in purchasing this product, but I have a few questions before I do. First, the product description page tells of dealing with "sick passengers" as part of (I assume) a failures simulation? And screenshot shows a broken windshield. Is there a way to toggle failures off? I will occasionally get up from a long flight and would hate to return to an aircraft spinning out of the sky.Second, can I select how much control I give the FO? Can I give him flaps but not gear, for example?Lastly, is there crew other than the FO? I thought I read somewhere there is a virtual cabin crew, but that isn't on your website. Thanks!

Thinking of Starting a VA?
Are you reading my mind? :)I already have a paid account with VAFS...been using it for about two weeks to get the feel and test a few options. I agree 100% with your VA experience...I prefer "realistic" over "do anything". I also own almost every commercial jet add-on and quite a bit of scenery, but I think limiting pilots to only using payware would severly restrict membership. So to balance some pilots desire for realism and others who prefer free flight, I was testing a two membership options- a "Virtual Crew" where operations are as close to a real airline as possible, and a "Jump-In" option similiar to 90% of the free flight VA's out there.Just brainstorm ideas at the moment, besides some web design work to see how it would look.

Thinking of Starting a VA?
Howdy all,I'm not new to Avsim, VATSIM, or the Virtual Airline world, and after many years of flying for other people, I decided to look into starting a VA. I have some real world airline experience, as well as being a real world private pilot. I've been management at several VA's so this isn't new either.I know it's tough and most new VA's fail, but in the research I've done I think I've found why most of them do. To start with, I'm already in better shape because I've got the webspace, design know-how, and some spare cash to get things running. I think that alone puts me in the top 10% of VA startups...Anyway, I'm only one person and I think VA's need to begin as a sort of group of like-minded enthusiasts. So I thought I'd put this out as "feeler" and see if there are any other flight sim professionals out there who have been toying around with the same idea and just need to group together to get it launched. Thanks!
