Aerosoft not to support MS Flight?

Featured Replies

Just been reading on the Aerosoft forums that Mathijs Kok is not too impressed with MS and Flight, cant say I blame him, his company developed for MS Sims, Train Sim 2 was announced then cancelled, it was resurrected then cancelled again, the successor to FSX was cancelled, its now resurrected ... I'm quite sure it will go ahead this time, but Mathijs seems serious about giving his company's support to X Plane 10 this time and has put his own company's sim on hold for now ... make of that what you will. From a thread on the Aerosoft forums by Mathijs ...

That´s a bit strong. But it is a fact we are working very hard to get a lot of our products converted and we will sell and support Xplane 10 seriously. What MS is doing does not interest us a lot. What we now know make it unlikely that this is a proper sucessor to FSX seen from the kind of customer we aim for. Might change of course but right now we do not have any resources on projects for MS Flight. AFS is most certainly not cancelled, it is discussed a lot and a lot of our internal developments are adapted for it. The biggest problem remains the engine. We are simply not able to find any that does all we want and is handled by a big enough partner. So it´s not on hold, but it is not moving at warp speed.
Aerosoft is going to be one of the main distributors of Xplane 10, it is one of the biggest projects we are working on in the second half of this year. Not only the release itself, but we are also converting add-ons to Xplane, are doing new installers that can handle Linux Windows and Mac etc. It would not be right if we would now push a direct competitor to XPlane. So even if we would be working flat out on it, we would not say so right now!
Mathijs has voiced concerns about the way MS have handled their highly successful Flight Sim series before and I'm quite sure there is a lot more to this than meets the eye, but to me Aerosoft were one of the biggest if not the biggest company that provided add-ons for FS9, FSX and the train sim too, all high quality stuff ... MS Flight without Aerosoft add-ons would be a damn shame.Mathjs mentioned somewhere in that thread that support for FSX would continue for at least one more year though.I know some will look at my post count and consider me a hater, but that's honestly not the case, I go back to FS2 and every version since, the launch of all versions of MS Flight Sim were a big deal for me, far more than combat sims ... I want MS Flight to succeed I really do, but somehow I just don't seem to be so excited with the early days of Flight as I was at similar times of earlier versions of the series release ... yep I even love FSX, more so than FS9.It will be interesting to see how it all pans out, it really is early days just now ... but no Aerosoft? that is sad news, X-Plane 10 had better be good, never really liked its clunky interface, but I might have to start looking at XPlane 10 if Flight does flop .... and I really-really hope it doesn't.Cheers.

Aerosoft will go with the flow, if Flight makes it and there is a demand, they will sell and make stuff for it in spite of this statement. They might be flight sim enthusiasts, but they are a business first and foremost, and if there is money to be made selling stuff for Flight, then they will do so, especially given that Aerosoft are often simply publishing brokers for many products on their books, as opposed to being the developers of them. Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

You are probably right my friend and I hope you are, but I do follow the Aerosoft forums and this is not the first disgruntled signs I've seen from them, they do seem serious about X Plane 10 though, very serious indeed and their resources are only finite. At the end of the day more competition is good, for a long time MS Flight Sim were at the top of the pile, with that comes complacency ... I really hope MS Flight will make Mathijs change his mind.

I honestly don't care if Aerosoft stays away. Their product support is the worst from what I hear. (I've even seen them argue with their customers for pointing out simple bugs!) There are a number of reasons why I don't care, but bottom line is that I wouldn't give them a cent.

You guys did not get the clue I posted here.... http://forum.avsim.n...-ms-flight-yet/ one day before Mathis answered in this thread... http://forum.aerosof...45525-afs-2012/My quote below..the last sentence was the biggest clue.....There is another dev. who was talking about making a new sim., I think they have pull out the section on their forum where they were talking about their new upcoming sim., that does not mean that they have killed that project by doing so, maybe they were just tired about the fact that they had to deal with all kind of questions from their members or they "wanna" wait and drop a bombshell on us only when their product is ready for release? I can understand MS asking for a NDA from who ever is involved with the project.Aerosoft is not involved with Flight like other developpers are.....Now get a load of this, will it be a good thing for MS to have Flight ready before or at the same time X-plane 10 hit the market? I know a lot of peoples swear by FSX or X-plane 9 only but It's not about being a a really excited user of either one, it's about who will have the best sim. on the market first, if X-Plane hit the market first and their sim. is like everything we want (us serious simmers) what do you think will happen....take a guess....

What will happen?A few serious simmers will purchase XP 10 and the MS target market will purchase Flight because they don't know about XP at all, and everyone will live happily ever after, flying whatever they want!

Crikey ... it looks like Flight Sim religion has crept into this thread already.

Let me guess, you are one of the most vocal Pro MS Flight posters on here ,,, Good luck with that : :)

I've purchased a couple of Aerosoft products for FSX and both were incredibly bloated frame killing nightmares. So I doubt I would be buying any Flight products from them anyway. Seems to me that Mathijs says a lot that doesn't go with the reality, his thread on his Ancient setup running FSX at 60+ frames or whatever was particularly impressive.

Jim, this was about when we should expect Flight to be released, how many will buy X-plane is not the question, does the early bird get the worm? You may be in for a surprise or two with X-plane 10....

Some of said as soon as Flight was announced that it would kill Aerosoft's project. Aerosoft just said:

The biggest problem remains the engine. We are simply not able to find any that does all we want and is handled by a big enough partner
I wonder why it expects someone else to provide the engine for its simulation, and why it sounds surprised it can't find a supplier?

That has nothing to do with it. I have not been a fan of Aerosoft for quite a while now.:(

Aerosoft is not involved with Flight to precisely the same degree "other developpers" (sic) are not involved... :(

The only thing about X-Plane 10 that would surprise me is if it actually got released. dry.gif

XP10 for the serious simmer? ... XP10 better be way better then XP9 for this to happen
