  1. Thanks for the tip. The Navigraph data were indeed disabled. Now it works the usual Way.
  2. Elevation data not selectable in Littlenavmap Version 2.8.9 64bit. Downloaded the Globe data and the path is shown. I applied and clicked OK. However, the icon for the elevation data cannot be activated. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this.
  3. The goal was not the frame rate, the goal was XBox.
  4. Telling my unvarnished opinion . For me, SU 5 is a downgrading of the PC version to xbox level, as far as the graphics are concerned. For a year the PC faction was allowed to advertise on the net with fantastic photos and videos that could hardly be distinguished from real flights and now the PC Simmers are being castrated at xBox level. On my PC (i9 10900k, RTX 3080ti, 64GB RAM, 2x 1TB SSD) the graphics of the Scenery are now close to FSX Landclass level. Totally overexposed, massively reduced textures, totally unnatural oversaturated colors, much poorer water display, often with steps in the water surface, which can cause a rollover when taking off and landing with seaplanes. These steps can also often be seen on land as blue lines. The quality of the reflections in the water has also decreased. All in ultra settings. Asobo announced that they could unlock potential in DX11 with new code and achieve an enormous performance boost. I would have achieved this boost in a much shorter time without code generation, simply by sliding the slider in the graphics settings all the way to the left, and it would have been individually available for each simmer. Yes, you hear a fair amount of anger in my post, but it's more than that; it is pain because of what we have already been able to experience in terms of absolutely fantastic graphics.

  6. I have a strange problem with the wake effects in P3Dv4. It happened only with ships on rivers, not on oceans so far. And it happend not the whole way, but most of the course. Has someone an idea, how to solve this. I never found a picture or a post at the net who showed this effect. Here is the link to the picture: https://www.magentacloud.de/lnk/FvAKEC2X#file After try and error for serveral days without any success and after I opened this topic, to get help, I think I found a solution for the problem. I changed the following entry in the particle section of the wake effect file from Ground Decal=1 to Ground Decal=0. Since then I saw no more stripes with the wake effect. Hope it is gone for ever.
  7. Problem found. Ultimate Traffic 2 has provoked the shutdown of the autopilot. After UT Live is installed everything works as it should.
  8. Hello, I'm about to configure P3Dv4. While flying, I change settings and see if the changes do not hit the performance too much. The following scenario. I'm flying with the Carrenado Baron 58 a GPS course with the autopilot turned on (AP, NAV, ALT), Garmin GNS 430 switched to GPS. Everything works perfectly. However, during the flight, I go to the OPTION menu of P3Dv4, e.g. to change something on the graphics settings, then go back into the cockpit, the autopilot turns off at irregular intervals. Namely, AP, NAV and ALT are disabled. Also, the GPS mode turns off in the GNS 430. So I have to press 4 buttons each time to make the autopilot functional again. The same happens if the flight plan is not already loaded in the start menu, but only when I'm already in the cockpit view. At irregular intervals again and again the same shutdown. Is there any tip to turn this off? This behavior is not limited to this type of aircraft, but is also present in the Stock aircraft. So it should not be an aircraft dependent.
  9. My final findings about real overcast and the cloud of doom. At first, the cloud of doom is not a product of the original "cirrus_overcast03.bmp"; it happens only if the REX version of the "cirrus_overcast03.bmp" file is installed. The REX version of this file allows the REX weather engine to place the fog which covers the ground by looking from higher altitudes, without having the cloud of doom, but for the price of loosing at some altitudes the impression of seeing something like clouds. With OPUS, also the ground becomes covered, but also the cloud of doom appears. I think, that is the explanation, why not all user of the OPUS weather engine have the problem with the cloud of doom. Only if REX textures are installed this happens. Also the HDEv2 clouds have its own "cirrus_overcast03.bmp", but also this bmp file is similar to the original one, or the OPUS one; no cover of the ground, by looking from higher altitude and no cloud of doom. May be it could be an idea for the OPUS developers, to give the user the option to decide between both possibilities. Ground not covered by fog, or covered and have the cloud of doom, or by far better to have the ground covered and no cloud of doom effect. AS2012 SP1 does not use this bmp file, because there is no difference, no matter what file is installed. By using the OPUS weather engine. By using the OPUS weather engine.
  10. Conversely, does that mean that, the original cirrus overcast bmp file is representing not only the doom effect, but also wrong weather. With the OPUS file, the doom effect disappears and the weather is closer to reality. But totally overcast, at high altitudes is still possible, if the METAR file contains such values. I see that right? I ask it this way, because I made the two pics at exactely the same altitude, position, time and METAR datas. Only the bmp file was different.

  12. Hello Stephen, looking forward to the next releases. With the doom effect I found out this: If I replace the bmp file, you suggested, by the Opus bmp file the doom effect dissapears, but also the real overcast condition is gone then. Seems to be the same layer for both. May be you know allready, but if not, good to know for finding solutions. Look at the pics. Real overcast, but also the cloud doom No cloud doom, but no more real overcast condition
  13. @ Sephen and Cheryl Hello, I did some further tests today and I have to say, that the result was a completely different one compared to yesterday. Very limited visibility at the ground, which goes after some feet altitude nearly to zero . No sight to the ground. At 3200 - 3250 feet, the ground becomes visible, maybe around 50% visibility. But only up to an altitude of 3290 feet. Since then the visibility goes down arround 98% (nearly invisible ground). This level remained constant at all higher altitudes (I like it a lot). Maybe the small airspace with better ground visibility happened while going from one layer to the next; I'm sure you know better. I tested AS2012 SP1, REX Essential Plus in standard mode and OPUS. The overcast conditions are managed best by OPUS, followed by REX and least well by AS 2012, because AS uses a different technic to control the visibility, but with AS the horizon line shows smoother. REX visibility at ground level is allways a bit to good, compared to OPUS and AS. Also at higher altitudes REX has still the same visibility level as OPUS and also remained at this level, but without having the small airspace with the better visibility. For a better understanding again some pictures. My settings I love such an athmosphere Very foggy isn't it? Inside the small airspace with better visibility to the ground At this altitude allready real overcast again Still overcast conditions Also at higher altitudes How overcast condition looks in AS2012 compared to OPUS AS2012 OPUS AS2012 OPUS AS2012 OPUS
  14. Hi, at first, thanks for your reply. My impression is, that limited visibilities in FSX are made like a kind of fog filter between the world and the camera. That means all you can see, except the aircraft is affected by using this kind of filter. Better visibility, to see the clear blue sky, if you fly above the clouds, means also better visibility to the ground, if it is not covered by clouds, because the filter becomes clearer and clearer. What we need is one more filter between the ground and the sky. Then, if the vertical positioned filter becomes clear, the horizontal filter remains at low visibility. but I'm pretty sure, this is not easy to realize, maybe it is impossible to get it with FSX, because the horizontal filter has to be a very large one in size. For me is the optical appearance of the weather a very important factor, because I'm flying mostly smaller aircrafts and helicopters, normally at lower altitudes, enjoying the landscape under real weather conditions. However, OPUS is from now on my standard program to bring real weather into FSX. The accuracy and atmosphere, flying in bad weather conditions is very impressive and very exiting. Also the short time from starting OPUS until the weather is injected into FSX is excelent. And my impression of the developers is, they are highest motivated to make possible what ever can be become possible and they hold close contact to its customers. It reminds me somehow at the ALPHA team which created FSX, a team of flight enthusiasts, not a team of business focused people like the ones who created FLIGHT. For a team like the developers of OPUS I payed gladly the 40$, because its product is worth the price and the support is state of the art. Go forward this way, and many thanks for a great product.
  15. Hello, I think the problem with the ground visibility appears, if there is no fog reported with the METAR and then no fog layer is placed, which can be seen from above, but we have low visibility which is realized with some kind of blending effect I think. In the sample pictures you can see the current METAR datas and how it looks inside the sim. If you have reached the hight of the low visibility area, the ground becomes invisible, which is correct. But at higher altitude it becomes visible again, because your position is now above the limited visibility area, which gives you an unrealistic impression. I don't know if it is possible to find a solution to this. So far none of the weather software is able to realize this. But it would be allready give us a much better effect if the visibility would not switch to best visibility, but still remain to a more limited one, may be adjustable by the user. I have AS2012, REX Essential Plus with Overdrive textures and since two days also OPUS. OPUS and AS2012 are very close together what comes to the visual weather appearance, but I think OPUS is the most accurate of this three programs in displaying the METAR datas; REX has the best textures in my opinion.
