Does it mean you are referring to FSX when writing about Ctrl + and -, please?

What is then the syntax for changing the camera distance in camera.cfg in MSFS 2020?

Thats two different things. At least there is a value to be set of this now in the camera.cfg (which means at least we can manually adjust the viewpoint outside the sim). The other thing would be binding a key to that value. That option still seems to be missing so far.

Do you have hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling turned on in your graphics settings in Windows (not MSFS)?

Yes i have seen your thread regarding that. The option unfortunately is missing in my Win10 graphics settings. thanks anyways.

Run sfc/scannow from the Command Prompt.  Change your graphics driver. (Doesn't matter whether you choose to roll back or instal a newer one.) Re name your Community folder. Completely uninstall ALL traces of the sim. Then reinstall it. Run it and exit. Put your Community folder back. It's a time consuming pain but it works.

I updated my graphics drivers today (nvidia) with no change so far. With reinstalling everything i have to say that I am still not ready to enter the week-long process of downloading, installing and setting everything up the way it was, just because I installed a mandatory update.

  3. Ok, so since SU9 my sim is broken. CTD happend first 5 minutes into any loaded flight, and recently at startup while loading. It even crashes when loading into safe mode (!).

I deleted the rolling cache file manually as mentioned here in the forums with no change. Any tips?

I just cant find this hardware accelerated GPU setting in graphics options. All I have there is the possibility to set a performance profile for apps. Is it this one?

It will increase saturation of colours.  In most cases though it is too much.  Grass can be too bright - I have seen extra green roads and purple fields.  Try it 🙂

I fully agree on that one, I just found the setting because of this thread and it actually looks more natural to me. I deactivated film grain a long time ago already for a clearer image. I dont get the obsession of asobo to simulate a physical camera, with lens errors and clunky controls, when all you want in a flight sim is a natural look and intuitive controls for camera views, so you can get an as real as possible experience.

here is my PP setup in the cfg. Works great for me.

            Enabled 1
            EyeAdaptation 1
            ColorGrading 0
            Sharpen 1
            Fringe 0
            LensDistortion 0
            Dirt 0
            LensFlare 1
            FilmGrain 0
            Vignette 0
            LensBlurMultiplier 1.000000
            FringeMultiplier 1.000000

BTW what does "Dirt" do? I never noticed dirt effects on my MSFS cameras but i deactivated it, because I suspect more cattle excrement behind that. 😉
Just give us nice looking clouds, realistic reflections and chaseplane-like camera controls instead of all those JJ Abrams Hollywood movie filters.

Might have been coincidence but I lost AI sounds when I put "aig-aitraffic-oci-beta_CVT_" in the addons linker folder. Now I just link the main "aig-aitraffic-oci-beta" folder, and leave the other in the community folder.

Just tried and doesnt make a difference. What is this folder anyways? It appears to be newly created by the controller program each time its run.

I have both of them directly in the community folder.

The sound/AI folder inside the "aig-aitraffic-oci-beta", where all the soundai.cfgs are pointing at, is empty btw. I tried modifying soundai.cfgs to where i copied over standard asobo ai traffic soundpacks, but the cfgs get reverted back to original when i check my setup.

Nav lights do work on my side on AIG models... actually too much, they are visible miles away in bright daylight.

Yes they do once a plane is in the air, in reality they are supposed to be on even on the gate.

BTW, is the total absence of any ai aircraft sounds a mistake on my side or are there simply none in MSFS so far?

That is the current version, it was released this morning. AIGTC checks for updates every time it starts.

Have you set your AIGTech - Traffic Controller to run as Administrator?

In AIGTC, Autoinjection is enabled and set to 100%?  You can adjust it lower to suit your systems needs once you know you have it working.

I ensure that my system security excludes my AIG TC folder as well.

Yes, i constantly enabled run as admin in the exe settings of the TC. What i noticed it that the TC also does not show any traffic planes on the map, except for a few airport vehicles. Again, all the options pointing to directories in both ultilities are set correctly and the TC option in the manager was also enabled.

EDIT: solved! I had traffic controller saved on a different drive (C) before, and not where the Community and OIC folder is. Probably, for some access regulations, the controller cant access the database then. Since i saved the TC inside a directory on the same drive, it works. Also it needs the "-MSFS2020" argument in a shortcut.

Only one more thing: is there a way to make nav lights work on the AI models?

  9. Hello,

I am running a dual boot of win7 and win10 and i have a partition on my Computer which is mainly use for storage because its still a HDD. However, for unknown reasons this partition (formerly letter D:) vanished from my explorer. Using partition wizard or the win10 drive management tool allows me to see its "unallocated space" now.

Is any of you aware of a way to restore that partition without data loss? All the tools google suggested me upon searching want me to "buy premium" first.

Have you actually made a real effort to try the drone? In addition to discovering how much it can do that cameras in earlier sims cannot do, you will find an "ultra wide distorted view" is avoidable with the proper settings. You don't like using the hat on your joystick? Well, I can't help you there. Sounds like you may need a flight-sim valet to perform all these onerous tasks for you.

Mate, instead of getting personal it may be more useful to actually explain how to set up the drone view to work similar to the spot view we are used to from FSX/P3D. So?

  11. I got and tested REX weather force in the last few days. IMHO its live weather mode is as close as we currently get to what we are used to from Active Sky etc. Is far as i notice its a bit more basic than that though: the weather changes to the current METAR close to your position, but there are no "virtual stations" created in the "holes" in between. So either the existing METARS are used to fill those gaps or they simply have a clear sky. I cant test that because so far I didnt do any long range flights in MSFS.

btw. Whats this aerosol injection option about? I enabled it in the beginning but it makes the sun look like it became a supernova, making it impossible to watch actual sunsets instead of a nuclear blast. So whats the point of this option other than bringing my VRAM to its knees? The exaggerated bloom seems to be linked to air humidity but i visited plenty of tropical high-dewpoint regions in my life and it never looked like that in the evening.

  12. Anyone remember this really useful funcion in all previous FS installments that for some reason was totally abandoned in the MSFS camera system? 😉
Is there any tweak/tool to get it back?

Also i dont really quite get the way the MSFS camera system works. I set up the pan/mouse cursor switch in cockpit view in a similar way i did with FSX/Chaseplane before, but if I zoomed in and then switch to mouse cursor again, to actually operate my instruments, the zoom resets itself. Kind of annoying.

I highly recommend that you install the Addons Linker (https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker) to manage your addons.

I currently have 501 addons installed, 464 of which are active. Using the linker, I can turn on or off addons in a matter of a minute or two. Has all sorts of great features. One of the best (and it's main reason for being) is that you can organize your addons in a subfolder hierarchy. As you may know, addon folders in the Community folder can't be in subfolders.

    ...jim

thx, this is the future. 😉

  14. So here i am with FS2020 finally successfully installed and actually dedicating some time to setting it up.
I installed some 20 addons, mostly airport scenery and boom: MSFS crashes at startup in the loading screen when showing the PC-6 picture at around 80% of the blue bar, 0x00000c5.
In safe mode it runs normal. It is obvious one of the addons is causing the issue.

Now I wonder if there is any way to identify the faulty addon without spending hours with trial and error. Any logfile or console or something like that?
