Ariane Design 737 ng FS9
I still drive a car built in 1997. When something needs to be repaired I take it to the garage. The mechanic never brushes me off by saying the problem is easily fixed by buying a new car. As pointed out, Grosse came to a FS2004 forum to ask advice about a FS2004 product. Why the flippant comments about upgrading to a new platform?

Converting FSX textures to FS9
I might have the wrong end of the stick but I think the question is how to convert FSX textures to use in FS9, when the developer released both a FSX and FS9 version of the aircraft model. There are plenty of examples of that out there. For instance, there are many FSX textures for models such as QW 757 and RJ, or the IFly 737 that will work perfectly fine if converted to bmp format for use with the FS9 model. Another example that comes to mind is the Carenado Cessna Caravan. Michael is right about conversion of FSX airports to FS9. Conversion of the textures is one part of the process but tools like MCX provide the means to expand the already massive number of airports available to those of us still using FS9. The reason you'd want to do the conversions is because the there is no FS9 addon available (as amazing as that seems) or the FSX version is more up-to-date or more detailed. Michael is also right about textures for AI traffic models. Many of the painters stopped making FS9 bmp versions a long time ago. In fact many no longer make FSX versions either and focus on what they call HD versions meant for P3D and even MSFS. Most of the traffic models continue to be based on AI traffic aircraft originally made for FS9 so the textures work perfectly fine if converted. Conversion of textures is about the only way to keep traffic reasonably up to date these days for FS9 users. But, as Michael pointed out, FS9 users do not have models of airliners introduced into service in the last few years. We can not expect a FS9 version of these models to be developed. So far that is only a small handful of aircraft types. In the meantime conversion of these HD textures is a really simple proposition with a tool made by Mathew Ministry (aka Richard Faith). I cannot recommend more highly his AI texture conversion application, which can be found at the other place. Search for the file called dds2bmp_formatconverter.zip. Conversion is a simple matter of dragging and dropping the FSX/P3D texture folder to the application, and presto you get all the textures fully converted to FS9 format including alpha (where applicable for sat domes etc.). MFSG continues to get better with each new airport. The last three I acquired, Bahrain, Penang and Dhaka, are all really good. The latest offering is CYQB Quebec City, which is available today. I've been waiting for this one! I want to say thanks to Syamsani for continuing to provide us with FS2004 versions of his airports. Happy New Year to the FS9 Community. Greg

Thank you Dedl for pointing us to this scenery. I don't frequent Avsimrus.com all that often so without this alert I probably would have missed this scenery. Greg

Thanks! Unfortunately I've had a set back. With the finish line in sight, my scenery development computer died on me earlier this week.

Pity. AES really added to the immersion of my CYQR scenery, so I hoped the current project, CYWG, would be up to Oliver's standards. I guess the pressure is on to get it finished before he closes up shop! Nicolas, thank you for that update. I think many of us wondered about the status of AES. Greg

New FS9 Scenery
MFSG has been busy over the last few months and has a number of FS9 airports on offer. Two more Japanese airports, RJTO Osima and RJTF Chofu. Both of these airports came as part of the old Overland Japanese airport series but the MFSG versions bring them up to date and are, in my opinion, much superior to the Overland renditions, which were released about 15 years ago for both FS2002 and FS2004. In recent months the developer has also produced an airport closer to home for him, WMSA Subang, which was the international airport for Kuala Lumpur until 1998. It is now a freight and regional hub. This is a nice scenery. Most recently MFSG has produced OJAI Queen Alia airport, which is Jordan's main and largest airport. I didn't purchase this one because I did pick up the ARMI Project Queen Alia airport in late 2017. From the screen shots it looks like a toss up between the two offerings of this airport but I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has the MFSG version. I know that the developer has a full list of future releases in 2019. Hopefully the FS9 community supports developer so that he continues to include FS9 versions of his airport projects, which are also for FSX and P3D. Greg

New FS9 Scenery
ZBAA by A_A Sceneries is a very impressive piece of work. Highly recommended. One small issue to report. The night texture of the Air China static 744 is misnamed so the model shows up without textures in the sim. Simple fix by adding a space to file name so it matches the day texture. This is a superb scenery that should be supported by the FS9 community. Greg

OSHIMA AIRPORT RJTO 2019 - Island of Izu Oshima, Tokyo, Japan AQABA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OJAQ 2018 - King Hussein International Airport, Aqaba, Jordan The developer, Syamsani Shamsuri, plans for one airport a month in 2019 so a lot more to come. A very productive developer indeed. MFSG has a new release - Colombo International Airport, which is the main international airport serving Sri Lanka. MFSG - BANDARANAIKE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT VCBI 2018 MFSG might be the last payware developer out there doing FS2004 versions of his airport scenery. It is good quality so worthy of support from the FS9 community. Greg

Malaysian Flight Simulator Group (MFSG) continues to support FS9. Three new airports to report - one Japanese and two Malaysian. MATSUYAMA AIRPORT RJOM 2018 KOTA KINABALU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WBKK 2018 WMKF SIMPANG AIRPORT 2018 As a bonus, WMKF provides a cityscape of the principal buildings of Kuala Lumpur. Worth the price of admission alone! That airport is also home to the RMAF museum, which is represented in the scenery with some not too bad static models of the museum collection. All three airports are nicely rendered. Greg
