  1. Join Us! http://virtualairlogistics.org/ Welcome to Air Logistics, a virtual airline making a difference in the flight simulation community. Air Logistics (ALOG) is a fictional based virtual airline or VA, providing its members a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to share our mutual enjoyment of the flight simulation hobby. Air Logistics simulates a medium (but growing) sized passenger, cargo and charter airline headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Our primary base of operations from the Denver International Airport (KDEN) allows us to provide service throughout North America and the World. Air Logistics Passenger Services The passenger airline business is a mess these days. True customer service has simply gone the way of Braniff, Northwest and now recently US Air. As the big airlines gobbled up the smaller airlines, the art of service somehow got put on the wrong airplane and is sitting on a tarmac somewhere far away. Air Logistics has decided to bring the glory days of air travel back from the past. We pride ourselves on providing the very best service with competitive fares. AND WE DON’T CHARGE FOR CHECKED BAGS or DRINKS! Virtual Passengers love this new (but old) concept and ALOG is selling almost every seat on just about every aircraft and route we schedule. Air Logistics Cargo Services The Air Logistics cargo division includes a scalable sorting facility at the KDEN airport. Similar to the Fedex sort facility at KMEM and the UPS sort facility at KSDF. While ALOG does not handle door-to-door package delivery, we haul just about anything and for anyone. Our largest customers are actually Fedex, UPS and the United States Parcel Service (USPS). ALOG operates daily flights to KMEM and KSDF from KDEN assisting to keep the world on time. These flights return to KDEN where friendly ALOG employees and massive machines will sort and load cargo onto additional aircraft to travel all over the world. Why Air Logistics? We know you have hundreds (perhaps thousands) of choices in the virtual airline community. Air Logistics was created for the flight simulation community in an effort to make flight simulation fun. ALOG membership is absolutely free to all regardless of age or experience. ALOG is a community for all experience levels to learn and share the common interest and passion for flight simulation. Finally, ALOG is a member driven community. If you have an idea, please share it. If it fits within our scope of operations it may be considered.
  2. Yes…we’re hiring and we want you! virtual Air Logistics, vAL officially opened to the virtual airline world a little over 15 months ago. vAL is a different kind of virtual airline for a different kind of virtual pilot. I’m happy to report our growth continues at a healthy pace and we have expanded our operations once again by opening our 5th hub at Kansai International Airport (RJBB). Operations from RJBB will allow vAL to continue to grow into the Asian market just as we have done over the past six months into Europe from our London Heathrow hub. Both Kansai and London are connected to our global cargo sorting facility in Denver, Colorado. vAL currently has five crew hubs located in Denver, CO (HQ), McCall, ID, Anchorage, AK, London, UK and our newest hub located at Kansai International Airport. From these five locations, vAL Pilots may operate any of our aircraft including single engine bush aircraft, retro and modern jet aircraft (including the Boeing 777 and 747). For those helicopter enthusiasts, yep…we have you covered as well and welcome your participation in our VA. In addition to having over 700 schedules, vAL also allows pilots to operate charter flights to over 42,000 different airports in over 230 countries. In addition to flexible schedules, vAL is also offering a structured dispatch scenario requiring pilots to fulfill specific cargo supply runs in some of the more remote regions of Alaska. Of course, vAL also offers a monthly tour throughout various regions and we have scheduled multiplayer flights with TeamSpeak 3 access. Why vAL? vAL offers the virtual pilot a fun, friendly, mature and relaxed atmosphere. We fully understand that many things in life come before our hobbies. We never expect you to put your virtual aviation career ahead of family, work, school and other life commitments. We offer schedules ranging from just 30 minutes of flying time up to 1-2 hours. Our goal at vAL is to start small and grow based on the number of members and overall flight activity. Our flight schedules offer the virtual pilot a wide range of prop driven aircraft including the Piper Cub J3, DHC-2 Beaver (all variants), C185 (all variants), the C208 and for those wanting a little more power, we offer many routes on the Beech 1900D. We have also acquired a DHC-5 Buffalo and the DHC-6 Twin Otter. Have a desire to fly even older aircraft? vAL also has the DC-3 (and BT-67 conversions) along with an old Ford Tri-Motor. Of course, vAL offers some fantastic bush flying throughout the Alaska, British Columbia and Yukon region with new routes and destinations added each week. Enjoy operating jet aircraft? Following our plans of growing the airline based on pilot activity, we started with an old MD-83SF and slowly began adding new and modern jet aircraft to include the following Boeing aircraft models 737, 757, 767, 777 and 747. vAL also has several wet-lease agreements with major airlines which allows our pilots to also fly many of the Airbus models. More to come! Finally, with our brand new partnership with Return to Misty Moorings, vAL offers an opportunity for virtual pilots to really get a sense of what bush flying is all about and strengthens our “No Runway Too Short, No Airfield Too Remote” philosophy. Return to Misty Moorings is a freeware scenery site offering additional sceneries, missions and much more for the Orbx/FTX regions in the Pacific Northwest. If you enjoy flying around Alaska and British Columbia, you really need to check out Return to Misty Moorings. virtual Air Logistics, a different kind of virtual airline for a different kind of virtual pilot. 7. Hello, If I may introduce myself. My name is Jerry. I've been flying computer sims since the early 1980's. I started a new fictional VA about 6 weeks ago. It is called virtual Air Logistics. Our goal is to return FUN back to the hobby of flight simulation. We have a very relaxed policy manual because we understand flight sim is a hobby. Please check us out and if you are interested in joining, we would love to have you. Oh, and we don't require a test. Jerry
  8. A few weeks ago I reported the launching of a new VA, virtual Air Logistics. vAL is a different kind of virtual airline for a different kind of virtual pilot. I’m happy to report that we are growing at a healthy pace and have partnered with a great group of freeware scenery designers. More about this in a minute. Why vAL? vAL offers the virtual pilot a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We fully understand that many things in life come before our hobbies. We never expect you to put your virtual aviation career ahead of family, work, school and other life commitments. We offer schedules ranging from just 30 minutes of flying time up to 1-2 hours. 9. My fellow flight sim enthusiasts, It truly is with great excitement to announce the founding of a brand new virtual airline to serve the needs of our vast community. My name is Jerry Taylor and for over 30 years I’ve referred to myself as a virtual aviator. It all started for me back in the early 1980’s and the Commodore 64 flying around Meigs Field. As the years rolled along, so did the level of detail and excitement in more advanced simulations. What we have today, compared to what we had back in the 80’s is truly amazing. My first experience with a virtual airline came well before what we know about VA’s today. Way back in the 80’s, my friends and I would keep track of our flights on a legal pad (perhaps even a Big Chief tablet) and compare notes from time to time. My memories of these times were FUN! Of course, the dawn of the internet has helped to bring about a more social gathering of our like minded friends. I too remember the early days of internet based virtual airlines and the manual PIREP forms and the need of having to manually edit html pages to keep up with an active roster of pilots. Today we have a wide variety of ACARS applications and thankfully much of the day-to-day VA administration is automated. Something I’ve personally taken notice of over the years is how some VA’s seem to isolate themselves from certain types of virtual aviators. I’m not suggesting this is bad, having a structure along with strict policies are certainly acceptable. After all, at the end of the day…the decision to join or not join is fully in the hands of the virtual pilot. But enough about that… virtual Air Logistics (vAL) is a completely fictional airline. vAL is also simulating a new startup focusing on two areas of the United States. First, our HQ (and my home town) of Centennial, Colorado. KAPA is the perfect base to provide a unique and personal level of service to passenger customers and to our cargo customers. From KAPA we provide daily service throughout the Colorado Rocky Mountain region. vAL’s second focus area is from Anchorage, Alaska. The Alaska region provides a unique opportunity to those who enjoy Bush Pilot flying. Our company motto of “No runway too short. No airfield too remote.” Will serve to define how we operate as a virtual airline. As a VA simulating a fictional startup airline, we will gauge our development and fiscal health based on the overall membership growth and amount of flight activities from our members. In other words, as we gain members and as those members fly, vAL will expand with more routes and more aircraft. Speaking of aircraft, vAL currently uses the Cessna C208 Grand Caravan, Beechcraft B1900D and the Cessna C185F Float and Tundra versions. I realize I’ve taken up much of your time. Please allow me to wrap this up. My main reason and goal for creating virtual Air Logistics is to return FUN back to the hobby of flight simulation and create a place where ALL are welcome. One area which I believe separates vAL from most VA’s today can be found when you read our very short policy manual. In summary, vAL has just 5 simple rules to follow: First rule at vAL is HAVE FUN! Fly the way you enjoy flying. Second rule at vAL is BE HONEST! Be Honest with vAL and most importantly, be honest with yourself. We don’t require online flights and we don’t require you to fly with our ACARs system. However, we expect honesty when it comes to filing PIREPs. If you didn’t spend the time to fly the route, then please don’t file the PIREP. I believe the enjoyment we receive from a hobby is equal to exactly what we put into it. Those who cheat will simply not enjoy the hobby and I believe in time they will leave. Our third rule, always be respectful. As we continue to grow and develop vAL, we may include a forum to ask questions, we may include a TeamSpeak server and we may also do some online events. My parents taught me in order to get respect, you must show respect. vAL does not have an age restriction. If you are old enough to fly a computer simulator (and have your parents’ permission), then you are welcome here at vAL. However, respect for others must always be followed. Our fourth rule, fly as much as you want and fly as frequently as you can. vAL exists to simulate a brand new startup airline. The more active pilots we have and the more flight time we accrue, the larger we can grow. However, any pilot who becomes inactive for 90 days and does not make contact with vAL management, may be removed from the roster. I think this is fair. We have routes requiring a time commitment of less than 30 minutes up to an hour or more. This should make it easy for those to maintain active status even with a hectic work/school/life schedule. Our fifth rule, we all start with zero hours and we all start at the rank of New Hire. Any pilot rank can fly any of the aircraft in our fleet. I believe this is a simple approach and I believe this will help with rule #2. In addition, vAL pilots may fly any route from any hub they choose. In closing, I would like to thank you for your time and if you feel virtual Air Logistics would be a VA you would enjoy flying for, please join. You’ll find our website at http://virtualairlogistics.org Our official grand opening date will occur on 1 June, but you are welcome to join and start flying today. Again, thank you for your time and happy flying! Jerry Taylor
  10. Thanks Dave. I appreciate the info you provided. Sounds interesting. No conflicts with VATSIM with the audio version? And is that truly the way to go for the full immersion??? I'm somewhat ashamed to admit this. But I've been flying computer sims since the early to mid 80's (started on the Commodore 64) but have almost always just flown either default aircraft or freeware models (which are more or less based on default a/c). Just sit down and CTRL E, Shift P and down the taxi way I go. So since I've dated myself a bit. In recent years I've wanted to take the hobby to the next level. I really have no desire to learn to fly in real life, I consider myself a professional traveler as I know when to take my shoes off and when to put them back on and do travel a lot from time to time. But I've wanted to fly more complex aircraft. I recently purchased the iFly 737NG FSX model and truly love it. While I don't mind flipping all the switches and such myself...sometimes it would be nice to have some help. So it sounds like this software is truly designed to be that second pair of hands. Jerry
  11. I did look through this forum and through the FAQ's on the FS2Crew website. I also watched the cool video. Again, please excuse the very basic question of what does this really do?Is this merely an audible checklist and as pilot I still need to flip the switches, turn the knobs etc? OrIs this an audible checklist and the virtual FO handles the switch flipping and knob turning? Is it neither? Is it both? Thank you in advance for assisting me again with what I know is a very basic question.Jerry
