  1. Right now I am waiting for this one to come out: http://www.flightsimsoft.com/pfpx/ In the meantime, is there a flight planner that will give me a computerized flight plan. Calculating weights as well? Thanks, Chris
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. Anyone know the name of that really well done YVR freeware for fs9? I forgot the name of the developer, but I'm wondering if it's FSX compatible.
  3. Any decent YVR scenery for FSX? I know FS Dream Team has one in the making, but is there anything I can use in the meantime? Chris
  4. Yeah Johan, FS9 is still the alternative and still on my system...so if all else fails, that might be my only choice. Hopefully this weekend, i'll try and do some more tweaking. Does anyone else have any tips or tricks for tweaking performance that we haven't gone over already?
  5. Yeah once I start Rex, I'll have to do some tweaking. Do you think a 30 fps limit is okay though? What do you have yours set to? Anything else you might add on tweaking other things? Thanks again for all your help.
  6. Thanks for the info Al. Yea, probably not the best idea to start taking apart my laptop. You can vouch for me that, it really is a good laptop and other than FSX performance, it has ran great. Anyways, I guess it just takes time to tweak the settings which I have been doing. I do have a tweaking question though...... So I just bought the Flight1 Citation Mustang which is great! I started out doing a little test flight to check the frames....I have a 30 frame rate limit set (hopefully thats good?) I only use 2D panels so once in the cockpit, everything worked out fine and the frames stayed around 25-29. Spot plane view, also 25-29. Everything was good until I applied full throttle....frame rates started to drop.....all the way down to 2-5. switched it back to spot plane view.....frame rates back up to 25-27. I thought it was kinda strange, just because I was using megascenery and my autogen was turned down. So bottom line is that I need to figure out some more tweaks that can help me out. I don't want to sacrifice too much autogen, because then it will start removing buildings from the airports. I hate to sacrifice weather as well, since I just got REX essential and haven't even tried it yet. Any other options? Chris
  7. So here is another thing. I am willing to spend some extra cash to upgrade some equipment on my laptop. I don't have enough to get a brand new system at the moment. So I know I should probably upgrade the processor that runs higher than 2ghz. Looking at my specs, is there anything that I can upgrade to speed up fsx?
  8. Unfortunately this is all I have for now to run FSX off of. Supposidly it's able to handle it, I just have to do a lot of tweaking it looks like.
  9. Alright guys, thank you for all the great replys. Especiall Chock. So I started up FSX tonight having all the necessary tweaks done and add ons installed. The flight started fine, however, once I applied full throttle, the frame rates dropped dramatically and that dreaded "crackling" noise started coming through the speakers. I have the settings set relatively low. Can someone please help me? Let me know what settings you want me to post for reference. Thanks again, Chris
  10. Guys thank you for all the replys. I just installed Megascenery X. So far the frames aren't too bad. I am gonna look into that sticky post on tweaks and hopefully that will speed it up a bit. Are my computer specs up to par for FSX? Definitely looking to get AcuFeel. Also, will the terrain mesh (FSGenesis) speed up performance at all? Any other tips on what add on's I should look into?
  11. So after many, many years of flying FS9, I have finally made the decision to switch over to FSX. Just the fact that there are a lot more planes available as well as scenery and just to get up to date. Anyways, I know this comes up a lot on the forums but I was wondering if you guys have any tips or info on what programs to install and also what tweaks are available to update performance. I've already bought and installed: ActiveSky X, Megascenery Socal X, Ground Enviroment, Flight Enviroment, and looking to get Ultimate Terrain, REX overdrive, and the latest FSUIPC this weekend. Anything else you guys might add, please do. Lastly, here are my specs: HP Pavillion DV7 (Laptop) Windows 7 32-bit SP1 Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9000 @ 2.000 GHz 6GB Ram (2.97GB usable) ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 Thanks guys, Chris Allegro
  12. So I downloaded Yannick Lavigne's Falcon 50 for FS9. Kinda having a few problems. The aircraft doesn't have great climb performance. Once past about 15000 ft. The plane starts to decelerate and I usually only make it up to about FL350 at the greatest. Also I noticed that there is no beacon light switch on the overhead panel, but for the FSX model there is. Anyone else having these problems? I am using FS9 and Win 7 32 bit. Chris
  13. Hi guys,I was wondering what the best paintkit is for the FS9 default Lear 45. I am trying to paint it,but the lines are not seeming to connect with each other as in this paintkit, there are aboutthree parts of the aircraft. I downloaded this kit off avsim. I was wondering if anyone has puttogether an easy paintkit for this plane or if someone knows of a place to get a good paintkitfor it.Thank you,Chris
  14. Has anyone done it and if so, is it flyable in FS9? There is a gorgeous Challenger 300 that I saw that I would love to have for FS9.Chris
  15. Wow really? Maybe I should just try climbing at 500. I'm usually doing 800 FPM, but by the time I get to 7000, I'm getting close to stall speed. It would be really nice to get a GS of 149!
  16. Hey guys,I've had Tim Conrad's Grumman Tiger for a while now and if you have it, I'm sure you have noticed it is underpowered. With just one on board, I am cruising at about 100 knots at 7000 feet. I can't really make it past 7000 feet without stalling, the normal service ceiling is about 13000. I'd at least like to make it up to 9000 or 10000 feet and cruise at a little fasterairspeed, unless anyone knows about a better performance, is there a mod I can do with the cfg file to kick up the speedand ceiling? Also a nice Reality XP GNS530 WAAS mod would be nice if anyone has it.Thanks guys,Chris
  17. Hi MelI was wondering if memory could be an issue? One of the computer techs at work mentioned that it could be from not having enough memory. I have had the pc for over 4 years so this is a possibility. What do you think?
  18. Hi Guys, Anybody in here paint the Eaglesoft Cirrus SR20/22? I haven't seen a lot of paints submitted lately and I know there are a lot ofnice paint schemes on the Cirrus.
  19. Thanks for helping Mel, So I'll list what I have for the three sound tabs: Sound 1 Name: Speakers and Dual Headphones (IDT highHardware ID: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111&DEV_7603&SUBS' Sound 2 Name: SPDIF (Digital Out via HP Dock (IDT High Hardware ID: (Same as Sound 1 Tab) Sound 3Name: Independent Dual Headphones (IDT HighHardware ID: (Same as Tabs 1 & 2) Hope this helps, Chris
  20. Thanks for the quick reply :) First of all, I am running off of Bose speakers and sub, so that isn't an issue. Also I cannot figure out what kind of sound card I have. When I go into dxdiag, it has 3 sound tabs. Sound 1 says: Speakers and Dual headphones. Sound 2: SPDIF (Digital out via hp dock). Sound 3: Independent dual headphones. Is it possible that I don't have a sound card? I haven't had a problem with this before because the speakers are relatively good, but I don't know whats happened in the past few weeks. Please Help!
  21. Hey guys. So I tried running at 60, but the sound still keeps "popping/cracking." I did a test run today through massive cumulonimbus clouds and after about 30 mins of flying, it started doing it again. It stops for a while, and about 30 mins later, it starts up again. Any other ideas?
  22. Alright I'll try 60 for a while and see how it goes. Thanks again guys.
  23. Hey guys, Thanks for the replies. I did move the frames down to 60 and it has seemed to stop! However the frame rates did drop a little bit. I do have a pretty good ATI Radeon card, so is there a way I can get these frames back without the popping noise?
  24. Hi guys, So I have been reading the previous post about this problem so I know they are out there but it doesn't seem to fix the problem. It just started happening recently and I haven't installed any new aircraft. The sound starts cracking for about 45 seconds and then goes back to normal. It happens about every 20 minutes. I am using REX and ActiveSky but I feel that going into clouds isn't the problem since it has only started recently and I have been using the weather enhancers for a while. Anyone know what the problem might be? I have Windows 7 and am on FS9 if that helps. Chris Allegro
  25. Hi GuysI've been having problems with the Wilco/Feelthere Legacy throttle. Whenever I am in a climb and get past about FL320, the power automatically goes to idle power. There is no way for me to get it back to CLB detent or any other detents for that matter. I have also tried this panel on another aircraft without a specific merge. For those of you guys that have created merges for aircraft, is there any way in the .cfg file I can tweak it and have the power settings working normally?I know I shouldn't merge this with another aircraft, but I like the FMS in the aircraft and if the power settings worked properly, it would be nice. Thanks,Chris
