Gamespy sign in problem
SandPro replied to Donald Traill's topic in Shared Cockpits | Multi-Player Forum for FSX | FSX-SE | P3DThanks for your input.... I was remembering a couple years ago.. when it was said.. they were pulling the plug.. and it did something simiar to this. Guess I got a little thrown off... as I have yet to see any indication that I have lost connection to GameSpy (which is how I origanally connected.) The server was logged via GamSpy and I had both boxes checked for GameSpy/LAN to show.... I can only assume... I lost connection (without notification) and the LAN connection is still oerating in it's normal LAN mode now.... which goes to your point. Although I, of course, would like to have the session avaiable both ways... If, the "plug was pulled".... it won't bother me to simply continue hosting via LAN only. Again.. thanks for the more informed/detailed info.

Gamespy sign in problem
SandPro replied to Donald Traill's topic in Shared Cockpits | Multi-Player Forum for FSX | FSX-SE | P3DWe have seen this before. I would hang in there. It has been my understanding for years... Microsoft PURCHASED the GameSpy engine to use for FSX on the "get go"... as they did not want to re-invent or invest $$$$ on a new multiplayer level game engine. The company "GameSpy" ... (now GLU)... does not HOST FSX... Microsoft does.... using this engine for mulitplayer operation. That is WHY GameSpy never responds to any inquires about FSX on their site. Point 2.... Lockheed recentely "purchased" a liscence for only the "Mission" section from Microsoft... (NOT GameSpy)... to use for their Prepar3d project. And if for some reason my guess is incorrect... I would assume they will get our business... as they use this to host Prepar3d on their server(s). Point 3.... IF, the "plug was pulled"... my session.... which is still up and running via this engine... would be down.... it IS NOT. An educated guess is at this point... there is probably a server issue on logging into the multiplyer section of this software. For those of us that are already connected via the multiplayer engine... and have not disconnected.... are still ok. There are still several of sessions up and running as I type this... see eariler post by .Davethewave2 of FSOPEN. However... crossing my fingers... like everyone else.. In the mean time... I'm going to continue flying.. until it goes down.
