    Thank you for info.

Is that not a big FPS hit?

As I have no FPS problems with this plane I did not notice, but it is easy to check on your system.

And I often learn new things when playing around. 🙂

Tried the 'View - Manage cameras' with the Custom Camera Management, was not aware of that. Not as easy as the x-plane ctrl-numpad, but not that difficult. And as I use few add-ons, no weather or camera ad-ons, this is a way to make custom views.

Am not really into GA, but this looks very nice and a good price, but.... I know my set up is not the normal thing, but I use two monitors one at eye level=main screen and one below for pop up ND PFD.

This not having a pop-up screen for the G1000 is very off-putting.

    Also this comment

So SID/STARS are they not working? What is the "issue"?

What else is waiting for an update, please?

    Keep the info coming guys.

Have you tried to put the G1000 in an extra window an undock it, that works on my 2 screen setup.

    Hi Everyone,

Looking for some help on how to access the MCDU2 panel, in order to get to items such as Aircraft state, doors, etc. I've read thru the documentation,.but all I can find is how to do things once I am at the MCDU2 screen. I've searched for MCDU2 in Vol1 of the guides, but just provides info on what is there, etc.

But how/ whats steps are need to bring up MCDU2?? Also, if it's in the documentation, could someone provide info on guide volume where it's found?

I'm trying to do self help, but just cant seem to locate it in the guides.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Mike

You need the third MCDU, look in manual volume 1 page 19

Although FSL is a stutter, I don't think I can blame FSL for that. Really, I think it's the sim itself.

P3D v4 is FSX just better, however, it isn't a completely new game like XP.

Meaning, the old FS2002, FS9, and FSX garbage is still in P3D, unless if LM wants to completely dump that and make a new game entirely.

How old is X-plane compared to Microsoft and Lockheed Martins Flightsim and Prepar3D?

Just installed this Plane.  The installer throws an error saying it "cannot file any flight plan files".  I browse to the directory where the flight plan files are but the installer still claims it can't find them.

After the install I checked the dll.xml.  None of the Required changes were there.

Manually fixed dll.xml.  Tried one of the Flights the installer claimed it could not find - "Falcon 7X Cold & Dark at San Francisco Intl Airport".  Loaded up mostly cold and dark and started turning things on.

    No sounds at all.

I would suspect my P3dv4 install but all of my other aircraft (Carenado, Feelthere, iFly, PMDG, QualifyWings, etc.) all work fine.

Obviously no-one ever tried to install on P3d v4.3 in spite of the fact that there is an exe file in the zip file specifically for v4.3.

If they installed it, they never loaded the plane in v 4.3.

Look back in this thread, you are not the only one frustrated  with Wilco, and for me Just Flight. Now they have put a warning in there webshop. 😀

So here is what I did:

Ran the installer and pointed to my default Prepar3d folder. This installed a Wilco/Falcon 7x folder. In the Falcon 7X folder, there are two folders with the files that are needed to run the gauges and displays. The Driver folder contains a file called Falcon7xFMS.dll and the Gauges folder has two files, Falcon7x.CAB and FalconCockpit.dll. I copied all of these files into the Wilco/Falcon 7x/SimObjects/Airplanes/Wilco_Dassault_Falcon7X/panel folder. You'll notice that there are the same files in this panel folder but they are an older date. I created an archive folder and put the old files there. Once I did that, I was able to run the Falcon. I was able to update all of the nav data using Navigraph and as I mentioned, I did a test flight from KATL to KIAD. It was an okay flight. Wilco products do tend to have a few more bugs than I like, and FPS took a hit on final approach. The landing lights lighted up the flight deck and not the runway, but hey, other than that, it was a decent flight.

Thank you for the trick, now I can fly the plane. 😊

Good grief, I got my money back on this garbage when it was v1.4. Version 3.2 and they still haven't figured it out? Which reputable store (s) are still selling this trash?

    Just Flight for example. 😯

And they do not tell you that it does not function in P3Dv4.3, I have tickets with Just Flight and Wilco.

I am so disappointed that the Carenado 172SP doesn't have a autopilot.  Who would put a G1000 in their 172 and then leave out a autopilot to use the functions of the G1000.  I know you cane use keyboard commands but that isn't realistic and takes away from the realism.  Has anyone installed a autopilot into the Carenado 172SP. I don't know what Carenado was thinking when they left out the autopilot.  Please email me how you did it.

    Thanks

Which Carenado C172 are writing about?

My Carenado C172SP SKYHAWK G1000 has the autopilot built in the G1000 and works OK.

First of all, there is absolutely no difference between the Academic or Professional versions of P3D.  When I open up the Learning Center, I have a sidebar where I can search.  I searched for Map and found hundreds of references to Map including Map so confused as to what you are asking.  Look in your P3D Main Directory (not the sub-folders) for Learning Center.

My fault, english is not my mother tung. :-) What I meant was folder, there is no learning center folder in my P3Dv4.

I found it on the PrePar3D website.

    http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv2/LearningCenter/LearningCenter.php

and there is a lot of good stuff there.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Found it in the P3D Learning Center (learning center is in the Main P3D Directory).  Look under GPS.

Is there a learning center map in the Academic version? Or does it have a different name or lacation?

I have not been able to find it in my P3Dv4 directory.

I've been updating Carenado's planes as they release the updates for P3dv4.  All have worked flawlessly...EXCEPT the Caravan.  The VC is transparent!  I've uninstalled and re-installed, but nothing changes the transparency of the inside of the plane.  Spot view and all other views are accurate. Have any of you tried this particular update, and did the same thing happen to you?

I checked Carenado's site and there doesn't seem to be any additional info.

    Stan

    Mine is the same.

But in the mail from Carenado the text is:

C208B GRAND CARAVAN EX HD SERIES FSX/P3D

It could be the expansion pack, not the base pack that is updated.

You would have, not you would of. Sorry for being the grammar ###### here but I hate that :-)))

Is it a grammar school or a flightsim forum?

Do you want it only for people with english as there native language?

I think a lot of us are glad, when we are able to make us understood.

I have been thinking for a while of getting Prepar3d as well a Xplane. I have been an Xplane user since version 9 and also have 10 and 11 which I use all the time. I have a modest amount of payware aircraft and I have no problems with XPlane at all. I particularly like all the community material including airports and utilities, many of which are free. I like the regular updates, the forums, and everything else. In short, I enjoy XP.

However, I would also like to try something different as well, just for variety., but I have a limited budget and would really want to keep any available expenditure to Xplane, and continue with this as my primary sim.

Is it worth my getting Prep3d as well, bearing in mind that I would probably limit payware to one PMDG or so.  I have a feeling that I would not be very satisfied with just a vanilla version. Does anyone run Prep3d as a secondary sim, and has that made any sense?

I know a lot of posters use both. I would just appreciate some advice on the matter. As far as I can see there is very little freeware around for Prep3d, so if to make it usable I have to spend a lot it is probably a non starter and I would just keep to XP.

So, would be interested for some views.

    Thanks so much

    Upkeep

Try asking in the P3D forum, they are just as religious about there favorit sim.

They all have there pro and cons, personally I like the look of P3D better then X-plane 11, but that is personal taste.

    Naw it's in there , simobjects/"commercial_airliner"

Just like the CRJ 700 is there too but doesn't show as a flyable option. I can't remember what little tweak you need to do to make them show up. Not like you would fly them anyways...

Edit: Beaver is there too only thing missing is the panel and sound folders. could prob copy those over from FSX and be good to go if you wanted.

If I remember it right, no panel shows it is an AI plane

Hang on, a bit confused here, (old and thick!).

Apologies for asking a stupid question, but could you take a few seconds to put me straight?

    Many thanks

    Matt Attwell

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. :-)

I must admit that I too am a bit confused of all that VAS discussion, and as my system runs fine with P3Dv4, I will wait with the concerns.

Most of you are probably aware that the performance of FSW is a bit disappointing.

I've figured out that this is almost entirely due to the scenery.

I'm getting pretty good frames if I max out everything but keep the scenery on minimum. Changing scenery from minimum to low almost halves the framerate.

So I guess the only thing that needs to change is how scenery is rendered. As it stands, it's still using a single CPU core to do all the work. My GTX 670 is far from being used to its full potential.

I don't know if changing this is even possible, as it might be quite "deep" in the engine, but I really think it should be a priority.

Would love to hear everyone's opinions on this.

My installation uses all 4 cores of the cpu, 9 GB of my 16GB ram and 3.4 GB of my 4 GB ram on the 970 graphic.

All sliders to ultra and 20 FPS in big cities rising to 50-60 in more open land.

I like the early access and looks foreward to what is coming.
