Same for me, 4.1, Vector, NA LC, PMDG.  P3D always crashing while approaching Canada from Europe over Labrador also.  No mytraffic installed.  There is some kind of conflict in that area....I still can't nail it down though.

I'm using the Matt Davies Preset, edited the VC part though with the above results.
I would love to use other presets, but I'm getting error messages about cloud shaders (which result in all my clouds vanishing) with other presets.
Wrote Matt about it, but never got a reply. Seems their supportaddress given on the simmarket productpage is not staffed anymore.

in the pta program click custom tweaks, then uncheck clouds directional lighting 3, and the error will go away

I use ambient sunlight 1.00, Diffuse sun at 2.50 and saturation at 0.75...when you go in parameters there's an image clickspot that shows you exactly what the settings do. But I think you went through that already.

Also which preset are you using?  Im using the Thopat preset...slightly edited.

Every time a customer has a problem with any of said products, the developer has always offered to help in any way he can.  i don't know where anyone got the idea that their customer support is non existent.  if you actually look through this forum all he does is help anyone in need of it.  I'm sorry but I have to call BS on these posts.  Keven and his team go out of their way to help anyway they can.  And I am pleasantly happy with all their products.  Shame on you both for blatantly lying.  If the OP had a real problem with his software, he should kindly ask for help, instead of just saying that Keven and his company are frauds.  I would add more but i'd probably get a reprimand or worse.  

i really don't know why anyone compares this company to PMDG.  I never have a VAS problem with any PMDG aircraft..and I bet most of you do not either...both the Concorde and the A320 are VAS hogs...and I bet many of you see the same behavior.

Also, there is a group of users that can't get ReShade to work, it crashes P3D even after my suggestions from Troubleshooting section. Something is a culprit, maybe GPU drivers, maybe some addon, who knows.

 

For me SODE was the culprit.  When I disabled it, ReShade loaded fine.... otherwise it would crash P3D.  Don't know why tho, had a previous version of dxgi.dll working fine from an old reshade version.  (not with this PTA Preset however) .  But working fine now without SODE, and it's a great preset...thanks!

Run Procmon  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx  while running FSX, when and if you crash it will show if FSX is crashing because of a faulty texture, FX file etc....

When you first run procmon you will need to specify to look for FSX only....

In the filter screen  http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/442/result2gq0.jpg/?sa=0

select Process name, is, type fsx.exe, include..... Apply then OK

Start FSX, and if you have a crash it will show what faulted.

Do you have Sweetfx or ENBseries installed in fsx?

Agreed, FSX is a chore when unstable, but when all the bugs are ironed out, it is very enjoyable. Luckily ive had zero crashes since reinstalling Sweetfx.  Is it always at one location when you CTD or at random? Day/Night? With UTX/GEX?  Also do you ctd every time you use FSX?  

If you are using Sweetfx or ENb series....remove their dll's and try again...had a similar problem with an unknown module crashing my FSX at startup. reinstalling their respective dll's and default settings kept my fsx from crashing again.
