    I had this problem and couldn't solve it until I downloaded WhatIsHang from here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/what_is_hang.html . In my case, it was being caused by a terrain.dll crash. Lowering my terrain settings seems to have stopped the hanging. Thomas Bate
