Xtreme Cities Limited Release (Official Release Tomorrow) from Ultimate Terrain Group
You really should ask the store for your money back if it's that bad.

X-Plane 10 vs Prepar3d 2.2 - CYCD (Nanaimo, BC) - Comparison
We should talk. I have tremendous amounts of data, in various standard GIS formats, far surpassing anything you can find using OSM. Much of that went into creating Treeline North America.

X-Plane 10 vs Prepar3d 2.2 - CYCD (Nanaimo, BC) - Comparison
Wouldn't it be interesting if the guys who created Treescapes for FSX also took a look at this? Meanwhile, I'm not sure what you mean by .org or how I'd contact Robert2 - I'll search around. Thanks for tthe feedback!

X-Plane 10 vs Prepar3d 2.2 - CYCD (Nanaimo, BC) - Comparison
Thank you. Most interesting B) . Something tells me that an investment in X Plane is in the offing. Purely for research purposes, you understand  . Meanwhile - as a matter of interest, just how much photo-scenery is out there for X Plane users that treeline autogen would enhance?

X-Plane 10 vs Prepar3d 2.2 - CYCD (Nanaimo, BC) - Comparison
Just out of interest - and without expressing any specific intentions  - I've been looking into X Plane and X Plane scenery. I have to confess I haven't invested yet but checking out the details regarding scenery I noticed there's a specific file type that appears to be focused on "forests". Can anyone give a brief insight into this and what tools are currently available to edit or create this format? I have a sneaking feeling it may be just the ticket...

X-Plane 10 vs Prepar3d 2.2 - CYCD (Nanaimo, BC) - Comparison
Sorry guys. I can't really respond as I've been (in a way rightly) warned off discussing my product as a result of a similar reaponse in another thread. Even this is a stretch. I wish you the best with X-Plane and your discussion has now got me really interested in that Sim - even for personal use!

X-Plane 10 vs Prepar3d 2.2 - CYCD (Nanaimo, BC) - Comparison
Just to chime on one post from TurbineSeaplane above and sorry it's late the day... Full disclosure - I developed nuvecta's Treescapes North America™. It is purely "autogen" overlaying photo-scenery but deliberately positioned relative to real-world location to match photo-real (so it's not autogen randomly generated and rendered on land class scenery which is how most people think of autogen). Sounds simple enough but in our case we cover a continent. It's based upon commercially procured land-use and mapping data much which sprang from digitization of the USGS Topo map series. The government, as I found out directly from the USGS trying to get something for nothing (except my taxes!!), has only digitized somewhere near 2%-3% themselves, leaving the rest to the private sector (and hence not free or cheap like much of it is in Europe). The data is processed to its limits which brings it down to somewhere equivalent to 1:15000 mapping covering the whole USA - like a Topo map. It does this for whole of the USA and slightly less accurate scales in Canada and Mexico. Some OSM is incorporated but, frankly, in the USA OSM is woefully inadequate in coverage and accuracy and will be for years to come except for various very specific, very localized, relatively small areas. We chose to produce Treescapes first because that data was much more comprehensive and faster to process. It makes a product like the wonderful Treeline product in the UK (based on UK government OS data) but covering many hundreds of thousands of square miles in our case. We are now working with the rest of our data to finalize techniques to produce reasonably complete autogen including buildings. Not so easy and we're not 100% happy with results so far, so that's only an experimental product. Love the screenshots, by the way. Must admit, I haven't looked at X-Plane yet (we work with P3D and FSX). Wonder if we should? I hope this helps your discussion.

Autogen versus MegaScenery?
Hear you loud and clear and looking at various ways of making this economical for the Sim community. We're not a major software "shop" and we need to cover costs and a big investment in the data we had to get to make Treeline possible. Having said that, we're simmers too.Bundles, discounts, and lower prices are in the works particarly as we've learned more about the market since we started in April. Hope that helps. Check out what I mentioned above. Also please note states have come down in price, smaller ones are cheaper anyway, bundles will make them even cheaper, we've arranged with a number of stores for discounts, and there's a free version of RI out there. It's not in our interest to over-price our product but, honestly, I didn't know what price point to use. I just went off the price of existing similar products (they exist in Europe but nothing like this is available in the USA), what add-ons sell for, and how much it cost us to make.Hope that seems reasonable in the circumstances.

Autogen versus MegaScenery?
Autogen on photo-real really is a highly subjective and emotive topic. However, it seems to me for taxi, take-off, approach, landing, and low-level flying (GA, VFR, Training) it doesn't spoil the photo-scenery to have ptopoerly placed (accurate) autogen. That's why I created Treeline North America. Someone mentioned they use Horizon VFR and Treescapes for the UK. This is the same except it's for the whole USA (and more).
