I completely disagree. I will never drink beer while operating an aircraft. To suggest such a thing is disgraceful and unprofessional. Instead, I drink scotch.TrevorI was a real world airline pilot for many years. While I do take flying seriously and try to get a realistic simulation while using FSX and PMDG products, I don't get so wrapped up in it that it becomes a chore instead ofan enjoyable hobby. Some of you people need to relax and have a good time while still flying these aircraft properly and following the rules. There's nothing wrong with having a cold brew either.Pete Locascio -
Runway lights aren't visible? Or, cockpit lighting is not visible? Screen shot?

This may not have been an actual "failure." Take a look through the forums. There are a number of posts discussing brake issues such as this. To answer your question, the section of the QRH is aptly titled SP1. Not really, but you get it... Trevor

Exactly my point. Aces development team intentionally designed flight simulator to appeal to two audiences. One audience, my 6 year old son and the rest of the average Joes (maybe you too), who are bored with COD4 for the moment, don't appreciate the complexity of an aircraft like the NGX. For this easy to please crowd, FSX provides missions and races. Whether you want to fly through green circles in the sky or participate in the jet truck drag race, FSX default missions are the place to be. They require no thought and minimal skill. Let's face it, while these people are not flying in a drag race or running Loopy Larry, they are either coloring in coloring books, playing in the sandbox or pretending to be Warlocks and high elves on World of Warcraft. Not the kind of person you would expect to find in the left seat of a 737 -- real or simulated. The second audience doesn't fly the silly default missions and simply wants a complex platform on which to operate a high fidelity simulator. FSX provides this. The NGX community fits in this category. Microsoft was smart here. Why would you make a product that caters to only one market when you can cater to two markets with the same product? TrevorJust fly a mission or do a race in FSX to see how gamey it really is. -
Speaking of short runways, I'm looking forward to landing my NGX at KMDW (Chicago Midway) this winter. Hopefully I can keep it on airport property.KSNA love the short runway and departure procedure. -
FSX is a game for people who don't know how to fly--like my 6 year old son. He likes to hop into a plane (whichever one has a "pointy nose") and hurl the A/C into the ground with one wicked maneuver after another. For someone who is an experienced pilot, FSX is much more than that. A hobby and a way to practice maneuvers and familiarize yourself with aircraft systems. If you find yourself flying the FSX default missions, you might fall into the former category--along with my 6 year old son. Trevor

I suppose that's the difference between a "Product Support Forum" and a "Customer Forum." The strength of a customer forum (which is what this is) is that users can develop a sense of community and excitement about a product. Seemingly meaningless chit chat (like, "What Airport is Your NGX At?", my not so epic Smooth Moderator post, or the acclaimed "How Seriously do you take your NGX?" post, which evolved into a discussion about drinking while flying) help strengthen the bond between users so that NGX pilots want to come here to share experiences, be part of a growing community and, sometimes, ask for support. I'm not sure if you're new to flight simming, but that's what this community is all about. We love flying, and we'll find any reason (however silly) to talk to those who share our passion. If it's pure "get to the point sir/ma'am and fix this problem" support you want, go to: http://support.preci...in/Default.aspx. You can open a ticket without the hassle of chit chat. Trevor MooreHi guys. This thread is getting out of hand!!!! 90% of the postings are NOT related to support questions any more. It's very frustrating to have to scroll down 10 pages to find a support question that might help other users. Can the forum administrater PLEASE create a new subforum or something for poeple who want to talk about the 737NGX and DON'T have a support question. I did like the video from the Madeira landing, I understand you like to show your NGX screen shots but PLEASE could we keep this as a SUPOORT forum? Jackthen Swede in Spain -
Di, you're such a good sport. Why do I feel like everyone thinks of me when watching this? Haha great find all the same. -
One of the best videos so far. What setting are you using for water? High/low, 1x/2x? Flight Environment Extreme, perhaps?Anyway, nicely done. Trevor

Yeah, but 22 FPS is not bad at all for FSX. Do you have any problems with stutters? If not, that should be smooth as silk.

The forum has slowed down a bit today. And, with all of the contentious posts floating around, I thought we could all use a good laugh. A tribute to the self appointed Mods of the world. You know who you are! You may not have been elected or designated, but we love you all the same.

Also, see Ryan's post in the thread "ETA SP1 and Tutorial 2." He said: "The support issues (activation and freezes mainly) come first guys - I'm not putting time into more tutorials until that stuff is solved." That pretty much counts as an update, I'd say.
-
What post? Just curious. Anyway, I say we let them focus on SP1 and Tutorial 2. They are obviously working hard on both. Maybe they're sitting on a beach in Aruba assuming that their work here is done, but I doubt it.Trevor

I'll keep an eye out for Part 3. Thanks, Paul.Had to get soe sleep Tom, eyes were getting shifty. Starting to think NGX Forum Addiction can be bad on your health. Anyway just covering all the bases. Going to put up Part 3 now for those that do not have any crashes. So look for that. -
Honestly, given your specs, I would take what you can get. If you can just stick with full screen mode and avoid the graphical problems, do that. I would suspect that your graphical problems are the result of your hardware not being quite up to task.TrevorI am using a xpx 420 with vista 32.Prosessor Intel Core quad cpu q6600 2.40ghzMemory 4gbGraphic card : Nvidia geforce gts 240(latest graphic drivers installed) What i mean with messed up is that the graphic in fsx just ######s up(I can hear the engines running, atc talking, etc like everthing isnormal), but i can't see anything.Mostly the screen turns all grey. This is'nt a big problem as i always use full screen. But its a small problemwhen i setup the plane before takeoff,or if i am up for another flight, which usual means i have to restart fsx:).If i dont touch this keys, everything is okay. This happened also before the latest patch. -
The aircraft is controlling to pitch to maintain airspeed in the descent (in this case, at 220kts). Did throttle go to idle? I.e., what was list in the FMA?Trevor
-
V-sync issue? In any case, you'll have to provide a lot more information for anyone to posit a cure. System specs, etc. What do you mean when you say "graphics gets messed up"?Trevor

Waiting for SP1. People have heard my scotch analogy before, but here it is again. Sure, the 3-yr Highland can get the job done, but an 18-year Speyside tastes so much better. Which is simply another way of saying that I am quite content waiting for PMDG to develop and refine their product updates in SP1. Trevor

I have the GTX580 3GB, upgrade from the GTX285. No issues whatsoever. I got the 3GB over the 1.5GB because I am running FSX at 2560x1600 on a 30in. monitor. NGX is smooth as silk, locked at 30 FPS.Trevor1.5GB is fine. -
Here's the key. If you fly online, get the updates. If you don't fly online, get the updates when you feel like it (like I do), but just make sure your NGX and any flight planning program (FSBuild, FSC, AivlaSoft, etc.) have the same AIRAC. C'est tout!Trevor
-
Uh oh... Or, as they say in the legal community, "Asked and answered." My advice: Ignore the warning until you feel like getting the AIRAC update.Trevor
-
+1 THANK YOU!!!I would imagine if they were to reply it would be via support ticket if the person has bothered to submit one. That's how you communicate with PMDG. Not by challenging their integrity on a message board. Lets get a little bit more realistic. -
Yes, that's right. Battery on, nav lights on.I think you turn it on as a warning to the ground personnel once the plane has electrical power. Not 100% sure though. -
I agree with Kenneth. The best thing you can do is read reviews. Not on Avsim, but on forums like Overclockers Club and Tom's Hardware. Those sites are an awesome resource.Trevor
PROBLEMS WITH LIGHTS IN VC AND RUNWAY

Do you have "landing lights illuminate ground" option ticked under FSX graphics settings?
