  1. I was a real world airline pilot for many years. While I do take flying seriously and try to get a realistic simulation while using FSX and PMDG products, I don't get so wrapped up in it that it becomes a chore instead ofan enjoyable hobby. Some of you people need to relax and have a good time while still flying these aircraft properly and following the rules. There's nothing wrong with having a cold brew either.Pete Locascio
I completely disagree. I will never drink beer while operating an aircraft. To suggest such a thing is disgraceful and unprofessional. Instead, I drink scotch.Trevor

  2. This may not have been an actual "failure." Take a look through the forums. There are a number of posts discussing brake issues such as this. To answer your question, the section of the QRH is aptly titled SP1. Not really, but you get it... Trevor

  3. Just fly a mission or do a race in FSX to see how gamey it really is.
Exactly my point. Aces development team intentionally designed flight simulator to appeal to two audiences. One audience, my 6 year old son and the rest of the average Joes (maybe you too), who are bored with COD4 for the moment, don't appreciate the complexity of an aircraft like the NGX. For this easy to please crowd, FSX provides missions and races. Whether you want to fly through green circles in the sky or participate in the jet truck drag race, FSX default missions are the place to be. They require no thought and minimal skill. Let's face it, while these people are not flying in a drag race or running Loopy Larry, they are either coloring in coloring books, playing in the sandbox or pretending to be Warlocks and high elves on World of Warcraft. Not the kind of person you would expect to find in the left seat of a 737 -- real or simulated. The second audience doesn't fly the silly default missions and simply wants a complex platform on which to operate a high fidelity simulator. FSX provides this. The NGX community fits in this category. Microsoft was smart here. Why would you make a product that caters to only one market when you can cater to two markets with the same product? Trevor

  4. FSX is a game for people who don't know how to fly--like my 6 year old son. He likes to hop into a plane (whichever one has a "pointy nose") and hurl the A/C into the ground with one wicked maneuver after another. For someone who is an experienced pilot, FSX is much more than that. A hobby and a way to practice maneuvers and familiarize yourself with aircraft systems. If you find yourself flying the FSX default missions, you might fall into the former category--along with my 6 year old son. Trevor

  5. Hi guys. This thread is getting out of hand!!!! 90% of the postings are NOT related to support questions any more. It's very frustrating to have to scroll down 10 pages to find a support question that might help other users. Can the forum administrater PLEASE create a new subforum or something for poeple who want to talk about the 737NGX and DON'T have a support question. I did like the video from the Madeira landing, I understand you like to show your NGX screen shots but PLEASE could we keep this as a SUPOORT forum? Jackthen Swede in Spain
I suppose that's the difference between a "Product Support Forum" and a "Customer Forum." The strength of a customer forum (which is what this is) is that users can develop a sense of community and excitement about a product. Seemingly meaningless chit chat (like, "What Airport is Your NGX At?", my not so epic Smooth Moderator post, or the acclaimed "How Seriously do you take your NGX?" post, which evolved into a discussion about drinking while flying) help strengthen the bond between users so that NGX pilots want to come here to share experiences, be part of a growing community and, sometimes, ask for support. I'm not sure if you're new to flight simming, but that's what this community is all about. We love flying, and we'll find any reason (however silly) to talk to those who share our passion. If it's pure "get to the point sir/ma'am and fix this problem" support you want, go to: http://support.preci...in/Default.aspx. You can open a ticket without the hassle of chit chat. Trevor Moore

  6. I am using a xpx 420 with vista 32.Prosessor Intel Core quad cpu q6600 2.40ghzMemory 4gbGraphic card : Nvidia geforce gts 240(latest graphic drivers installed) What i mean with messed up is that the graphic in fsx just ######s up(I can hear the engines running, atc talking, etc like everthing isnormal), but i can't see anything.Mostly the screen turns all grey. This is'nt a big problem as i always use full screen. But its a small problemwhen i setup the plane before takeoff,or if i am up for another flight, which usual means i have to restart fsx:).If i dont touch this keys, everything is okay. This happened also before the latest patch.
Honestly, given your specs, I would take what you can get. If you can just stick with full screen mode and avoid the graphical problems, do that. I would suspect that your graphical problems are the result of your hardware not being quite up to task.Trevor
