  1. Hello, I have been mulling over building an English Electric Lightning Home cockpit for the last 6 months, which for the next three months I have the time and money to do. However, I am aware that home cockpits are hardly easy to make, let alone a specific aircraft like the Lightning. I have a couple of questions which I would hope some of you may be able to shine some light on: - I'm thinking of building a rough reconstruction of the cockpit, but rather than have a large display around, I would use my Oculus Rift S, is this viable? - Though I am aware I have stated I would use the Rift S for most of the function, I have some old EE Lightning gauges sitting around. I would like to fit them to the cockpit, and hopefully make them functional. Would this be entirely impossible? - I am toying with the idea of building the cockpit in a modular fashion with a metal finish like the aircraft. Is contracting a 3D printing service viable, or vaguely cost effective? I would try and get panels from them, and fit switches into the panels. Cheers, Peter
  2. Hey, So I think pretty much everyone has had this issue at least once. You get a brand new FSX plane and really want to fly it, and although you can get the basics of it, you just can't figure out the autopilot or a particular system. For me the Milviz F-15E is a problem as the autopilot confuses me, as does the weapon system. So maybe there should be a website in which you can book a session with a guy who knows how to fly the plane inside out, so you can chat with the guy and he can teach you everything you need to know about the plane. Thus in this way, people can learn how to fly well/better with that particular plane instead of trial and error. I think this could work very well, if we had lots of people involved, all very knowledgable about a particular plane. e.g. X- T-38, F-14, NGX, 767 Y- F-15, F-16, Su-27, AXE Z- Eurofighter, Sabre, 744, MD-11 However, I think that the people who were the instructors had to be very good with the plane and know more than the basics, have knowledge of emergency systems, and pretty much answer any question the trainee fired at him. Please reply if interested Pete
  3. I was just interested whether rolling back some cores and pushing the main two would make a substantial difference. I get pretty good performance as it is, but even in fairly normal situations, Aerosoft sceneries just sit at 20FPS. I won't bother. I might try it though. Pete
  4. For Computer Guys-I have an i7 3930k OC'ed to 4.5Ghz. Hex core, Hyperthreading disabled. I mainly use it for FSX, and FSX only really uses core 0 and 1. Would it be unstable if I disabled core 4 and 5, pushed core 2 and 3 back to say 3.8Ghz and superclocked core 0 and 1? Not sure how far I could OC the first two, but what do you think? Pete
  5. For the guy who said about the su-27, there is the ALS-SIM su-27. Go to Flight 1, it is good.
  6. How about the HS Trident and VC10. VC10 particularly. It is only honourable to do the vc10 since it is close to final retirement. The VC10 is an awesome performer can could oretty much fly from most airports, and you have to agree, it i a beautiful plane. For the Trident, well they thought it was capable of breaking the sound barrier!
  7. Honest here. You should start a donation pool to get this running faster and have more on this. I would seriously pay to get this running because this could be susceptible to falling through half way through, so we need an incentive. I REALLY REALLY WANT 64bit fsx and DX11. Please if you are going to do this- Hyperthreading compatibility Hex core use(i7 3930k) SLI compatibility. Please don't lead my hopes to nothing. Thanks Pete
  8. I think that CPU speed certainly helps.
  9. MAybe CS are trying to get realistic operations and the problems faced by pilots. Just joking. The weird thing is I get 25FPS or more on my rig at 4.4Ghz quad. Pete
  10. I think an FPS friendly 777 is impossible, but I guess we'll find out in due course. Hopefully it will, but who knows.
  11. The CS 707 is great fun. Love it.
  12. Why do you think PMDG's 777 will have good FPS?
  13. I have connected to quite a small monitor, so performance wise it is not too taxing
  14. Fair enough. Seems my computer is happy with it.
  15. Hey, Stupidly modified this file without making a backup. If anyone has a default one lying around, please can you provide? Thanks, Pete
  16. I had tried raising it. It was originally on 10. Then boosted it to 20, no difference, so I saw what happened and I deleted it and problem is solved. No real performance hitch. Pete
  17. Hey, So this might be a little hard to understand but here goes... I have a strange issue where after about around half a nautical mile distance of view from AI or my own aircraft, it disappears, and I can only see it again by zooming in or having the viewpoint closer. This is very annoying when I'm trying to do a carrier landing and I can't see the ship but can see the white wake of it, or when a B-52 takes off and suddenly disappears, and all I have to do is go to the AI point of view and it is there again. It is really annoying as I want to follow these aircraft and I can't, but most annoyingly the aircraft carrier is the worst. Pete
  18. Fair enough. On the CHristmas list then. Pete
  19. So the A-10 is ground role, pretty much a modernised Stuka. F-86 sure does look elegant. Pete
  20. Oh yeah, what is particularly good about it? Quite interested. How about the Milviz F86?
  21. There is no proper payware for it is there? The Lightning is a joy to fly, shame the fuel tanks beg to differ.
  22. IS the A321 permitted at London City? I thought the A318 was the largest jet around there?
  23. Hey guys, So after moving to a new fancy FSX computer, I decided to turn a new leaf and get interested in some military jets from commercial jets. A breath of fresh air. So I have some of these jets but I'd like to know your opinions about some and what you think I should get. Please could you provide an opinions about the ones I don't have. The ones I have: English Electric Lightning(My favourite). Dino F-14 Milviz F-15E Milviz T-38A IRIS F-22 JF F-111 AV8B Harrier Suggestions of these? VRS F/A-18 Superhornet F-16 Fighting Falcon Milviz F86 Sabre Hawker Hunter J-11B Flanker Typhoon(when it comes out) Any others you might think of? Pete
  24. You'll be surprised actually, with Nvidia surround on my EVGA 670, I was achieving 50 FPS. I was very happy actually. Pete
