Throttles won't return to idle ?
It's been several months since I've flown the PMDG 737 NGX, but I don't recall this happening before. As I start to taxi, I advance the throttles to about 50% and then move them back to idle, but the engines stay at around 50%. I have to ride the brake to taxi and get to the end of runway. Once I start the takeoff roll they function normally and throughout the flight they work fine, they just won't return to idle. I'm using XP with CH Products Yoke. I've calibrated the yoke and all the other controls work fine. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Hearing the Captain speaking ?
I've noticed when I start the pushback from the FMC the captain can be heard talking to the ground crew. Are there any other times when you can hear the captain speaking ? I've always thought it would be a neat feature if you could hear the Captain and the FO calling out the checklists. Is this possible ? Thanks, Lee

Panel never seems to load the same way twice ?
OK, I have the default Ultralight at Friday Harbor when I startup FSX. I have been changing the location to the airport I'm flying out of and changing the time to current then loading it, starting FSDiscover, then changing the plane to the 737NGX. So if I understand correctly, the first thing I need to do is change to the 737NGX, change my location and time and then click Fly Now. I guess I just won't be able to use the FSDiscover program. Is that correct ? Thanks Lee

Panel never seems to load the same way twice ?
Yes, I have a program called FSDiscover and it will not load unless I load a default aircraft first, then start FSDiscover, then switch over to the 737 NGX.

Panel never seems to load the same way twice ?
When normally loading the airplane, the VC panel starts and the Initializing countdown starts from 20 to 0. The airplane automatically starts engines and is ready to program the FMC. Everything appears to operate as it should. About every other time, the airplane is loaded in what appears to be, cold and dark. The Initialization countdown from 20 to 0 never occurs. I haven't found the cold and dark checklist to try and see if I can start from this point, I just usually reboot the PC and the next time I load the airplane, it comes up normally with engines running. Is this normal and is there a way I can get it to start the same way every time ? Thanks, Lee

Applying real world technique ?
Great information guys !!! I had never noticed it before but I will look for it now. Thanks, Lee

Applying real world technique ?
OK, thanks for the info. So does the default FSX 737 or the PMDG 737NGX-800 have roll control ?

Applying real world technique ?
In this video notice from the :09 to :30 sec mark. This shows the partial deployement of the speedbreaks that I'm talking about. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7vPbSL5NGIk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Applying real world technique ?
I've been flying FSX for several years, mainly with the default 737. I've recently purchased the PMDG 737NGX and I've got a question about something that happens in the real world vs the Sim world. On approach I've noticed in real life 737-800's, the speed brakes extend intermittantly and almost like the outer speed break extends less than the inner speed break. As far as I can tell, sometimes the left side speed breaks extend when the right sides do not. It's almost like they are linked to other controls and controlled by the Autopilot. In all of my Sim flying, it seems like when I deploy the speed breaks on decent and approach, they extend all at once to a fully extended position, then as I retract them, they completely retract. Has anyone experienced this before ? In real world, is there a feature of the A/P that controls the speed breaks ? Thanks, Lee

Can't see flaps or speedbrakes move ?
OK, all that makes sense. I switched to a wing view on final approach last night and I could see movement of all the control surfaces as well as the wing flex. I may take a look at FSRecorder. I have recently started using EZDOK. I wonder if it has a replay or record feature ? Thanks for the helpful input. Lee

Can't see flaps or speedbrakes move ?
Yes. After I land and taxi to the gate I hit replay and watch the last 600 sec of my approach and touchdown. This is when I can't see the flaps, speed breaks or wing flex. I've never tried to see the flaps, speed breaks or wing flex during the actual flight. Thanks, Lee.

Can't see flaps or speedbrakes move ?
Hello, When using the outside views I cannot see the flaps or speedbrakes move when they are being deployed or retracted. I'm running a low end system (Dell XPS410, 1.86 dual core, 2gig RAM, NVIDIA GT240/1gig), so I have my sliders moved to the middle setting, especially when flying into KATL and KMEM where I have AFCADS installed. Even when maxing out the sliders and flying into KBNA, where I don't have AFCADS installed, I cannot see the flaps, speedbreaks or Wing Flex moving. I'm guessing I just don't have enough RAM and Processor size to display these effects ? Also, I added the highmemfix=1 entry to the .cfg and I still see the airplane skeleton most of the time. Any thoughts ? Thanks, Lee

Checklist Question.
I've been flying sim for several years now, but I have finally decided to start using the checklists. Someone posted that flying by yourself, especially in larger jets, breeds bad habits and I'm having a heck of a time breaking some of my bad habits. My question is, as the Pilot Flying, when I start the Preflight Checklist and the FO says "Oxygen" and I reply "Tested, 100%", am I actually supposed to check the Oxygen ? And the same holds true for "Instrument Transfer Switches", "Window Heat", "Pressurization Mode Selector" etc, etc? Should I be finding these switches and turning them on or are they already turned on and I just have to verify ?I don't have a clue where most of these systems switches are located nor how to check them if I find them. Am I missing something or are these checklists supposed to be, for the most part, simulated checklists ? I do realize that there are a majority of checklists callouts that I do know what they are talking about, such as, "Setting Flight Instruments", "Parking Brake", "Engine Start Levers" etc.My gut feeling is that I have a lot of learning to do and I'm still using alot of those bad habits that I've learned over the years. Thanks and Merry Christmas !!!Lee

FS2 Crew Default 737 Product Capabilities ?
ridge57 replied to ridge57's topic in FS2CREW: PMDG 737 (FS9), WILCO FEELTHERE 737 PIC AND DEFAULT 737 VOICE COMMANDERYes, thank you very much. I do recall seeing that about the Autopilot set the PF must make the changes and without AP set, the FO would make them.I found those throttle levers and it started up like a dream. Many Thanks and have a Merry Christmas !!!Lee

FS2 Crew Default 737 Product Capabilities ?
Hello,I've watched the videos and read through the manual and I still can't determine if I'm doing something wrong, saying the command wrong or if I'm trying to do something that the software will not do.After completing the After Takeoff checklist and before the Descent checklist, if I want to make heading, speed or altitude changes, should I be able to say "HEADING 180" and the FO make the change in heading for me, or do I still have to physically click the heading bug and change it myself ? The same holds true for "ALTITUDE FL330". Should I be able to speak the command and have the FO execute the command or do I have to physically make the change myself. When I do something like that, he will say "ALTITUDE 330, CHECK" as if he verifying that I made the change but it never happens automatically. Also, is there a detailed Engine Start Procedure Checklist available ? I've read in the various checklists to move the throttle levers to the "idle detent" once N2 is at 20% but I cannot find the idle detent and it's like the rpm hangs at 4% and never goes above that. Thanks,Lee

FSX 3D Virtual Cockpit Autopilot Bug Adjustments ?
Using FSX in windows XP with CH Pro Yoke and Pedals. I'm trying to use 3D virtual cockpit exclusively rather than 2D in preparation for my next major add-od, TrackIR 5. My problem is making adjustments for Autopilot altitude, vertical rate of climb or descent, Heading and Airspeed. When I pan over and zoom in to adjust the altitude, heading and airspeed and place the mouse on the plus or minus bug, the mouse moves off of the bug when the aircraft starts to respond. I'm thinking the easiest way to correct this problem is to program some buttons on my CH Yoke and make the adjustments without having to pan and zoom. I've managed to program buttons on the CH Yoke for increase and decrease .I've also figured out how to assign the CH Yoke buttons to select Autopilot Altitude and Autopilot Heading Bug changes. There is a keyboard shortcut for Autopilot Airspeed Bug Select (Ctrl+Shift+R) but when I go into Options > Controls > Buttons/Keys, I cannot find this listed. My question is, how do I program a button on my CH Yoke for a shortcut that exists but isn't listed. The same holds true for Autopilot Altitude Rate of Decent/Climb. Some of the options I'm looking into include, FSUIPC, CH Control Manager and Roger Dodger Avaition Keyboard Mods. Does anyone have any experience with any of these as far as what I'm trying to accomplish ? Thanks, Lee
