  1. Ok. I will watch for a post from you on that. In the mean time, is there a way to eliminate that from happening? Cheers John Eden
  2. So I tried your suggestion at it seemed to get rid of the issue. I also updated the Fly tampa scenery (which has created problems with it). What do you think is the issue with ASN? Cheers John Eden
  3. Raining; No. Snowing; Yes! That said, I have had it raining or snowing at other airports on other flights and never seen the payload drift/creep up as it was today. Cheers John Eden
  4. No I am not using ground ops at all on this. That was the first thing I checked. It is the load level % category and the ZFW that are slowly increasing. After starting the sim, I loaded the A/C at FlyTampa YYZ and began setting up for a long haul to VHHH. I used the PMDG setup menu to load a long panel state, and then commenced setting the fuel and payload levels. It was after that, as I was going through my checklists when I was setting the pref that I noticed all my weights and load levels had changed. I switched back over to the payload screen on the FMC and noticed that my Payload % had increased over 15% and was still climbing. It ticks up about 0.1% ever 5 -8 seconds. I have tried it now with both the 200 and 300 series and it is doing it on both A/C. cheers and thanks for the interest. John Eden
  5. just using Rex 4 and ASN for the weather radar. and then the long assortment of add-on airports and such. Cheers John
  6. Hi I just competed updating the 777s from the jan 2016 update. I was about to do my first flight and was setting up the A/C payload and fuel. I noticed that once I had entered my load level, it began to drift upwards. It has now done this regardless of how I input the data. By that I mean whether I enter a percentage or enter data in via the individual cabins and baggage sections. So lets say I have entered a load level of 65.2%. First via the FMC it actually loads a level higher then what I input, jumping to somewhere between 68-70%. Secondly, that load percentage then begins to climb slowly (while doing nothing else to the A/C). Every few seconds it adds an additional 0.1%, slowly climbing the A/C to a 100% payload. Has anyone else seen this issue, and does anyone have a solution to fix it. Cheers John
  7. Thanks for the response's so far. Are the programs easy to use together? Or do they have conflicts with each other? using REX for textures would I have to start the program each time i want to sim? or is REX (for textures) like pay ware add-on airports, install once and your set each time you launch the sim? Cheers John E
  8. Its time to take that plunge and take my FS to the next level with a weather add-on/texture package, something i have put off for a long time. Seems like both products have their pros and cons, and both have new products that seem pretty advanced and easy to work with. Given that exclusively fly PMDG birds, thought I would ask you lot for your thoughts and recommendations on which is better. Cheers John E.
  9. Your right 77west. I mis-typed a bunch referring to STARs while calling them SIDs. I was rushing and should have re-read my note before posting. Good catch and thanks for the heads up.
  10. And now for something completely different.... Um to the third poster in this subject on ATC Vectors I hate to burst your bubble but vectors are not that efficient. As a real world ATC Controller myself, you get far fewer A/C in by vectoring. Now a days if you want to maximize your traffic flows in an out we use the STARs and SIDs as much as possible (Preferably RNAV based), and only vector when needed. Especially with arrivals, most of the SIDs (RNAVs) have continuous decent profiles built into them. These RNAV SIDs along with the ever increasing precision of the nav systems on the aircraft allow for a much tighter patter (we can literally run everyone usually at 3 miles sep minus the A380s and Heavys), while the A/C descend on the SID. Vectoring was the old school way of increasing traffic flow, but now a-days we try and avoid it, if possible and just run as many planes as we can on the RNAV SIDs. Oh and people have literally done PHds on this increased efficiency of RNAV SIDs vs Vectors and vectors are far less efficient then they are. one of the studies I personally read on this subject was centered on KATL. The research team even mapped out the routes and time flown by hundreds of A/C when on ATC Vectors vs when they were placed on RNAV routes. The A/C on vectors routinely flew about 4-8 min longer then on RNAV routes. Don't get me wrong, vectors have there place and I do use them almost every day, they just are not usually the most efficient when dealing with high traffic flow periods. Again sorry dude to burst your bubble.
  11. If you want the shadows on and dont want that grapics issue all you have to do is go into your video card settings and tell the card to force the anti-aliasing regardless of the program your running. I run a similar card to you and it in the cards settings under 3d. It's a little box you just unclick. If the box is checked it says it will revert the video cards settings to those in the programs you run (such as fsx). Uncheck this box and voila it will force your card setting to any program you run. Doing this should fix your shadow issue and then you can fly with the shadows turned on (as long as you have your cards anti-aliasing turn up high). I recommend cranking your cards setting to the max. Cheers John E.
  12. The second picture is what it used to be. The first is what I was getting. I sorted out the issue though. I just went into my graphics cards settings and told the card to force the AA settings regardless of what program is running. Took me a couple of days to figure it all out but its back to looking like what you see in the second picture. WRT to missing tires, I also just updated KLAX from FSDT to the latest available version, and I now have wheels in all my tugs B) Thanks all for the interest in helping out. Cheers John E.
  13. Hi Guys I love the NGX. Yesterday I was playing around with some graphics settings in FSX. I was just seeing if I could push the envelope a wee bit more. I didn't like what I got and so I reverted back to my old settings, which normally give me a pretty sweet looking bird anyways. Now however, its as if the antialiasing and anisotropic settings in FSX will not apply to the NGX. The NXG now looks like I'm running the settings in FSX on the basic setup. I dont think it is a problem with FSX as this issue does not appear with any other addon aircraft or sceneries. In fact I was toying around with the settings again today to try and determine if it was a FSX problem, and I could clearly see the downgrades in the addon scenery and other aircraft when I lowered the settings and turned off the anti-alasign. But nothing changes in the way of the graphics and the NGX. It just looks really bad now all of the time in the external model views ( with a little bit of issues in the Virtual cockpit, but nothing like the exterior). Wondering if you guys or girls know of any other things I can do to try and fix this. I have attached to pics so you can get an idea of the kind of graphics I used to get, and can compare them with what I am getting now. Thanks for your help with this Cheers John E.
  14. Mine will have a king size bed in the back (actually in the room next door to the "flight deck", with my beautiful wife sleeping in it, and often saying things like "just turn the dam computer off and come to bed". To quickly add to the long haul/siting there for long hours staring at a screen debate: I'm a grad student who also works full time, so having lots of time to just sit and fly is not an option. I often put a long haul flight on, and then do work on the laptop or read one of the countless books or articles I always seem to have on the go. Its nice to have the option to do those long hauls, so I can get some real world work done while also doing the sim thing, which I enjoy. Thats also why it will be sweet to have the 777. Its my favorite long haul bird, and it will be nice to have a plane with the level of detail or better then the NGX. I do fly the NGX a bunch, but only when I have an hour or two to do a nice little hop somewhere that doesn't require me paying attention to the real world for a bit. So to end my two cents, I have no issues with guys who put on a long haul flight and then go about their lives, tending to work and family, periodically checking in on their bird every now and then. I do this quite often, because thats what life is like for those of us who have families and responsibilities. We have to be willing to divide our time and attention, or we would never accomplish anything. The fact is, I doubt anyone out there truly sits in front of their computer for those long 8 - 12 + hr flights and with undivided attention, monitors their virtual progress to wherever they are going. In this day and age of over-stimulation, I would bet huge money in Vegas that most people, in fact I would say darn near close to 100% of them, do other things while on the long haul routes. The real question is are they willing to admit it and be honest about it, or do they hope we just buy into the BS they put out when they tell us otherwise. Cheers John E.
  15. +1It only takes a brief look and their screen shots to see that all the visual models are well behind even the default FSX birds (not that these were that great either, but visually they are better). There seems to have been no effort to try and take advantage of any of the latest graphics capabilities of todays computers.KE
