  1. Thank you everyone for your input. I think I will try to use the 6870 until I can afford an Nvidia card. I have looked around at the Nvidia GTX cards and its somewhat confusing with the different versions. For example, after each name it says TI, Superclocked, FTW or its got triple voltage. What I've come up with is that I should aim for is the EVGA GTX 660 Ti overclocked. Does that sound like a good idea? Should I get a different version that isn't pre-overclocked?
  2. I feel like I’m beating a dead horse by asking this question, but getting feedback from an expert FSX community would definitely make up my mind rather than my non-FSX friends. I have a Radeon 6870 that I was planning to put into my build and after reading various guides and forum postings it looks like I should not have purchased it. The price of Nvidia 580s and 680s are currently out of my reach. I could save up for it in however I don’t know if it will be worth it. That’s why I turn to your help. Basically I want to complete PMDG 737-NGX tutorial 2 landing without having lag with/without REX. Is that possible? I feel like if I can do that my computer will handle just about anything else I would want to try. So far I have these components: i5-3570k Asus P8Z77- V-pro Seasonic 750W Seagate 3TB HDD Corsair Carbide 500R Should I sell the 6870 and put it towards an Nvidia card? I don't have enough experience to decide on my own and reading forums I haven’t found someone in my position.
  3. Maybe try loading a new panel state through the FMC? I would load cold and dark and then pre-set one. Maybe its just a glitch when there was a plane near you.
  4. I am not 100%, but I think the off position is to pressurize the landing gear bay. So after the landing gear is up you pull the handle to the off position.George G.
  5. I don't know why, but the take-off part of the movie brings tears to my eyes. It is beautiful and the music is just so inspiring. It reminds me of why I love aviation. You are good!-George
  6. Amazing! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I followed your steps and now I have much better frame rates. Also the black preview screen is GONE. And the load time for the plane is much faster. I am getting 12-30 FPS now in VC.I still have lag during the system initialization, but it goes away after 10 sec or so. I am SOOO excited.Should I go ahead with ******* Altuve's optimzation program following the PMDG instructions?Thank you so much!-George
  7. Thanks for the quick responses!!Hey mbunjes, should I uninstall FSX or PMDG 737ngx before I download Direct X most recent version? Or it doesn't matter?
  8. Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and this is not the type of first post I wanted to make. I'm asking for help with 737NGX that I recently purchased. I know there is massive amounts of information on this website and other websites along with PMDG documentation however... the reason I am asking for help on this website is because the community here has experience, a lot of experience. I can't tell where the problem lies, my computer, setup procedure, computer/FSX settings or something else. Before I try ******* Altuve's fix or any other modifications I want to make sure I didn't do something wrong in the first place. So, here goes:During the installation everything was fine until I had to let it install Direct X. It crashed maybe 10 seconds into it. I pretty much ignored it and decided it would be a good idea to uninstall the PMDG planes and then re-install. So the 2nd time I installed it, I just stopped the installer from getting Direct X. When I started FSX afterwards, there were maybe 4-6 popups saying "Should I allow this program to run" and it was all PMDG related, so naturally I said yes. When I select the PMDG 737NGX (any of them) from Free Flight screen, it lags FSX, takes like 30 sec for the plane to load, I get a black screen in the preview window. Eventually it loads like other planes and I start in the virtual cockpit, I get around 5-12 FPS. If I go outside of the plane I get around 25-35. Even with REX running. My system meets the requirements for these planes so I don't know if I installed it wrong because of the problems I ran into, or if its my computer. Also as soon as the loading is over there is a green bar "initializing systems" and during this time my FPS is around 2-5.Here are my Specs:Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bitIntel® Core2 Quad CPU Q9650 @ 3.00GHz (4 CPUs)6144MB RAMDirectX 11GeForce GTS 240 1GBI was thinking that windows firewall might be blocking some of the PMDG files and thus creating a mess. It could even be direct X. Or maybe I should re-install FSX into C: folder? I just don't know where to start, that's mainly why I am posting here.-George
