Ian, The instructions on the magdec update states that the magdec is in the scenery\base\scenery folder so I am now going to check this and apply the update and see if the problems are solved. Good Day All, I have been having this problem for a while now and was very interested in the above possible solutions. Ian, your comments re the magdec bgl file. I have checked both my backed up fs9 and my using fs9 and cannot find a magdec bgl file in either of the scenery\generic\scenery folders. I have located the magdec bgl file in Disc 3 under MSGAME8.cab magdec.bgl at 130468 kb. Could you possibly give me your advice as to how to copy this file off the disc into my fs9 as you suggest and also do you have a suggestion as to why it didn't get copied when I did the install ( I did not get any messages re corrupted files when I did the install ) Colinb, you note that a replacement magdec file is available. Could you please advise where I can obtain it. Many thanks Mike

Hi All, Many thanks, tried the registry repair and it did not work. Downloaded the revo uninstalled my EVP 3.1 and 4.0 with evo. reinstalled both 3.1 and 4.0 ran them and they both work perfectly again. What I cant understand is that the original message no longer appears yet there is still no \MicroSoftGames\FlightSimulator\9.0 in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE regedit.exe Never mind, at least it works!!!!! Good Day All Tried to do an update today with my long installed EVP 3.1 and got the following message "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MicrosoftGames\FlightSimulator\9.0 is missing or does not point to a valid installation of Flight Simulator. If you do not know how to fix this problem manually please re install Flight Simulator" \I have checked in the REGEDIT files and indeed there is no \MicrosoftGames\FlightSimulator\9.0 after the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\. When I check HKEY_CURRENT_ USER everything is there. Can anyone help with how to fix this problem manually as I would hate to have to re install my fs9 and all my addon sceneries. Thanks ou toppie

Hi CoolP My boxed version was for fs9 and was bought soon after it was released(it is version 3.2) The PA31T was only available at that time for fs9 not fsx. I have added the 4.0 patch for it at no cost from Aerosoft. I would now like the fsx version but am not willing to have to buy the package which includes the fs9 version when I have already purchased it once. I do not know when the fsx version was released so I cannot help you I am afraid. ou toppie

Hi LeeL, I copied the gauges and effects items pertaining to the PA31 from the fs9 gauges and effects folders into the gauges and effects folders for fsx. The sound, textures and modules files are in the aircraft folders which I have copied from the fs9 aircraft folder to the fsx simobjects/airplane folder. I cannot find any other folders in fs9 with references to the DA PA31T. To onduty. My boxed version for fs9 works very well on W764bit. I have been in contact with Aerosoft support and they tell me they will NOT do an exchange disc programme for the PA31T fs9 only version for people like you and me who have bought the fs9 version. Nor will they make it possible for us to buy the fsx download only. So, in effect it means we have to buy the fs9 version AGAIN if we want the fsx version. I am now looking for an alternative twin turboprop for fsx as I consider the Aerosoft attitude to be unacceptably inflexible. The official v4.0 patch is still available for the fs9 version on the Aerosoft web site. Just go to their site, register your copy of the boxed version and then they will let you download the patch. Thanks LeeL, I copied the 4 aircraft files from fs9 aircraft folder to fsx simobjects/aircraft folder, Copied Digital Aviation file from fs9 exe to fsx exe Copied all files with PA ref from fs9 effects to fsx effects Copied all files with PA ref from fs9 gauges to fsx gauges. could not find any other folders with PA ref in them I then started up fsx, checked that all the versions/variants were in the options list of available aircraft. Then I chose one of them and told fsx to Fly Now. FSX ran through the procedure of asking me to accept the software from the gauge/sounds etc and I said yes to them all and it started to load the aircraft and then stopped and up came the message Microsoft Flight Simulator has a problem and the program must close. I tried it once more with a different variant of the PA-31 and got the same result. It did not ask me to ok the gauges/sound the second time so it must have accepted them into the system. Thanks LeeL. Have tried moving as you suggest and all versions appear in aircraft list when running fsx but when I select one of them and press fly now fsx says it has a problem and shuts down. I am going to ask Aerosoft when/if they are going to do a payware portover as they have done with other originally fs9 only aircraft releases. Thanks for the help all. ou toppie

Thanks for the suggestions. My fs9 Cheyenne is the boxed edition not the downloaded one. I have checked Aerosofts website for a changeover patch but they do not give one. I don't think there is a way to just drop it into the simobjects/airplanes folder as there are textures/sounds/gauges etc to add also and I am not familiar with these sort of manipulating files/folders. Guess I might just have to wait till I can afford to buy the fsx version. ou toppie

Good day, I fly the DA Aerosoft PA-31T for fs9 regularly, have had it since its release in 06. All the models featured fly very well. Is there anyone out there who knows whether there is a way to convert it for fsx?? ou toppie

Thanks to Wingz and Maribell for your suggestions and advice and I will download both the scenery mgr and scenery config editor for future use. Yesterday I remembered that I had a copy of the Flight1 FS9/FSX registry repair tool on the library flash drive where I keep all my FS support info so I ran it through FS9 and low and behold all Is back to normal and I am back to flying into FAJS and FACT with all building back in place. I have no idea what was wrong but whatever it was the repair tool must have found it and fixed it. Thanks again to all who helped. Mike

Hi No AI program, and after the new install of fs9 a couple of months ago I have only installed the Aeroworx airport worx01.zip, worx01a.zip for FAJS and the worx09.zip for FACT along with all the other airports from Aeroworx and they have worked well with no problems for the last couple of months. The only other addons I have installed are some WOAI packages for airlines using VHHH and I TTooled them to fly into VHHX as I have installed Flytampas Kai Tak. But this should not have affected SA and its airports surely. When I did the new reinstall of fs9 I also added all the Aeroworx mesh and terrain files and they all installed correctly and look ok. Don't know where to go next. ou toppie

Good Day, As per the topic. I have quite happily been flying around South Africa for a couple of months now with my newly reinstalled fs9 and the scenery/airports from Aeroworx, until yesterday when, flying into FACT, I found only taxiways/gate signs and parking areas. The airport and associated buildings gone leaving only a green/yellow/black area with nothing on it. Tried other airports in SA and eventually found the same thing had happened at FAJS. All other airports(default and Aeroworx) are all good. I tried reinstalling the worx01.zip and worx01a.zip for FAJS and the worx09.zip for FACT but, apart from rewriting some files nothing is any better. Before I go into the uninstall/reinstall FS9 mode can anyone out there give me some suggestions to try to fix?? Thanks in anticipation ou toppie

Hi All, Many thanks with the info for desktop composition etc. Done the run as administrator/XP service pack 2 etc and no different. Romflyer--- have had a look at your views suggestions and run into a couple of problems. When I put up a new small view in the main window the drop down menu quite clearly shows an option for undocking it but the option is greyed out so I cant use it. I have gone into the learning centre and read the Views information and it talks about the undocking and dragging/resizing of the new view but I still cannot undock as the option is greyed out and nothing happens when I click on it. Also,at the beginning of the paragraph on Views in the learning centre there is a video available for more info from the King School. When I click the go icon on the video to be able to watch it I get the screen telling me that MFS has stopped working and that a problem has caused the program to stop working. It does this every time I try to watch the video. I have had a look on the fs forums but can find no references for this. So I guess I just have to live with it, although why MS would put an option in a drop down box and then not let you use it beats me Regards ou toppie
