I'll add my voice to MS/Asobo working with HiFi. Let them improve weather as Working Title has improved the avionics.

This was asked. Seb gave a generic answer that sometimes things get broken but that's why they have flighting (beta). Jorg chimed in that they were alerted by Kai but did not offer any specific timeline

Thanks turbomax and flyforever for your responses!
Sounds like a steep learning curve to get setup but once you overcome those hurdles, it works well.
I've found these two setup videos -the Flightsim & Other Stuff one doesn't go through the same level of assigning specific numbering to all the keys as does TOGATech.
Which is the preferred route in your experience?
Also has anyone had experience with this add on found flightsim.to?

Hi Folks,
I see that it is possible to use the Behringer X-touch mini as an input device when coupled with Axis & ohs.
I'm considering purchasing one and am interested in hearing people's feedback who have used it.
Use case would typically be for G1000 in C172 and use with the WTmod CJ4
Any experience specifically with those uses would ideal but also interested in general happiness with the setup.
Thanks,
Chris

If only METAR based weather could be an option that can be turned on or off -kind of like a reduced functionality legacy flight model -but alas I can see the difficulty of tyring to support both options
Agreed the promised richness of the weather system has not been realized and has been partially borked to satisfy the desire for METARs.

Silly me bought the birds addon for NE Canada, and saw a small flock of geese the other day flying over the runway as I was cleared for TO. This is a great thing including the rare bird strike and hopefully they will get all the way there, and I think they may well some day, Asobo that is. Maybe even some day ATC will comment when those birds are in the vicinity of the airport you're near.
Actually heard a bird warning on CYYZ's ATIS broadcast on Friday morning, so having those in the game would be a neat addition.

I had CYYZ from FlyTampa back when I was regularly fying P3D and enjoyed it although it struggled a bit on frame rates.
Went and purchased the MSFS one today and have flown around it with AIG Traffic active -other than the ADE files it was a feast to behold. Perhaps not as up to date but certainly fantastic textures and good perfomance. Pleased with my purchase.

Having been to Australia, I can confirm that the constellations that are visible from both north and south of the equator e.g. Orion appear upside down relative to my usual orientation seen from near Toronto. Hard to believe people can believe this flat earth stuff.

Henrik,
Thank you so much for all your efforts in sprearheading this vast upgrade of the shipping ecosystem over the sim default shipping. Thanks to all of your collaborators on this project as well.
The community is blessed to have individuals such as yourselves giving so freely of themselves.

I recall reading that some of the SDK items they were looking are not planned to be implemented, MSFS has move forward.
They've continued to develop projects like cockpit builder's edition (talk about niche) and are soon to release the training edition for P3D. I'm not sure how much of their heart is into making the switch to MSFS even in light of the vastly improved sales numbers they would experience.

Your local windows settings do not allow usage of paths longer than 256 characters! This can cause problems during an installation-process. Should we AIM now enable long paths in your Windows Registry?
Did someone had the same issue? To be honest i don't like to mess with Registry.
thanks
I went ahead and said yes. No problems in AIG or elsewhere so far.

The only mention of AIG is in the Top Wishes list. I'd like to see some specific mention and a paragraph or two. Perhaps make the picture of the week contest about busy airports

Thanks ChaoticBeauty.
Hope they acknowledge the remarkable release of AI traffic this week by AIG in the next update as the featured freeware mod or something like that.

5 hours ago, EasternT3 said:Basically, the AS addon is a paid addon, and all it does is reskins the default Asobo models (the horrible ones) with real world liveries, to an unrealistic extent. i.e. you will have easyjet/ryanair liveries on the asobo 'a330' model
AIG uses its own models, i.e. an A330, will look like an A330, an A380 will look like a A380 as so on, it uses real world flight plans and the best thing it's free,
I am probably missing a few others pros for AIG, but for me AIG is the more realistic option and it's free, and Aerosoft have even said there simple traffic is not meant as a full AI traffic solution, more a temporary fix until there's a more complete solution, which AIG is
My experience with AIG in P3D was that it was so good at creating a 'living airport' that sometimes I would just park my plane on the apron of FlyTampa's CYYZ and watch the planes taking off and landing. Virtual plane spotting, if you will. The AIG schedules closely matched the real world schedules shown in FlightAware (pre-Covid).
As mentinoned above -better models, better liveries, realistic schedules and realistic airport population.

@FrankPilot Thanks very much for posting the video. Enjoyed the history of the oldest airport and the aerial tour of the Melbourne area. If I ever make it back to Australia, I won't want to miss Melbourne.

I suspect that most of the Asobo programmers are not going to be helping with Chinese localization.
Distressing that Kai is only getting high level communication via Jorg - I would hope that they'd put Kai in touch with the team working on that 'started' item. Also wondering if WT will get involved since they will be tackling ATC and that certainly will need to interact with AI traffic as well

On 10/9/2021 at 8:53 PM, FrankPilot said:@ctalpas, thanks for your comment, and yes I have, especially since I was one of the airport engineers that installed all the airport lighting at YMML in the 1970s, born & bred in Melbourne, learned to fly at YTYA & YMMB etc etc. But for Sydney I had great Orbx payware for the airport and the city whereas there is none for Melbourne yet - I keep posing about that elsewhere! I think I read there is some technical issue with the sim scenery around Melbourne. Maybe I will have to go with the Melbourne scenery the way it is. There is some freeware I might look at again. Do you have any particular reason for wanting Melbourne (other than I live there)?Cheers.
@FrankPilot When I visited Australia a few years back,we took in Sydney, Port Douglass, Darwin, Uluru and then back to Sydney, My better half was not interested in yet another destination, so Melbourne didn't make it. I've had colleagues who lived in Melbourne and said it was quite impressive and compared well to Sydney. Don't think I'll be going to Australia again any time soon, so thus my desire to experience it vicariously . You being from there brought back the desire to see Melbourne and what better guide than a local.

Dear FrankPilot,
Have you ever thought of doing something similar for the Melbourne area in which you reside?

Mentour Pilot 737 training videos
in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Posted
Petter from Mentour Now and Ben from AirlinePilotPerformance are presenting a series of training videos on getting the 737 cockpit setup from cold and dark to programming the FMC to getting the plane airborne. They each have about 20 years of experience on the 737 and are training pilots.
They go into detail as to the why's of the procedures. Hope those using the PMDG 737 might find these helpful.
