  1. Bought it. Like it. Something different. (Haven't flown the basic version so I can't and won't compare.) What I do like (for instance) is the new radio: it even has some (DRUM ROLL...) FEATURES!

    1. When you set a VOR and have NAV enabled, you see the DME information on the left (nothing special) but when you click on the SEL button, you see the Direct to course, so the heading you need to fly to fly directly to the VOR station, without having to turn the OBS at ALL. I like that! Add or substract 180 and you also immediately know on which radial you are. Again, without having to turn the OBS knob.

    2. When you press the OBS button you get a digital readout of your current OBS setting. Nice but not as nice as the SEL option.

The plane has an real high def feel over it: it looks pretty good and detailed, very sharp, but maybe that's also due to the modern appearance.

All in all it incomparable with the Maule, really... It's truly something different. Not the plane I was hoping for, let that be clear, but I am happy to have it in my hangar!

BTW This plane almost seems to take off like a heli...!!!

    Tutorial ????

  2. One thing I discovered since using Plan G , is that when I fly with Gmap I can switch back and forth from the Google Map Navaid Terrain view and the sectionals that I bought for Alaska, with the red flight plan line still there. For awhile, when I decided to order the Navaid data from Gmap, because I wanted the airports and frequencies of Vors and ILS. etc, I thought that the money I spent on the Sectionals for Gmap would be wasted. But now I see that there are times when I prefer the sectionals displayed, for terrain clearance, and other times when I use the Navdata view. Nice to have and use them both.

Took your advise and got Navaid and Sectionals. AEC maps didn't seem to be what i wanted for GMAP, not as detailed and not for low speed planes at lower altitudes.

  3. I can confirm that I too have the airplane icon always oriented in a NNE direction.

Does not matter if I start Gmap while in the air, disconnect and reconnect, it is always pointed that way - not a big deal, but if there is a fix for it in the future will be nice...

So what do you folks normally display your Gmap in - terrain, roads, satellite , or hybrid? Not sure I see any real difference between hybrid and satellite - at least not that I have yet noticed.

First, big ups to J van E for all his great contributions.

OK, re NNE direction, I find that when I start flying, it straightens out to show correct heading. Try turning your plane here and there to get its attention.

Hybrid WAS working until yesterday, now it is the same as satellite, so it's not just you.

Don't laugh, maybe it's due to the solar flare going on right now. messing up GPS.
