  1. Yes I should clarify MY joystick works out of the box. Now just need to install my software for my stick.
  2. Let me retract my statement and not drop to a level i dont like either. I apologize and Hook I will take your advice sir thank you.
  3. FG 10 is available and voila! joystick out the box woohoo.
  4. Author has a Mobile version coming soon.... got a peak at it
  5. Being new to flight sims I gotta admit I own both FSX and now FS2004 and I admit I like FS2004 better. It just runs better and I haven't had a flight yet over an hour or so in FSX that didn't crash. Is that just me or is that typical?
  6. I don't think anyone ever said you had to use it. Really this information on here is for people interested in FG not the opposite. I agree with the Dr. above about it isn't for everyone but nothing ever is. As for the 10 times better versus 100 times better it was just a phrase to use. I may have gone from 2.4 to 2.8 and for MY experience. Which I couldn't hardly get 2.4 running, to 2.8 installing and running no problem it was 100% better. But again that is me and my experience. As for ingame flying, cockpits, terrain, planes n such I am hard to find a difference among them (talking stock versions) that i would say is a deal breaker for me. Some things are better in either. As for build cycle I am not sure. Seems 2.6 to 2.8 came pretty quick. **NOTE** I should have looked BEFORE posting but on the FG Wiki the Release Plan states 100 Days til 3.0 is to be released. Here is the wiki: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Release_plan
  7. depends is it through Steam? i had to download them outside Steam to get all my DLC. hit me up if you cant get it working.and maybe they can move our posts to the appropriate section.
  8. I wouldnt say better only different. It does things differently and if I was to say yes for Stability wise I would also say that FSX has it beat when it comes to Payware airports and planes. Also you don't have Air Hauler or a few others that I would like to see in FG but like i said its only a matter of time before someone makes those. And I do have admiration for FS2004 but I am really starting to like FG as a whole. I love the fact you can get scenery upgrades by grid which is awesome without paying. And the addon planes are really good but again Payware does have em beat. But for free the whole package is great.
  9. already has in stability, Looks wise its there especially with all the free terrain and planes, which are only getting better as well. if they get the installer a little better looking and the flight stick configuration easier to customize, which they are saying is done in 3.0 it will be a solid. And the future only looks brighter with the fact it is always being worked on unlike FSX.
  10. yes you have made that abundantly clear... over and over and over and over again.... just like Flight. Well I haven't had FG lock up and crash yet, despite the superior product known as FSX crashing on me more than a few times. So I would say they all have there downsides. BUT the good thing about FG is someone is still working on it to make it better where in FSX case, it is no longer supported by the manufacturer and unless they release the source i doubt those bugs that cause it to crash will ever get fixed. As for the guy stating in 5 to 10 years it will get better.. 2.8 is already 100x better than 2.6 and I assume 3.0 which will come out soon will be ever better than 2.8 by a significant margin. I don't see it taking years to get it better. I think it will be alot sooner that it not only catches FSX in quality but surpasses it in stability.
  11. I don't get the hostility towards FG. I mean I watch you all whine absurdly how MS F's you in the rear but someone offers you a free alternative and it isn't good enough for you? Alot of you complain to just complain. geesh now you got me complaining ABOUT the complaining lol. anyways since now its the only game in town that is actually being developed i am gonna give it a shot before i give up on it. That means i am gonna learn it so I am correct in my complaints and not just someone trying to increase post counts. Also the guy who says there are nightly builds I am not finding them. Any link you can throw my way?
  12. wow I didn't find anything wrong with the install going through and I did it on Windows 7 and Windows 8 32 and 64 bit systems. I think those who are arguing the / or \ thing are just looking to complain because it isn't FSX. Anyways I am having stability issues in flight like my joystick isn't calibrated correctly. Anyone have a link where I could look into fixing it? I am using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Other than making it hard to land I can fly pretty well it just gets squirrelly when I start moving the joystick alot to get ready to land or take off. Other than that it looks great and runs extremely well. I think it is the Flight sim of our near future and I wanna see if I can get a good hold of how to set it up so I can teach others i play with to enjoy it as well. So any help would be appreciated.
  13. lol my point EXACTLY it had nothing to do with Steam that game just sucked.
  14. I own probably close to 200 games in Steam, been a member for like 8 years and never had any issues with Steam. Most of those that people do have issues it's usually their problem not steams or the actual developer of the game. People assume because it's on Steam it's a Steam issue. Not the case. FFOW is a great example.
  15. I am new to Flight and I installed FG 2.8 the other day and found it pretty good actually.Played well for not having the joystick configured. I am not sure the issues people are having because my FSX crashes on a pretty consistent basis so whether its freeware or not there are issues .So if you are going to give it a chance give it a fair chance and learn it. I am currently trying to get my joystick configured as well and once I do i'll be set I believe.
