Next to my home town! Nice shots...great place to fly in RW as well!

just downloaded FTX Trees! I haven't really tested a whole lot but out of the box I cannot confirm nor see an FPS increase...

ahh! The infamous popcorn clouds in v2.5
I started the thread Popcorn Clouds Continue in 2.5 which is still going on without a fix....only an OKAY work around...I am glad however another post went up of this. Maybe we can get some more input/development info.
I use ASN and REX4 (with softclouds) I needed to tweak my cloud.fx file to raise the multiplier to 0.64 to blend the clouds better. I still see popcorn clouds and cringe over FL330+. I have re installed on an %100 clean windows system after a complete rebuild and reformat. REX, LM and ASN all know about this...each blame it on each other lol.

I'd recommend you view on your desktop. Their are annotations/chapter links because of the length of this video.
I landed safety in Toronto from KJFK (2 big time FPS dropping cities) using SEVERAL addons listed...check it out!

Not too big of a deal for me! Just stressed my P3D and made it to my destination np!..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWe-BSTz77k

In your aircraft options. Resetable siren (or something along those lines) I'm just at work but it is an option in your FMC.

wow.
This is shocking news. Thought it was pretty certain.....Still keeping hope! lolI am curious as too why then PMDG was saying that they needed to work on things so that when P3D goes 64 bit they would be ready to make the jump....lol I guess it didn't sound 'official'
From PMDG Jan 8th 2015
"It is anticipated that P3D will be offered in an x64 variation at some point in the future. PMDG will be monitoring development of the x64 version of P3D in order to manage the process by which we begin offering x64 compatible versions of our products for P3D users.
Based on our knowledge of the process at this time, we anticipate that x64 upgrades will be made available to licensed users of PMDG products at no cost. This information is subject to change pending the development, testing and release of an x64 version of P3D."
I guess the words chosen where carefully placed in case there is no 64 bit lol

I go .63 to ''hide' my popcorn clouds not "fix" lol
Also you see a lot of screenshots people claiming clouds are fine...well a lot of them are not over FL310-FL350+ (where you see them the most).
I am OKAY (I guess) with using the quad width + height workaround for now, I would love to see this get resolved.
Knowing I have a manual/personal touch in my cloud.fx coding makes it hard to sleep at night! (lol)

What "news" would you like?. The link is in the "Best answer" post which is green and at the top of the page of the thread.
When I posted the link wasn't working.....that's why I wanted an updated. It is working now....Thanks.

Hey guys, any news on a download link?
Wanted to try this out. Going to be using P3D v2.5.12944

Think FT had better fix their CYYZ before I would even consider any other product. If you can't fly heavy metal in there at reasonable setting, what's the point?
Have you installed their LITEX package?.....they say if you have any plane addon (specificlaly PMDG and Aerosoft) that its recommended. Their config tool also has several options to get it flyable.
-
Its not the 4gb patch. I am sure you probably didn't pan a view and just loaded slightly less textures after you patched it...top down view loads a LOT of textures so maybe your view cycling wasn't identical, leading to a different texture load...The 4GB patch won't benefit P3D v2.x.
What will help your Toronto Flytampa scenery is installing the Litex pack they offer from their download link email. They recommend it in their manual for anyone using a plane addon and it still looks great. In addition don't check opaque terminal glass in the FT Configuration.
Also, a lot of the sliders you set to very low settings won't effect the VAS load Toronto airport has.....If your LOD radius is slammed down, you will still load all of Toronto airport textures, if your complexity is down, you will still load all of Toronto airport textures, if tessellation is down you will STILL load all of Toronto airport textures; your VAS will go down because of what surrounds the airport but the main airport will still load fully.
For me I was not able to fly into Toronto using a good addon before installing the Litex pack. With the Litex pack and some options ticked off in their config tool my home town airport is better than ever!

Gentlemen I got referenced a lot in this thread and I was away all weekend! I am sorry for not touching base. Its 930EST on Monday and I just went through it!
I think this is normal behavior, as only people with payware add-ons have improved "scenery" addons that surpass the default by a large margin as seen in George's video
The LOD radius is the LOD radius, shouldn't matter the scenery. If you see a blurry perimeter its just the P3D limit with a combination of hardware. I see you have HT on. In my video I don't have it active. I find HT off eliminates my blurries for me. Maybe do some tests with HT off.
Try George's settings first. I am going to suggest again to the Moderators that his post be made a sticky in the P3d General forum as it would save new users a lot of time and trouble.
Thank you sir! Will be making a next one on VAS stress testing.

Wow....simming at 4K and recording at 4K.....what a tank.
Just a question....How long did it take youtube to process this lol
-
Just add a 1 on your optimize all my airports sucker line in cfg file - lol kidding
Then while your at it add OOMs=0 under SIM section
-
Jose we have the same hardware (apart from some minor game players) I just recently shared my settings and 'tweaks'
Maybe you can give them a try? report back with pros/cons

I actually was getting popcorn clouds from ground level too and no, I did not go up this high to test - I will tonight though.
Well, yes you can tell you will be seeing them once you get high....lol So the effect is still on the ground you are correct (but tolerable). Once your up there its show time! Extra butter for me please.
-
Thanks Jacek for sharing your findings. Can you confirm you where way up to FL320+ thats where you can really start seeing them....below or under the clouds they look descent.
-
Nice video George almost the same settings as me - especially rex settings but no gpu over clocking - been tinkering with NI - so give yours a go see what happens - thank you
You know what, I was always like you, but since I didn't get an over-clocked card I gave it some more juice....nothing the 980 can't handle, however.
Also I have been monitoring temps and they are almost identical as stock...Gives me great smoothness
-
GTX980 + 4790K as well as other users hope you can test and comment!
Just a note...I am going through settings fast so I can keep it as short as possible for a small upload....just pause the video if your duplicating lol!
-
I have not done testing with the default clouds. I installed REX without a texture backup (I don't bother backing up because I re-install every update)
Can someone just launch up to FL350+ and take a screenshot with default clouds and share it?
-
I'm glad your happy of your findings Aaron but this isn't good news for TD4 buyers like myself :(
Can someone from REX comment on to why OD clouds look fine and TD4 clouds (which is a newer product) look poor?
-
One person on LM forum reports lower performance from this driver. Can anyone else comment?
Ya but he also said he uses "Max Sliders" with the PMDG T7 in CYVR with FSDT's airport and ORBX's PNW.....Giving him 33 FPS and only has a GTX780! lol.....This will never happen Unless you aren't using any REX and Vector....Maybe he gets 33 in his wing view.
The driver's documentation states it added GTX Titan X support (which just released) and added some other app profiles. I went and updated my GTX980 to .88 and I have confirmed no upgrade or downgrade in FPS.

I would do a couple things....
Try to disable the shared card via the BIOS then I would check power options within windows.
It would need to be in High Performance.
