  1. Thanks, it must have missunderstood me I now realise when I'm looking at the log indeed. Thanks, will get it right shortly! Marcel
  2. Hi Dave, Tried that but that did not work as expected. When I'm ready to take off and report ready for IFR release I get an 'oudated flight plan' message. Tried a few times even reporting ready for IFR clearance immediately after receiving IFR clearance but that does not help. Cannot try anymore as my demo period is now over. Still like the SW (and the great support!) so I'll probably buy a license soon ;-) File your flight plan and try again. beach Mike Foxtrot November Papa Hotel Mike Foxtrot November Ready for IFR Clearance to Echo L Hotel Lima; Papa Hotel Mike Foxtrot November is cleared to Echo Delta Delta Lima as filed. 3. Thanks, that worked! Got a frequency (just out of curiosity, where does it get the frequency from? I could not find that frequency somewhere on a map). Now what do I say when I'm ready to take off after being told to let them no I'm no 1? (tried different things among "ready for departure" but that did not work) Thanks, Marcel
  4. Hi, I'm really starting to like the program (and it's great support!). Now I have a question: I want to take off from EHTE (uncontrolled) and I know that in reality you would get clearance by phone. I found a forum post mentioning this is simulated by getting clearance via nearby airportm, center or unicom. I tried a nearby airport but the clerance seemed to expect me to be on that airport (seen the expected runway), unicom is not listed for EHTE and I tried all Dutchmil and Amsterdam frequencies but they seem not be recognized by p2atc. How do I get the center frequency to request clearance to? Best Marcel
  5. Hi, I'm trying the demo, up to now the product looks great but I have a few problems. I must say a lot of them seem to have gone with the 2.2.1.0 update but the biggest problem is that most of the times at the start of a flight I don't get any reaction. So I keep trying to request clearance, request engine start etc. And then suddenly after about 10 minutes I start to get reactions to all requests (so it keeps looping for a few minutes). Is this a known issue? Is there a way to prevent this? Best, Marcel
  6. Hi, Sorry for the late response but I was on a trip. First thanks for your answer! I'm still puzzled a little on the startup checklist. I searched the forum and the web but was unable to find the answer. In the PMDG AOM the items for the battery power only part of the checklist are: - Condition Feather Shut off/test - Gear Horn - Fire Detection Fault - Standby battery power test - FMS NDB (expiration) Why are these only tested for a battery power only start? They seem usefull also for a GPU start. The same is true for the Essential Bus Power Established part, all the items here are also usefull I guess for a battery only start, so would this part then be done after engine start in this case? Thanks! Marcel
  7. Hi, Just got the J41 and I am really enjoing it! Also I'm studying the manuals and I have some things that I don't understand: 1) In the checklist (Ch4 page 10 and 31 and 32) "battery power only" and "essential bus power established" are mentioned. I guess these parts are for battery starts? I searched the forum a little and read about battery starts and they are essentialy battery on and imediately after that start engine isn't it? So how dso interpret the "battery power only" and "essential bus power established" parts? When are they skipped and when should they be done then? 2) When searching for the battery only start I also found a post about start using GPU, then taxi to ice removal station, shut down here and then do a battery start when finished. To what extend is the aircraft shutdown in this istuation? I guess you do not turn of the battery as the PAX need lights don't they? 3) Abnormal procedures (Ch 5 page 15) ENGINE FAILURE OR IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN is mentioned twice, 1) AUTO PILOT/YAW DAMPER ........................................................................................ DISENGAGE - PF (L/R) POWER LEVER {CONFIRM} ................................................................................ FLIGHT IDLE (L/R) CONDITION LEVER {CONFIRM} ................................................................. FEATHER SHUTOFF FUEL AND HYD LP VALVES .............................................................................................. CHECK SHUT 2) PROP SYNC ................................................................................................................................. OFF CONDITION LEVERS ............................................................................................................... FLIGHT AFFECTED ENGINE POWER LEVER {CONFIRM} .................................................................... RETARD AFFECTED ENGINE TTL SWITCH {CONFIRM} ......................................................................... OFF When is which checklist followed? They seem to contradict in Condition lever handling. Thanks! Marcel
  8. Hi, In fact I'm currently flying all the tutorals, today I'm goping to fly the latest one LFML-LSGG, these were the things I was still unclear with. Thanks for your thorough explanation, the only thing I'm then still a bit confused about is the landing clearance after cleared for an approach (no radar assumed): so basically after this you would report yourself tower and get a clearance to land from them? I understand this is not modeled which is no problem to me, having a lot of fun already! Thanks again for explaining things. Best, Marcel
  9. Hi, Tried to use the seach functionality of the forum but couldn't find the answers, so I'll try it this way: - If approaching an airfield with no approach controller and my last waypiont in the flightplan is the VOR on the airfield, then when I request an IAP full approach which is granted do I then direcly fly the approach (assuming the IAF is reached before the mentioned VOR) or are you suppost to first complete your flightplan and only then fly the approach (which wouldn't make much sense)? I guess what I'm asking is that "cleared for the full approach" means you no longer have to follow your initial flightplan... - Again airfield with no approach controller and also no tower: does "cleared for the full approach" also include "cleared to land"? I flew this lesson today and after the "cleared full approach" I was never given landing clearance. I thought I was not supposed to call "field in sight" as that would mean a transition from the IAP approach to a visual approach or am I wrong? - Just wondering how this would work in real life: suppose you cancel you IFR in the air and then have missed approach for some reason (obvious not weather ;-) I assume you are still VFR? If you want to go to another airfield you have to file a flightplan again contacting center assuming you don't want to this VFR? Thanks! Marcel
  10. Hi, Thanks for your extensive answer! It was not that I had any problems regarding following RC instructions I was only curious how it is done in real life. So if I understand your answer you indeed follow the heading told by ATC exactly and for runway heading and hold headings (the ones away from the holding point, so they are not given directly by ATC) you compensate for wind. But it for example ATC would tell me to fly heading x after takeoff, at which altitude should I turn? I assume I first climb to some safe manouvring altitude? Best, Marcel
  11. Hi, I'm doing all the RC4 lessons and have a couple of questions: 1) If ATC tells me to fly heading x do I fly that exact heading or do I need to compensate for (cross)wind (I guess when taking off and fly runway heading and when holding I do have to compensate for crosswind)? How is this for approaches when flying a procedure turn: do I fly the exact specified heading or so I compensate for wind? So basically when to fly the exact heading and when to compensate for wind? 2) When flying a SID that requires a turn directly after take-off when do you start turing? I assume that you first do the initial climb to a safe altitude. But at what altitude should you have started your turn? Thanks, Marcel
  12. Hi, I'm considering buying the MD-11 or the J41. Will either one of them (or both) work with windows 8 as my new computer was delivered with that (yes I know, I should have prefered W7;-) ? gr, Marcel
  13. Hi Jim, This gauge sounds like a great addon to my level-d 767, could you please provide me a copy? Kind Regards, Marcel
