  1. captain420's post in FSX launches and immediately quits w/o any error messages was marked as the answer
The last 2 things I did before everything worked was install an FTX airport and an Aerosoft Scenery. The aerosoft scenery asked me about something about wanting me to use the their tree's instead and if so it would make a backup of my autogen entry so I hit yet. Not sure if that had anything to do with why my FSX isn't launching anymore of if the problem lies with the FTX airport install. Sigh. Worst case scenario can I insert my FSX Acceleration DVD and perform a repair? I'd really hate to reinstall everything from scratch again.

Wow, surprisingly removing the d3d9.dll worked! I don't understand? I had sweetfx installed. but now it's not running, however I am able to launch FSX again!

Yup I confirmed it, it's the d3d9.dll file that's causing my FSX not to launch. I don't understand though, I always had this file in my FSX's root folder and never had problems. Now I can't use sweetfx. Very strange problem.
