No weather in FSX
Hi guys. I'm testing this product out before purchasing and was wondering why I can't get any wind or weather info. I have a altitude and destination filled out. I always get a degree and 0kt wind. I must be doing something wrong. I don't think every location I go to should display same info. Anyways, if anybody could help me out so I can use it a little before purchasing, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Uninstalling FTX Global
Using FTX Global with P3D and will most likely uninstall it when a new patch comes for P3D since I don't want to use the patch upgrade, rather a new installer for P3D. If I choose to uninstall FTX Global, could someone explain me the steps needed for a complete uninstall? I have the uninstaller and made a backup folder, but I'm confused how to do it. I read the instructions that came with the uninstaller, but am confused. I just want to make sure the program is uninstalled correctly so I can do a reinstall with nothing left over. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advanced.

P3D Web Not Working?
Has anybody else experienced not being able to access the P3D website? I've tried now for a day and still can't access it. Just says it can't be displayed. Tried Ie11 and Chrome, no difference. I need to re-download 2.4 and can't get into my account. If anybody has any info or can confirm that it's happening on their end, please let me know. Thanks.

FTX Global Scenery Popping
Hey Angelo, don't know if your using a ssd but that can help with loading times as well as faster ram. Of course a fast cpu(fsx and p3d loves overclocking) and good gpu is a must. If your using fsx, make sure that HIGHMEMFIX=1 under graphics is in the fsx.cfg(probably knew this already but just thought I'dlist it in case). Without knowing more about your system, I'm afraid this is all I can come up with. I know some people might disagree with what I'm going to say but if you haven't already, take a look at Nick N FSX BIBLE. Took along time to go through, but well worth the time and effort. It has saved me the frustration of getting FSX configured right. Just my .02cents worth. Hope this helps. -Cheers Hey domkle, thanks for the input into P3D. Your tempting me into getting the program. Just like yourself, I have been simming since 1985 when there was sublogic and I believe the 1st Microsoft flight sim. So I'll take your word of advice that P3D is a better program based on your experience. As far as Orbx forums, I contacted someone with a physical email address and he has been helping me. I still can't get into them. In fact, the last time I tried to log on, I wasn't even identified which makes me believe there is something wrong on their end. I'm sure it will be worked out. Again, thanks for your help and words of advice. P.S. -I'll take the pipe out when I enter Orbx forums.

FTX Global Scenery Popping
Hey domkle, what I'm about popping is the autogen. As far as looking at my computer, I'm not sure what to look for. I've set everything up for FSX according to Nick N suggestions, so I don't think it's my computer itself. When you say you have 1.30, is that for FSX or P3D? Because if it's for FSX, then there's gotta be something wrong with either my setup or program itself.

FTX Global Scenery Popping
Well that's unfortunate news. I knew FSX had a problem but read a thread from John Venema that the popping was suppose to be gone. Google FTX Global 60 sec video vanilla FSX default vs FTX Global. The video does show no popping. Just to be fair, I did make a vanilla install of FSX. This was one of the reasons I decided to purchase FTX Global. As far as their forums, I registered 3 days ago and still am being validated. How long does this take? I've never come across a company that has taken this long to register. I've been hesitant switching over to P3D. I've heard of things not being compatible and crashing and some say the advantages over FSX are few. Aside from fixing the problem with FTX Global, how hard is it to switch and will I notice anything different besides the shadows (which do look cool)? I know P3D is a little off topic in this forum, but I'd thought I'd just ask since it was brought up. Thanks for your help and hopefully I can get into the ORBX forums soon.

FTX Global Scenery Popping
I applied the Orbx libs update but that didn't help with the popping. Thanks for the suggestion. I feel like I may have wasted $89.99 on a product which I can't enjoy viewing the scenery. The popping is so bad that all I want to do is look at my instruments and not the scenery. I really don't want to revert back to MGE as I enjoy the scenery, just not the popping. Anybody else have any suggestions?

FTX Global Scenery Popping
I just purchased FSX Global and have noticed that everywhere I fly, the scenery keeps popping up. I believe since I just bought FTX Global, that it would have the latest service pack 1.30. I don't think it's my computer. My computer is a i5 4570k oc to 4.2ghz and a 770gtx. I'm only using the A2A 172R for the flying. I also have FSX and FTX Global on a dedicated hdd that's been defragged. ORBX is new to me and thought I'd purchase global since I don't want to be restricted having to buy separate photo scenery areas. I have watched many youtube videos and haven't noticed any popping up scenery. If anybody knows anything about this and how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Cheers

Memory Timings
I have total 8 gig ram, each says 11-11-11-28 (on stick) @ 1600mhz 1.5v. I know I can reduce the timings to 9-9-9-24. If I choose to do this, would I need to increase the voltage? If so, by how much? Thanks.

Sound Issue and HDD/SSD Question
kramerdc9 replied to kramerdc9's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThanks for the feedback!!! As far as FSX and scenery, right now I think I'll do what Firehawk44 suggested. I can't afford a SSD large enough for the megascenery I plan on installing. Maybe down the road. I think I've narrowed the sound issue down. I own a Bose Companion 5 and everything but FSX works fine. No popping in music or movies, only FSX. The Companion 5 has it's own soundcard built into the subwoofer, so an updated driver is not the issue. In the manual, it says that if you here popping or other strange noise, make sure it's not connected to a USB hub. I don't have a hub. It's connected directly into my computer. Since it's connected correctly, I don't know what else could be creating the problem. I tried my onboard Realtek soundcard and it works just fine. Being that the speakers work fine with music and movies, I got to think the has something to do with the interaction between the speakers and FSX. I tried every USB port on my motherboard and front of the computer and all did the same. Any thoughts of what might be causing this? Thanks.

Sound Issue and HDD/SSD Question
Hey guys, I purchased a new computer last month and all seems well. I just have a couple questions. I have a 128GB SSD and 1TB 7200 HDD. Right now I have FSX as the only thing installed on my HDD. SSD running windows. However, I just purchased megasceneryearth and I know it should be on it's own HDD. I can't afford to buy another HDD so what would be the solution for me here? Install FSX and photo scenery on HDD, or FSX on SSD and photo scenery on HDD? Also, when I start up FSX after about a minute I get what sounds like a pop in my speakers and then it goes away. I have BOSE speakers and have tried the onboard Realtek. Both the same. I have 4 Saitek units connected to my USB ports. I have also followed Nick N's Bible to the T. Everything seems fine except for that. I tried lower settings in Nvidia inspector and still got the noise. My specs are: i5 4670k- 4.2GHZ GTX 770 8 GB 1600mhz ram 600 watt PSU H60 cooler ASUS Z87-C My thinking is it might be PSU related since the noise sounds like an electrical input coming into my speakers. Just a guess. Anyways, any help on these two subjects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

New Rig for hardcore simming. Please Advise
kramerdc9 replied to victorlima01's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi there, I too am a private pilot and love flightsimming. I'm no expert on this subject, but have done extensive research in the matter. I think you can find more than enough information from these two links. http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html http://www.simforums.com/forums/haswell-48ghz-on-air-building-a-haswell-system_topic46180.html I know it's long, but well worth it IMHO. I won't give you my advice, as it will be merely repeating what Nick N. has laid out. Hope this helps, and good luck. Happy flying!!
