  1. Im talking about that small round circle in the top right corner of the hud. My airline doesn't have this option and I can't figure out how to turn it off? I use the ngx primarily as a training tool and would like it to be as close as possible to what our jets look like. Also does anybody know how to program a realistic wind shear event? On our check rides that, to me, is the hardest maneuver to deal with.
  2. I believe (if my 737 history is correct) the 73 was a short version of the 707 made to opperate autonomously on domestic short haul flights. Never intended for long hauls or transCons. They actually put a seat in the cockpit for an f/e, which is why there are two jumpseats up there but that second seat is itself a very effective torture device. A bit dated is an understatement, at my airline we tend to try and avoid them like the plague. The ng's are major jump in technology. Now the thing with the 200's were that they were very reliable, simple to opperate and comfortable to the passangers but over the years maintaince went up and fuel cost kept climbing so the airlines needed better engins and a bigger cabin to carry paying customers.
  3. Dang, now I want a cassette player. Btw, SWA never had hgs in the -200, or an fms for that mater. The autopilot was very crude, as I recall it didn't have an alt capture. You just used cws to push it over than engaged alt hold.
  4. Btw, what you are looking at is the Rockwell Collins HGS 2300. That is the model we use on the 300/500. The 700 uses the 2350 (same as the 2300) or the 4000 series just like the 800, which is a newer version with a better display and includes rollout info. Pmdg has done a awesome job of replicating it, remember to set all the parameters on the hgs panel.
  5. With a few exceptions, at SWA, all our aircraft are HUD equipped (300, 500, 700 and 800's). We do hand flown hgs approaches to cat III mins with the HUD. No auto land for us.
  6. I do just as David does except I turn on the outboards when cleared to land sort of as a way to remember.
