  1. Didn't get a chance to partake of this weekend's offerings, but here's my take... For some reason, my initial Bruce Artwick experience on a 31/2 floppy in 1986 wasn't Meigs. It was Oakland Intl. Airport runway 27 Right. Plus, it's amazing how your mind can fill in the blanks on the vector graphics. I even went so far as to plot the airports on the coordinate system that was in use at the time on graph paper. FYI, KSEA was 21343, 6584. How's that for old-timey? Or actually, how much does someone love flight for that to be a "gateway" mechanism? I STILL can't believe how we've come so far. We can now truly see the world from our desktops. Now it's just a matter of getting the details filled in. I just have to say that it's been one helluva fun ride! I stand transfixed...
  2. Had problems like this in the past. I forget which update where the problem started manifesting itself and which update it went away at, but my workaround was to disable everything in the community folder, run the updates, and then re-enable the community folder. It was clunky, but it worked. Just a thougt... Your mileage WILL vary!
  3. I feel what you're going through Gunter. We had the same thing happen to us about three months back while we were away. Hope all goes well, and hope everything is going well on your trip!
  4. In my own backyard but on a Wednesday! I'll fly the trip, but it won't be the same without the rest of you!
  5. Well, things work fine with nothing in the Community folder. Time to go on a hunting expedition for the culprit file! Thanks again for the suggestions. Fair skies and following winds, Frank "Ponch"
  6. Thanks for the input. I'll try the suggestions and see what happens.
  7. And now, in addition to the above mentioned miseries, when I try to quit from a flight and get back to the main menu, it hangs up there, too! As Yosemite Sam would say, "Ratsafrats!"
  8. Hello all, Within the past two weeks, whenever I go to the Content Manager it just sits there and gives me the "whirling halo of indecision chasing its own tail." Also, when I try to quit and go back to desktop in the usual manner, MSFS will "hang" and I have to quit out via Task Manager. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Frank
  9. You know what Bert - it does look a little bit Heinkel 162-ish. Hoping it flies a little better.
  10. Thanks! It just happened to be dumb luck. Right place, right time, I guess!
  11. A couple of quickies on an impromptu flight from Algiers to Marrakesh in the DC Designs F-14A. I didn't realize that I was lining up with the sun and the moon until I got to altitude. Funny how things work out, inn'it?
  12. Air California Hughes Airwest (Who remebers THEM?) I remember the jingle, however. "Hughes Airwest! Top banana in the west!" PSA Delta United
  13. The Turbo Arrow is a good choice in my opinion. It is a superb touring aircraft for me as I fly throughout the American West. It has a good combination of customization, immersion and "flyability," and can get to altitude fairly quickly. You can go a long way fairly quickly on not too awfully much 100LL. Personally I will fly either the Turbo Arrow III or IV, but given a choice I prefer the Arrow III because I feel the t-tail of the IV imparts a more sensitive feel to the elevator response. But then again, that is only one opinion. I have all of JF's iterations of the PA-28 airframe and enjoy each of them immensely, but if you have the choice to get only one, I recommend the PA-28R Arrow III/IV Turbo.
  14. It is so sad to find out that Roman is gone. I wish his family and friends nothing but comfort and good memories during this difficult time. I still remember the 2017 RTW race. He flew wingman with me when Team Flightsim had so much difficulty that year and we were moving the (by then unofficial) Baton back to the start. So much respect and such a fond memory. It goes without saying that we already miss him terribly. and for you, Roman, No more pain, only good things And as I always say, Fair skies and following winds Ponch
  15. Thanks large. Instead of transforming my head into even more of a chrome-dome (pulling my hair(s) out) I am now sinking down into my chair and transforming into a puddle of relaxation. Thanks for the advice.
  16. Forehead. Desk. Repeat. What am I doing wrong with the update? And I am invoking the Name for the Christmas season and the Easter season.
  17. I keep running around in circles on the update. The MS Store provides me with circular options. Please remember that I am somewhat of a luddite. I'll be on early before the flight.
  18. Looks like fun! One thing, though, Lampson is in Lake County, not Mendo. (Fifth generation Californian speaking ) Anyway, can't wait to fly with everybody this weekend! Great flight plan, my "neck of the woods," woo-hoo!
  19. The VA actually has two different ACARS utilities that you can use. I use the vUAL ACARS utility. To fly a flight on the actual United schedule, I input the appropriate info (gleaned from FlightAware and other sites) and check the charter box before starting the flight, and when parked at the arrival gate, I make sure the proper VATSIM info is entered in the comment box, hit the stop flight button and then the file pirep button right after that, and the flight is automatically approved.
  20. I fly with virtualunitedairlines.org. You can fly online or offline, current or vintage aircraft, and any Star Alliance member airline. You only need to fly one flight during a calendar month to stay current on the roster and can transfer up to a certain number (I forget how many at the moment) of VATSIM hours. Just another suggestion to investigate.
  21. Got plenty of practice on cross-control technique in the Seneca. Definitely helped to sharpen the skillz. Thanks for the itenerary!
  22. Hats off to you all. After a Race like that, it's time for a few cold, tall ones. The first round's on me! Cheers/Salud/Prosit/Skol!
  23. On behalf of the members of Team Murphy Part II, congratulations on a well executed race! Our race, on the other hand, was just plain executed. I just don't know whether it was on the chopping block, at the stake, or in the chair! We're working on it though, and we hope to be running neck-and-neck with you all again in the future! 'Till then... Fair skies and following winds, Frank "ponchovilla" Team FlightSim (But at this point, it's probably Team FriedSim!)
  24. It may have taken a while, but we got it DONE! Thank you all for the congratulations and support. Fair skies and following winds, Frank "Ponch"
