  1. Under CFG, it states use up and down arrows to cycle through available options. Seeing the message HS device not shown or something similar tends for me to suggest that sound set up not correct. It would be good if manual could specifically state choose arrows to pick your device. Just my two penneth...
  2. Problem solved. I hadn't realised that one has to use the up/down arrows to reveal the audio device to select it - not meant to be critical but is that in the manual?
  3. I am trying to configure Flight Officer speech to play over my Logitech USB headphones rather than main speakers. The manual asks that I select my audio device on the FS2Crew Config Panel, but I can see no way of doing that on the Config Panel, which just contains Online OPS manual, Speech Recognition Engine Init Log, and Cockpit Voice Recorder log. When I click the CFG button on the main panel and cycle round, I get HS:No Such Device. The voice button is ON.
  4. Apologies if I am missing something obvious, but I am trying to get to grips with the G1000. I have watched video tutorials and searched this forum but can't get the answer. I am unable to get the moving map with topo features to display; I have a permanent blue screen with airport, VOR etc features. Clicking on topo and terrain makes no difference, and cycling the different map pages doesn't help The map shows on the waypoint page but overlapped by engine information and a data input box on the right. There's probably a simple answer but this relative novice can't figure it!
  5. I have Great Britain pretty well covered with VFR Generation X scenery, and parts of the rest of the world catered for with OrbX, including New Zealand and Pacific north West. I am thinking of installing FTX Global, and OpenLC Europe. Two questions: 1) What is the general opinion on FTX Global and OpenLC? 2) What will be the interaction of FTX Global and OpenLC with my VFR Generation X in Britain, since I presume I can't deactivate just the Britain section of FTX Global and OpenLC. I know it's subjective but I am assuming VFR Generation X will have the edge over the FTX Global and OpenLC, although I appreciate it is all very subjective.
  6. FSX map shows a square box with a central dot. Beside is written LOO, 109 mHz, Linton on Ouse. Tuning to this frequency produces no needle deflection in the OBS, and no ident on clicking on Nav1. By contrast, tuning to MCT, Manchester, a VOR close by, frequency 113.55, produces both OBS needle deflection and ident morse signal.
  7. Hi. Maybe I am confusing my terminology, but that was how it was described on a web page I found after a search. It was LOO (Linton on Ouse) in the UK on 109 mHz. I'd be glad to hear of your conclusions John
  8. Thanks for the replies. The last comment about what sort of navaid is it, got me thinking. In fact when I checked, I was trying to tune into a Tacan and not a VOR. As soon as I switched to a true VOR, everything works fine. Thanks again
  9. I am trying to get to grips with VOR navigation in the FSX Cessna 172. However when I tune into a known VOR frequency that is within the VOR's range, there is no OBS needle activity, and I cannot get an ident. Am I missing something really fundamental? Incidentally I do have the Nav/GPS button in the NAV position.
  10. Sorry, firehawk44 but just looked up your system spec and I see it already exceeds that quoted for my new one, so that I guess that answers the question. I am having real problems with a very unstable FSX since installing PMDG Boeing 777, crashing on start up three out of 5 times. After I installed the 777, I got messages from Windows that the RAAS Pro add on would cause problems and did I still want to load it. I disabled loading it in the dll.xml file, but the 777 still causes crashing. Also the switch labels in the VC are blurred to the point of unreadable, a problem others have had on the forums. I am using FSX together with lots of other programs on my only PC. I am wondering if it might be worth buying a new PC, doing a fresh install of FSX, and dedicating this PC to FSX only.
  11. Thanks for the reply firehawk44. As well as the problems above, I have slow loading times for FSX, again probably to put up with. I have had a quote of £800 for a new PC with 4.3 GHz Intel Core i5 4670K processor, a Geforce GTX 760 2GB card and a 1000Gb hard drive.. The salesman says I would see a considerable difference, but he would wouldn't he! He says the Geforce is much more suited to FSX than the AMD card. I run Rex Overdrive, and Plan G simultaneously with FSX, with some OrbX scenery too. Do you think the outlay for the new PC would impact significantly on my problems, or as you infer, the problems are software orientated rather than hardware? Thanks
  12. I have been running FSX with accelerator for a couple of years. I had been experiencing some frame rate issues especially on the virtual cockpits of some planes. 3 days ago I downloaded the PMDG Boeing 777-200LR which I appreciate is quite demanding on processing power. However I am finding that switching to the virtual cockpit from an external view can take 10 seconds to refresh. I have tried pulling levels down on sliders, switching to 2D cockpit, zeroing traffic, reducing autogen density etc etc which does help a little, but the lag on refresh is spoiling the enjoyment of the plane I have a Dell Studio XPS with AMD Phenom II x6 1055T processor - speed 2.8 Ghz, 8 Gig of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD500 card. Windows 7 64 bit Is this adequate for my purposes? If not, should it be CPU or graphics card or both that need upgrading and would this be possible, rather than having to invest in a new PC?
  13. Right on the button there, KriVa. I had discovered that F9 shows the correct CDU. Many thanks. Back to the tutorial then....
  14. I am new to PMDG Boeing 777-200LR and am working my way through the 1st tutorial. I have worked through fuel and payload entry and am trying to access the FMC. I have tapped on Menu to get to the root directory but can only see Sat and Cab Int on the left lines. The tutorial says FMC should show up on LL1, but I cannot find it! Any help available? Thanks
