  1. Kermit_70's post in Shimmering in VC: do you advice SGSS for AntiAliasing Transparency SuperSampling ? was marked as the answer
    Dear all, I am reporting back after few days of experimenting and tweaking, taking advices from you.
    I am now settled on settings I am happy with. Given my hardware (listed in my first post in this thread), I finally settled for:

    FSX.cfg (only relevant entries)
    Affinity Mask = 84 (core 1,2,3 in use, not 0 and not HT cores)
    Texture_max_load=2048
    Texture_bandwidth_mult=80
    Fiber_frame_time_fraction=0.2
    no Bufferpools entry (leave to default)

    Nvidia Inspector (only relevant entries)
    Antialiasing - settings (FSAA): 4xMS
    Antialiasing - transparency (TSAA): 2xSGSS
    Nvidia predefined FXAA usage: allowed
    Toggle FXAA: on
    Anisotropic filtering mode: application controlled
    Anisotropic filtering setting: off (linear)
    Frame Rate limiter: 30 (unlimited in FSX/settings)
    Maximum pre-rendered frames: 3
    Vertical sync Tear control: standard
    Vertical sync: 1/2 refresh rate

    As a result, running REX4, ASN, ORBX FTX Full Regions, UT2, I get no visible shimmering, no noticeable stuttering, and FPS fluctuating between 20 and 30.
    Overall, I am really pleased with this.

    Many thanks to all for the great help!
    Please let me know if you have questions on my settings. I would be happy to help others.

    Cheers
  2. Kermit_70's post in FSX on second HD or partition? was marked as the answer
    I ended up doing it on separate SSD.
    All good so far.

    Looking back, I could have probably done with FSUIPC.
    At the end of the day, I purchased Saitek switch panel and I am now very happy with it.

    Cheers.
  5. Kermit_70's post in Adding tail number plaque in VC was marked as the answer
    Thank you, that works!
    Also, I had another possible solution here:

    Thanks to all!
  6. Kermit_70's post in Powered USB hub on Saitek Yoke was marked as the answer
    OK, so here is my final config:

    Quadrant (PS/2) into Yoke
    Yoke into PC (USB2.0)
    Pedals, Switch panel, trim wheel all in powered external hub
    External hub into PC (USB2.0)

    All is now working fine.
    Thanks you all!
  7. Kermit_70's post in N-Number In Virtual Cockpit? was marked as the answer
    That's it, this did it!
    Many thanks, Bert. I just added the numbers on top of the the black placard (in photoshop as standard BMP), and then saved it back as Extended BMP DXT5 in the texture folder specific for the aircraft.
    I actually made different placards for each of the repainted I have for the Bonanza, so I could put the actual tail number.

    Solved! Thank you.
  8. Kermit_70's post in cockpit sounds for switches? was marked as the answer
    Solved. By mistake I had commented out the two key lines in panel.cfg
    How stupid!
