  1. After doing extensive research I was about to build 7700k, but realized the 8th generation will be in the market in 2 months, so I postponed my plans. I know if you are going to wait for the new thing in CPU/GPU you will not be going to buy anything for ever, LOL From the endless number of articles and clips I have seen, the conclusion is: If you are going to sim, go for Intel If you are going to sim, edit, and stream, then go for AMD
  2. I have a similar experience, I did the following: 1- Removed the DVD drive and installed it in USB External Case Enclosure from eBay 2- Removed the HDD and installed in DVD bay using a Hard Drive Caddy Adapter from eBay 3- Bought an SDD and installed it as my windows drive, so I have 2 drives now. the SSD for Windows, MS Office. The HDD for the files. 4- Upgraded the RAM to 8GB The result was unbelievable, the laptop is so much faster and can handle many browser tabs and excel files opened at once, I think mainly due to RAM upgrade, also due to the SSD the windows and MS Offices loads in seconds. Total cost was around $110, totally worth it.
  3. Interesting! Based on this article https://www.howtogeek.com/317294/what-is-intel-optane-memory/ you will get noticeable improvement only if you are using mechanical hard drive, the improvement when used with an SSD is very small, also it will only work with the primary partition, therefore if you have an SSD and HDD, it will work only with the SSD (assuming it's the primary one). I think it's a good solution when you have an existing system with huge HDD and without an SSD, as the optane memory costs around $50 on Amazon, where with an SSD, it will cost around $120 for 250GB, and you will have to format your system and install everything from scratch.
  4. The specs look identical, the only difference is that chillblast uses 2133mhz while the gravity is 2400mhz. Not sure if this will make any difference. Maybe you could see the other aspects, price, appearance, service, support, etc... Good luck
  5. This is something I'm really looking for. Good luck with your system, I might go this route as well.
  6. That's ok to me but would that change anything in PC specs? I mean it still will be 7700k+1060?
  7. Hello all, I've been away from FSX for almost two years, I'm planning to buy/assemble a new system, for that system I'm going to use Samsung CF791 monitor, it's 3440x1440 My questions are: 1- CPU: planning to buy i7-7700, I know FSX is a CPU dependent, and therefore higher speed is better than more multi-core, is it going to outperform the 7800x and AMD 1800? what I like about the new AMD is they are much lower in heat generation. 2- GPU: Since the FSX is CPU dependent, do I need to go higher than 1060? Thnaks
