  1. Thank you, Alex. Keep up the great work. LNM is the best map program there is for flight simmers! It is great for showing learners on the flight sim programs where they are on the map. Let alone all the great aviation-related functions you have built into it. Keep the updates coming. Thanks again. Mike
  2. Hello Alex. Thank you for a fantastic program. I cannot fly without it. I received the same error message a couple days ago but now it is not showing up when doing the test connection for the winds in LNM. It happened after I had purchased and installed Rex Weather Force for MSFS 2020. In the Weather Force program, there is a note about what wind source they use. It doesn't seem to be the NOAA source, but i dont recall it offhand. I disabled the slider to send info from Weather Force to other programs, and will see if this cures the popup. Perhaps it had something to do with the winds "interchange" between Weather Force and LNM? Maybe incompatible file? I will continue to monitor and let you know if the message recurs. If you figure out what is going on, please let me know. Anyway, great job on super useful program. You make the Flight Sim community better with it! Mike H.
  3. Quite the process. I eventually figured out that somewhere along the latest update process or the installation of the newest Nvidia driver that the Data tab under General had the offline box checked. That resulted in my system not being able to access the online server, and resulted in the never ending circle loop. So I manually reset to online access, made sure the cache size was appropriate, and sure enough, the Marketplace tab at the top was no longer greyed out. I now have the program back where it was before the above. Problem solved. Thank you to all who provided suggestions on how to help. By the way, the solutions offered more formally I did try but without success. Hopefully the update tomorrow will go smoothly. This is a good program with some hiccups that with time will be solved!
  4. I can fly locally but with no server access for multiplayer, etc. I am not sure about local scenery refreshes. The automatic access to the server is looping endlessly. I will wait until the Tuesday update to see if this is resolved. I am a longtime FSX, P3D, Xplane user and this is the first real problem I have had with MSFS2020. Every one of the programs has had teething problems and I suppose this is inevitable. I wonder how much testing goes on between updates, if it seems we are getting weekly patches now? Perhaps it might be better to slow things down and test among specific advanced users before? Of course, this might not be an MSFS2020 problem? Patience is in order.
  5. Thanks for the tip, but I have nothing whatsoever in my Community folder. Stock install only. The issue appears to be the Automatic Server access that is looping endlessly. I have signed out and back in with Xbox, rebooted, signed back in, and still the same, No Marketplace access as the server cannot be accessed. Anyone else with this issue lately?
  6. Have just installed the latest MSFS2020 update and also the latest Nvidia video driver, as of December 15 versions. And a recent Xbox update from the Microsoft store too. Now the Marketplace tab in MSFS is greyed out, so I cannot access it. Has anyone had similar difficulties, and/or suggest a fix? It seems also that I am not able to Automatically connect to the server, just getting a revolving circle that endlessly rotates. Are the Microsoft servers working alright for everyone? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  7. No. It appears to be exactly the same version as 3 years ago. I hope GoFlight will update it so older hardware will be usable in MSFS2020. Hopefully also there will be instructions on installation and use. It has only been a week or two since FS2020 arrived, so patience is good. I have found the GoFlight products to be really useful and intuitive to use, especially for small GA aircraft, where they simulate the real world units well.
  8. Would you be able to direct us to where the workaround is? I couldn't find it on the MSFS forum. Thank you.
  9. Probably answered my own question as in a glass cockpit aircraft there may even not be a need for a suction pump, as whatever "gyros" would be electrical? But it is a bit confusing as there is a checklist item to check the suction gauge. Anyone care to weigh in?
  10. Would anyone know where on the panel the suction gauge is? It is referred to in the checklist but my old eyes cannot spy it. Could someone help? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have learned the hard way not to try Beta versions. Do you know if there is somewhere that explains exactly what is stored in the Preferences folder? That is, what are the files, and what do they do in the program? My problem is although i had a copy of the Prefences folder, I couldn't figure out what was crashing the crash on loading, so I couldn't determine which of the files were Ok and which were not, so i had to start again as if I had a blank install of X-Plane. Presumably the program internally has all the data stored on our choices of joystick, buttons, keys, etc. that we have chosen to assign, so I was asking if there was an easy way to draw out these into some sort of a report or picture, so we had a digital hard copy if we needed to go back and reassign as above? Other than the old way of writing down on paper what we had assigned. I can go into each file using Notepad and by scrolling down for some time, can see what I assigned. But this is tedious and in this digital age seems wasteful. Any thoughts? Thanks again for your help.
  12. Hello all. I just had the task of re-entering all my X-Plane 11 keys and joystick bindings, following a crash with the beta. While doing this, I wondered if there was an easy way to print out what keys and joystick axes/buttons had been assigned to what? Seems to me this would be a good feature to have, if one could print these to an easily read file, so that one could re-enter things as before. This may be in the manual, but wonder if anyone had similar experience and could weigh in? Thanks.
  13. Thank you. Any GA floatplanes for X-Plane 11.2 that would work with the GTN 750?
  14. Hello. Would anyone in the know be able to help? I am pressing the NAV/GPS button on the cockpit beside the Garmins to get the autopilot coupled to the GPS but it will not shift out of NAV mode. I have the Flightplan loaded and have pressed the CDI button. Any thoughts what I am doing wrong? X-plane 11.2 and default Cessna 172 floatplane. Thanks.
  15. Thank you. Pity there are so few given how easy the GTN750 is to use with a touchscreen monitor. Beats having to play around with mice and rotating knobs and cursors to try to program in a flight plan. Developers should offer this as a standard feature, in my view.
  16. Am a relatively new user to X-Plane 11.2 and was wondering which aircraft out of the box will work with the touchscreen RXP GTN750? I have the default C172 working well and am considering purchase of other add-on aircraft that use the great GTN750. Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks.
  17. jmig, thanks for your info. Very clever with 2 touchscreens! Wish I had thought of that. I am still on P3D 3.4 for the exact reason you answered....no current GTN750 for version 4! I use it all the time for navigating around. Chaseplane is a camera program by FSFX packages. You can google it or see it in the respective Avsim forum. Apparently way better than exdok. It is still in development. I dont know how it works on miltimonitor systems so thatis why i asked. Thanks again for your info and advice. Mike
  18. Jmig, nice setup you have. What flight sim program and version are you using? How do you find the USB ELO touchscreen? Is there any lag when pressing the buttons? On your widescreen monitors, have you used Chaseplane, and if so, how is it? Thanks for your input, Mike H.
  19. You are welcome, Theo. Hope it made some sense! Your choice of a GTX1080 is a good compromise. With the advent of 64 bit P3D still in its infancy, it is really difficult to predict what hardware will be necessary in a couple years to support the addons that many envision for flight simming. What is certain is that the current batch of motherboards, RAM, CPU's, and specifically GPU's are not going to allow ideal simulation. All of these are going to be running hot and so cooling of the multiple components is probably the number one factor to consider. That, and one's ability to afford new hardware every 3 years!!! Nonetheless, it is a fun time to be in flight simming with all the changes happening of late. Good luck on your install, let us know how you find the transition, and please report any caveats for others doing the same. Regards, Mike H.
  20. Warriorpilot, could you let us know how you make out with your new GTX1080Ti compared to your GTX970? Any advice on setup, performance, cooling, etc. would be valuable! Congratulations on stepping up to the best you can get today. Thanks in advance. Mike
  21. I am not familiar with a GTX970 that has more than 4 gigabytes of VRAM. Here is a link to the 970 specs: www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/specifications Mike
  22. I am not an expert in video processsing (or math) but will offer this simplistic explanation. (Those in the know please correct my explanation). A basic way to look at video performance is to calculate how many pixels need to be displayed on the monitor(s) you are running multiplied by the refresh rate per second. Assuming a similar standard refresh rate (60 cycles per second = 60HZ) and that all pixels are reprocessed each cycle, then depending on the resolution you wish to display, there are differing number of pixels to process. Each RGB pixel that displays a non-black or white colour is 3 bytes (1R, 1G, 1B) of information. So: HD is 1920 X 1080 = 2.0736 million pixels X 60 times/second = 124 million pixels per second X 3 bytes per pixel = 373 million bytes or 0.373 Gigabytes per second 3 HD monitors in surround is 3 X 2.0736 = 6.220800 million pixels X 60 times/second = 373 million pixels per second x 3 bytes per pixel = 1119 million Gigabytes per second or 1.119 Gigabytes per second. 4K is 3840 X 2160 = 8.2944 million pixels X 60 times/second = 498 million pixels per second X 3 bytes per pixel = 1494 million bytes or 1.494 Gigabytes per second. Now let's look at the video cards. No wonder they run hot! A GTX970 Video card has 4G of VRAM (actually 3.5G!), a 1070 or 1080 has 8G, and a 1080Ti has 11G. It is logical that the more VRAM available on the card, the more the video processing power. Of course, there are many more factors to consider in video processing than VRAM, like heat, power, cooling, size, sensors, etc. Let's put these aside for this explanation. Hence, a 4G GTX970 may be fine in 1080p where 0.37 Gigabytes are processed each second, but won't work particularly well with 4K or 3 HD monitors, where 4 to 5 times more pixels need to be processed each second. Trying to run your simulator with a GTX970 in 4K or even 3 monitors in HD may be doable, but is a compromise at best. You should expect slower simulator fidelity and slower framerates. With complicated addons like PMDG, things are even more dismal. That said, framerates are not necessarily a good indicator of performance in flight simulators, as they are with other "shooter" type games. Usually framerates around 30 or more are fine for flight simulators, in my experience. Get below 30 and stutters may be a problem. But the better the video processing of the card, the better chance to show what the simulation and its addons can do. The bottom line (pardon the pun!) is it all comes down to what you have to spend, and what efforts you want to make to get the new card installed and setup. Rarely is everything perfect out of the box. The most expensive cards now like the 1080Ti's will last you several years before they are "obsolete", and the 1070 or 1080 will be outpaced in about 2 years. If you want to "future-proof" your video system, get a 1080Ti, but be prepared to spend lots more for it than the 1070 or 1080. You will spend more, it will work nicely with your addons in a 3 monitor HD setup you propose, and will last a bit longer. But beware the extra cooling and power supply needs for the 1080Ti compared to your current 970, and make sure your CPU is not a bottle neck for the GPU. That's my 24 bits! Hope it helps, and if my explanation is a way off, please feel free to add in any corrections, so we all learn more. Thanks for your great questions! Mike H.
  23. The answer to your question depends on several factors (at least). What resolution will you be using, 1080p HD or 4k? What is your CPU? Are you using the stock program or lots of addons? What monitor(s) are you using? The 1080 card has 8G of VRAM compared to the 970 having 4G (actually less than 4G, but that is another story!) So you can certainly expect better video processing with the 1080 card, as long as your CPU is sufficient to support the enhanced video capability. There are plenty of users who have upgraded at considerable cost to a more modern video card who report effective frame performance not that much better than their older cards, and just as many who are thrilled at their new performance from the upgrade. Older and working well is sometimes better than new and having to work out the bugs! The common theme seems to be if you do upgrade, be prepared for some setup hiccups to get things where you want your performance to be. Hope this helps.
  24. Alright, thank you. That helps. What a great program you have developed. Congratulations!
  25. I am using the latest version of LNM. What a fantastic program! I open LNM in a window on a second monitor and follow my flight and flight plan leg on this monitor. The aircraft moves to simulate position but the map does not move when the flight reaches the side of the window. I have to drag the map across the window to reposition it. Is there a way to get the map to move in the window as the flight progresses so I do not have to drag the map? Any help would be appreciated for this great program. Thank you.
