    Retired licensed A/C engineer.
  1. Tom, I'm nowhere near your age but I have the same memory problems these days, don't know about you but the mere mention of doing a re-install of Windows sends me scurrying under the nearest table!!, The kind offer of "team viewer" assist is something I would really appreciate if I were having issues, I'm not too proud to admit I would NEVER attempt that alone. Thanks everyone for offering assistance to us seniors. Good luck Buddy
  2. Although I haven't got the DC6 yet..waiting for p3d version release, I can't understand why you would relate oil temp with oil quantity, it doesn't matter how much oil you have in the tank it's not really going to affect the temp, if you don't have any temp indication on #2 I think it would be a good idea to check the circuit breaker!, I believe that they are all functional?.
  3. It's just a little too...new in the flight deck, but apart from that it's perfect, can almost smell the old leather and exhaust gas lol. No electronics wow, at last, so looking forward to getting this, I spent so many years flying mainly at night so this is going to be a real treat.
  4. Absolutely agree you with you, I'm also hoping they will release the DC6 for FSX, I think 90% of us have spent a fortune on FSX, I cannot for the life of me understand why PMDG released the DC6 for XP?. I know the A/C isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I'm drooling to get my hands on it, of course I'm bias because I worked and flew on them for years!!.
  5. Exactly!!! lol.. that's why I decided to ask here, I have complained to Amazon that they shouldn't allow sharks to rip customers off..but oh well!!.
  6. Thanks guys, Yes steam is convenient for the average user, by which I mean, most of the population who have basically unlimited internet services, here on the North of the island we have no such luxuries, but as they say: "what you've never had you never miss"!, we manage quite nicely really, there's no cell coverage up here either, people still talk to each other "face to face" lol. When I'm out fishing on my boat in the summer, I have two (2) VHF radios just in case, how about that for technology?. Groovin, yes I hadn't thought about that, a copy of deluxe would do the job too.
  7. Hi All, Well after many years with FS9 I finally decided to take the plunge and update my system to accommodate FSX, now she's purring like a warm Ferrari and ready to go..But..I had awful problems finding a copy of FSX gold, eventually I ordered one from a friend Australia, 5 weeks later it arrived, yesterday in fact, BUT after an evening of frustrations I find that disc #1 is corrupt and can't be used!!. there's NO way I'm prepared to return it..at that rate it will be summer before I start an engine!!. So this is a plea to anyone here who could maybe help me out with either a spare copy of FSX gold or a source in North America where I could buy one, It occurred to me that maybe some of you guys had gone over to the ..alternative sims out there. of course I have a valid legal reg key, in fact at a push I only need disc one(1). I had considered FSX-SE but I live in the North of Newfoundland and our internet is somewhat...lacking lol. I'm happy to pay a fair price and of course full shipping costs. PM me please if you could help. Thanks Robin.
  8. For sure, if and when PMDG release this A/C we can be pretty sure that it will be a stunning addition to the hangar, having said that..I just wonder how many "modern" simmers will be prepared to take on a whole new way of flying?, and yes, I will be first in line to buy, but then again I, to term the phrase, "cut my teeth" on a PW radial spark plug! lol. So if you do intend taking on this beast, and beast it will be!, get yourself into..lets say the "Constellation" do a few engine starts, as my old boss used to say: "to start one of these B@#*ers your fingers need to move like a fiddlers elbow"...at least it shouldn't catch fire during start up in the sim...the same cannot be said for the real thing!!, if the sound of those engines on T/O doesn't make your hair stand on end...there's something wrong with you!. I'm going to sit, watch and wait patiently for any news! Robin
