Correct - for some reason this only happens during the night time.

Hi everyone,
I seem to be having some issues with grainy / noisy textures happening at Aerosoft (SimWings) Mega Airport Professional EGLL.
I seem to remember having a similar issue in the past with a different scenery and there was a fix for this, but I can't remember what the fix was.
I've attached an image of the issue in hopes someone might have an answer.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?
I'm using P3D V4.5, and the scenery is updated (to my knowledge) fully - feel free to ask me anything surrounding settings / config and I'll be happy to provide further information.
Regards,
Yorkie

Apologies for my late update everyone,
Unfortunately following a complete sim-re-installation and everything seeming ok, I then ran the Migration Tool as requested in FTX Central which has led to the same issue happening.
I did run the troubleshooter which has given me this, however none of this should be affecting Orbx Australia V2, or that region at all, since it is pointing to an issue with FTX OpenLC Europe and the Northern California areas.
Any ideas?

4 hours ago, Rasterfahnder said:Had the same issue as you. I did uninstall AUS v1. But there where still some folder structures left in the ORBX folder.
@MrYorkiesWorld have a look here: X:\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\ORBX\FTX_AU
I deleted every folder AU that has no v2 suffix and for good measure veryfied the library and AUv2 afterwards. No more black textures.
Hope it helps.
Hi Rasterfahnder,
Thanks for that, although the issue was there before I installed AU V2, however I did follow your advice and deleted all of the residual Orbx files after uninstalling them.
I have also removed all references to the Orbx areas from the scenery cfg etc... and I’m currently in the process of re-downloading and installing all of the Orbx products.
ill update this thread once I’ve done this as I know there have been other people suffering the same issue so hopefully I’ll be able to fix it!
Cheers!

Hi there everyone,
I currently have Orbx FTX Global, Vector, OpenLC Europe, and Australia V2 installed into the P3D V4.5 (With Hotfix)
I have only just noticed that in the Australia region itself (even before installing Australia V2) there are various black patches when I take a look at the top-down view.
I have recently tried deleting shaders, uninstalling and re-installing all Orbx Products, uninstalling Tomatoshade etc... but the issue still appears to be there.
I've also tried disabling Frozen Water in FTX Vector Control Panel, this did not change anything either.
I have also tried verifying the files of all Orbx Products inside of FTX Central - no change there either.
I have included a snapshot of the issue in hopes someone might have any ideas?
Thanks in advance, and please do let me know if you require further details!
Here is the screenshot of my issue, which on this occasion presents itself around YMML, however I also get the same issues around various other airports around Australia such as YSSY: https://imgur.com/a/UAwfftL
Kind Regards,

Please ensure that you follow checklists. They're extremely important. In this case, it seems as if your window heat has not been turned on.
If you're sure that you have done so, then something else is at play here - using any add-ons like PTA, or tomato-whatever?
4 minutes ago, vc10man said:Did you try turning the Window Heat on?
Hi both!,
Yes I definitely have the window heat switched on in the sim - I'm currently using TomatoShade with the R&D Preset, and I have a reflection profile for the 747-400 from R&D as well if that helps?
I'm willing to turn off RainMaker if needed, but if there are any other suggestions as to how to get it working correctly that would be great!

Hi there everyone,
I'm currently having an issue in the PMDG 747-400 (Not tested it with the 747-8) where the windshield will develop a "foggy" or "steamy" effect.
I've attached two screenshots below, one of which shows the colours of the simulator outside of the cockpit, and the other one showing the colour inside.
You can clearly see there is some sort of fog effect on the windshield which is causing visibility issues at times, and more importantly it is taking away some of the great colours from the internal views of the aircraft looking at the outside surroundings through the windows.
Having read through some other forum posts, as well as referring to Page 196 of the PMDG 747 QUOTS II Introduction document, I can see there is a new feature called RainMaker, however according to the Intro document, this is only implemented in the 747-8, and not the 747-400.
Are there any other methods that I could use to get rid of this effect, or is this just an effect designed to make the experience look and feel more immersive?

Hi everyone, it’s been quite a while since I last posted in the forums!
I’m having what you might call a “blank moment” in regards to Zero Fuel Weight coming from PFPX being input into the FMC in the FS ACTIONS > Fuel and Payload section.
Inputting my total fuel from PFPX is fine, however when it comes to inputting the ZFW on the payload section, I’m confused.
The figure I’m getting from PFPX is configurable to display either KGS or LBS. I currently have it set to KGS, however in the FMC, it appears to have a different format.
I wanted to know if the FMC or the PMDG aircraft calculate the ZFW in Tonnes or in x1000 lbs, because PFPX is giving me figures in KG.
So for example, if my ZFW given by PFPX is 191,722kg - what do I enter into the FMC in the ZFW section of the Payload screen, and / or how do I calculate that figure?
I have the PMDG options set to handle everything in KGS at the moment in the aircraft.
Again, probably a silly question but I seem to be having a “mind blank” at the moment and I was hoping someone could enlighten me off the top of their heads.
Cheers!

Hi there everyone,
I hope this post is in the right section, although I couldn't find another one which better fit the topic of my question!
I am running P3D 4.2 on an Intel Core i7 4790k CPU (Not Overclocked), 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 GPU (Not Overclocked). All of this is based from Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, with a dedicated SSD for my OS, a Separate SSD for P3D, and a Hybrid drive for my DATA etc...
I am considering an upgrade to get better performance from P3D, which runs quite well already, however I do want to get more performance at night with dynamic lighting and Anti-Aliasing etc...
Now common sense, along with my numerous years of experience building computers would tell me that the GPU is the best thing to upgrade first, however I am torn between upgrading that, and choosing to upgrade the CPU, since flight simulators tend to use more CPU than GPU as a rule due to everything being simulated the way it would be in real life etc...
My question is, which upgrade would likely make the most difference to P3D in terms of performance?
My settings are medium - high - nothing is set to Ultra, and I a running the Sim at 1080p.
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks in advance!

Certainly did! Doesn’t make a difference I’m afraid.

Indeed, I decided to try restoring the originals by reinstalling the client, and even went to the extent of fully uninstalling the entire simulator along with all user files and addons, but the problem appears to still be there. It really is quite the mystery!

Hi guys,
I've been having problems with P3D 4.2 for a week or so now.
I seem to be unable to see the taxi or landing lights illuminating the ground from inside of the PMDG 737-800 Virtual Cockpit unless I pan the camera at a certain angle. I can see the lights fine if I choose an exterior view in EZDOK, but the Virtual Cockpit seems to have this very strange issue.
I have recorded a short video showing the problem I am having in hopes that someone might be able to tell what the problem is?
I've literally just installed a completely fresh installation of P3D 4.2 and my addons which are listed below:
Active Sky for P3D4
EZDOK Camera
GSX Ground Services
Orbx FTX England
Orbx FTX Global
PMDG 737-800
Prepar3D (P3D) V4.2
PTA (P3D Tweaking Assistant) with Matt Davies Preset
REX 4 With Soft Clouds
Ultimate Realism Pack v1.1
Ultimate Traffic LiveI hope this is allowed, but if anyone can see from the video what the problem might be, I would be really grateful of any assistance. The video is below:
In the video, I have also gone into my sim settings in hopes someone might be able to spot something in there which could be causing the problem?
Thanks!

Hi everyone, hope you're well!
I'm using the latest version of PTA and P3D V4.2.
I've been using PTA for quite some time now and I decided to look around for some different presets to use. I came across one called the "thopat" preset, and installed it.
It appears now that since I've changed presets, the cloud shadow effects no longer work for some reason, and I have very foolishly lost my backup of the original shaders etc that came with the sim, and so if anyone can upload them from their own backup of the originals for V4.2 and give me a link or direct me to a place I can get the default ones from V4.2 and copy and paste them manually that would be great.
My main question is what on earth could the "thopat" preset have done to cause my cloud shadows to not work anymore?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Such an easy way to work out what's happening at a busy multiple runway airport such as AMS or ORD.
P.S. @YorkiesWorld. LGW is single runway ops, with usually 26L / 08R in use. 26R / 08L is often a taxiway, unless the 'main' runway is u/s for maintenance.
Thanks everyone for your answers, just a quick one... when it says "Runways in use" in Active Sky - I assume this means for both takeoff AND landing?
I've just taken a look over at flightradar 24 and I'm definitely impressed with how easy it is to see it on the map and work it out that way etc... but I just wondered also whether Runways in Use also referred to BOTH landing and takeoff runways etc...
Thanks very much everyone!

Hi everyone,
I have been using P3D 4.1 for quite some time now, and I feel quite confident in terms of my flying ability etc... however there is one thing I'd like to know about regarding Active Runways.
For example, Active Sky Next tells you in the "Conditions" tab for a specific airport what the "Runways in use" are there.
Basically, does this refer to LANDINGS or TAKEOFFS? or possibly both?
I've been under the assumption that it means both takeoff and landing. For example at EGKK (Gatwick), it says runways 26L and 26R are currently in use, so does this mean both can be used for either takeoff or landing depending on the wind?
I hope I've made sense!

Hi guys,
Thanks very much for the answers there!
I decided to delete my CFG file and start again, and reduced some of my sliders ever so slightly. This seems to have fixed the problem for now. It's just a wonder that it caused so much lag when I essentially had the same installed in V3 etc... I guess LM might release an update of some sort soon that targets performance a little more, and I've noticed quite a few people mentioning lag problems similar to mine with 4.1.
Thanks again guys, I can say the problem, for now at least, is solved!

Hi guys,
It's been a while since I was on this forum and I recently installed P3D V4.1 on a clean SSD with all updated addons etc...
I've been having a tiny issue which is a LOT worse when on the ground, but I expect this is due to the scenery I have installed etc... however one thing that is bugging me right now is the stuttering / laggy mouse effect whilst in the air as well as on the ground. Previously, this never happened once I was up in the air at cruise, however it has just started happening regardless of where I am.
I would post a video example of this but I'm not sure if this is allowed on here - please let me know if it is and I will edit this post with the video attached showing the problem, and my in-sim sliders as it might be easier for people to identify the issue from there.
For reference, my P3D cfg is below as well:

PMDG 777-200 Base Pack
HARDWARE:
Microsoft Windows 10-Pro - Fully updated
SSD for Windows and a Separate, individual SSD for P3D and all addons / scenery
Intel Core i7 4790K Running at 4GHz
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 GPU
At the moment, I dont have any overclocks on the system. I am trying to run everything at its factory recommended maximum settings to preserve hardware life etc... I also don't have any other modifications such as in NVIDIA's control panel, since these have not made any difference as expected to the performance for me.
If anyone is able to provide some suggestions from the above I'd be really grateful! Let me know if you would like a link to the video I have showing the problem and showing my in-sim sliders.

Hey guys, bit of a daft question but I'm coming back to the skies again on my channel and recording a flight from Birmingham (EGBB) to Dubai (OMDB)
Can anyone tell me what the correct altitude is for Glideslope Intercept for Runway 12L for an ILS approach?
I have the charts but not sure if it's just me being stupid I cannot see the altitude for glideslope capture on there?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone can make any sense of the LEPA charts for me. I have them right here but I'm unsure what the capture altitude for the glideslope is on runway 06L?
I've looked at the charts but it doesn't seem very obvious from my end?
Any advice?
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who has answered! I'm literally learning everything I possibly can about the do's and dont's, and different procedures etc... Its great to know we have some commercial members here with real world experience - I'd love to get in the cockpit one day and fly for real!

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering about using the lights on the 777-200 whilst on the ground and whilst in the air.
I know the taxi lights should obviously be used during taxi, and that the landing lights should be used when taking off and landing etc... but it's more the other lights such as the Strobes, Wing, Nav, Beacon and the Runway Turnoff lights I'm interested in....
When exactly do you use these lights when in the air and on the ground?
Could anyone give me a brief description of when they are all used? I've had a read or two through the PMDG manuals but I'm a little confused....
Cheers!

Hi guys,
So I'm wondering if someone can help me with this as it's rather frustrating with my PC which is more than capable of running P3D on medium to high settings.
The FPS inside the cockpit of the PMDG 777 is around 35-40 FPS which is great, however when it comes to panning around with the camera it seems very "jerky" and stuttery which puts me off completely.
It doesn't happen all the time, but mainly whilst on the ground.
The only tweak for my P3D cfg that has helped so far is Fiber Frame Time Fraction 0.01.
I have tried locking the FPS at 30 which makes the issue a thousand times worse, and only locking at 60 or unlimited makes it slightly better. I've tried enabling and disabling vsync and triple buffering which has very little (if any) effect. I have also tried enabling/disabling vsync, triple buffering, Hyperthreading and Intel Speedstep, all of which make very little (if any) difference at all...
How can I get rid of this annoying stutter and get smooth panning inside the cockpit?
The problem is completely gone when panning around outside the aircraft.
Specs:
Intel Core i7 4790k overclocked to 4.4GhZ
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Windows 10 pro 64 bitAddons:
Active Sky Next
GSX Ground Services
PMDG 777-200 (Base Pack)
FTX Global
REX 4 with Soft Clouds
Any suggestions would be great guys!

Hi guys,
At the moment I'm on my way to KLAS (Las Vegas) from Miami in the 777.
I took a look at the approach charts for runway 1L and it appears as though the glide slope is at 7000 feet?
Am I right in reading that? I got the chart from http://uk.flightaware.com/resources/airport/LAS/IAP/ILS+OR+LOC_DME+RWY+01L/pdf
Am I reading that wrong or is that the actual altitude to be at to capture the glide slope etc?
I'm still getting used to reading and understanding the charts so just want a bit of clarification.
Cheers!
