  1. Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone can make any sense of the LEPA charts for me. I have them right here but I'm unsure what the capture altitude for the glideslope is on runway 06L? I've looked at the charts but it doesn't seem very obvious from my end? Any advice? Thanks! -YorkiesWorld
  2. Thanks to everyone who has answered! I'm literally learning everything I possibly can about the do's and dont's, and different procedures etc... Its great to know we have some commercial members here with real world experience - I'd love to get in the cockpit one day and fly for real!
  3. Hi guys, I'm just wondering about using the lights on the 777-200 whilst on the ground and whilst in the air. I know the taxi lights should obviously be used during taxi, and that the landing lights should be used when taking off and landing etc... but it's more the other lights such as the Strobes, Wing, Nav, Beacon and the Runway Turnoff lights I'm interested in.... When exactly do you use these lights when in the air and on the ground? Could anyone give me a brief description of when they are all used? I've had a read or two through the PMDG manuals but I'm a little confused.... Cheers! -YorkiesWorld
  4. Hi guys, At the moment I'm on my way to KLAS (Las Vegas) from Miami in the 777. I took a look at the approach charts for runway 1L and it appears as though the glide slope is at 7000 feet? Am I right in reading that? I got the chart from http://uk.flightaware.com/resources/airport/LAS/IAP/ILS+OR+LOC_DME+RWY+01L/pdf Am I reading that wrong or is that the actual altitude to be at to capture the glide slope etc? I'm still getting used to reading and understanding the charts so just want a bit of clarification. Cheers! -YorkiesWorld
  5. Hi guys, So I've just re-installed everything from my P3D installation over to a new SSD to take advantage of faster loading times etc... How do I restore all my custom views and keybindings for EZDOK? I have a full main hard drive backup, as well as a full backup of my P3D installation from before so if its just a case of copying files over I can do that, but which ones do I need to copy over? Cheers! -MrYorkiesWorld
  6. Thanks guys, so according to the charts for runway 06 below, am I right in reading the altitude for this as 2000 feet? Or am I looking at the wrong figure? It shows ILS and LOC as 2000? -YorkiesWorld
  7. Hi guys, I'm learning to fly the PMDG 777-200 at the moment and I did a flight from EGCN (Doncaster Sheffield, UK) to LEIB (Ibiza, Spain). I'm fine with the ground config and takeoff etc..., but I wanted to know how I find out the correct altitude I have to be at when I want to capture the Glideslope when trying to perform an ILS approach. I usually set this to around 3500ft which works fine in the 737-800, however in the 777 this left me way too high, causing me to have to manually descend and land even though the Localiser was captured and Approach Mode switched on. How do I find out the correct altitude I need to be at in order to capture both the Localiser and the Glideslope correctly? Would this be on the airport charts by any chance? Cheers! -YorkiesWorld
  8. Currently it is installed on my SSHD as D:\P3D, but wanting to install onto an SSD to increase load times etc... -Yorkie
  9. Hi guys, I'd like to move my P3D installation to a new drive on it's own, and I know FSX does have it's own registry repair tool etc... However P3D as far as I know does not have a tool like this, so I have 2 options: 1) Find a way to move the installation to a new drive without corrupting everything 2) Just uninstall and re-install it onto the new drive If there's a way to do the first option I'd really like to try, but would it just be simpler to reinstall? I do have a lot of addons etc that would also need to be re-installed etc etc... Any advice guys? Cheers! -Yorkie
  10. Hi guys, So I'm wondering if someone can help me with this as it's rather frustrating with my PC which is more than capable of running P3D on medium to high settings. The FPS inside the cockpit of the PMDG 777 is around 35-40 FPS which is great, however when it comes to panning around with the camera it seems very "jerky" and stuttery which puts me off completely. It doesn't happen all the time, but mainly whilst on the ground. The only tweak for my P3D cfg that has helped so far is Fiber Frame Time Fraction 0.01. I have tried locking the FPS at 30 which makes the issue a thousand times worse, and only locking at 60 or unlimited makes it slightly better. I've tried enabling and disabling vsync and triple buffering which has very little (if any) effect. How can I get rid of this annoying stutter and get smooth panning inside the cockpit? The problem is completely gone when panning around outside the aircraft. Specs: Intel Core i7 4790k overclocked to 4.4GhZ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM Windows 10 pro 64 bit Any suggestions would be great guys! -Yorkie
  11. Hi everyone, I have just started reading through the training tutorial for the PMDG 777-200 base pack plane and have a question about the ILS landing configurations. Am I right in thinking that in order to configure the correct ILS frequency and course for my destination runway, I have to set this in the NAV RAD page of the FMC, or is this automatically done once the flight planning is complete and I've selected the arrival runway etc...? I've read about it in the documentation but just wanted to confirm I'm right in assuming that you can't use the NAV radios like in the 737NGX... I did try but the NAV radios on the 777 don't accept the digits of my runway ILS (111.10) so do I use the NAV RAD page on the FMC to configure this, or will it automatically be configured when I've selected my destination runway? Thanks guys! -Yorkie
  12. I think it can be overcloked quite a bit to be honest but so far I haven't tried that - when I'm set up at London Gatwick for example in the PMDG 737-800 I do get around 40 fps when in the virtual cockpit, and then way more when I change the view t an outside view - it's mainly the smoothness such as when I use Ezdok the camera movements are a little stuttery at times... Would you say there's anything that can be done in terms of getting rid of those stutters? They only happen in the virtual cockpit but can get slightly annoying at times Cheers! -Yorkie
  13. Hi guys, I'm wanting to make a few tweaks to my CFG that could possibly help me get smoother performance etc out of P3D v3. I've not made any changes just yet but can anyone recommend the best tweaks that will increase frames and let me run P3D as smoothly as possible? My PC is a Chillblast PC specifically designed for FSX and P3D, however as we all know sometimes a few tweaks are necessary just like in FSX to get everything running at its best. Any suggestions guys? My Hardware: Intel Core i7 4790k 4.0 Ghz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Cheers! -Yorkie
  14. I guess I do! haha thanks for that
  15. Thanks for that mate, I think I must have bought the wrong, I'll get it sorted - thanks again!
  16. Thanks for that everyone, really appreciate your help! I'll take a look around and maybe get REX at the same time as getting ASN
  17. Thanks for the help guys, just downloaded the new Ezdok for P3D!
  18. Thanks very much for that! Yes that's correct - However in the very beginning I flew the Cessna for a while back in FS2004, but since then and since the PMDG 737-800 for FSX and P3D I've really been trying my best to learn bigger and better things. I'm a bit of a slow learner and get easily confused at the moment with all the technical stuff, but I'm slowly learning to grasp things correctly and I've been thinking to go back to the roots and start off in smaller, easier aircraft before moving on and sharpening up my skills properly with the larger ones. Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it! -Yorkie
  19. Hey Jim, I have P3D v3 installed...
  20. Hey everyone, So I just got the Orbx FTX Global Base Pack, and tried to install into P3D v3, but I get an error message saying "Radio Buttons 01 > On Next, Line 16: Argument 2 must be of type string...." The exact error message is attached if anyone can help me? Thanks! -Yorkie
  21. Hi guys, I'm actually considering getting REX 4 for P3D v3, but does it have a weather engine by any chance? When I used FSX a long while ago I loved how it could download real-world weather, can REX 4 do this now with P3D or will I need another tool for that? If so, what are the best weather engines out there that are compatible with P3D v3? Cheers guy! -Yorkie
  22. Hi everyone, I hope this is in the correct forum thread, if not please let me know as I was unsure which one to put it into. Basically I have started using P3D v3 now as my main form of training and education for flying. I mainly use the 737-800 but I'd like to learn the basics of what everything means, and I was wondering if there is any such thing as an "official guide" or way of learning everything I'd need to know? I can fly the PMDG 737-800 using methods I've followed from YouTube videos and other forums, but I want to find some sort of guide which can help me understand what I'm actually doing when I am just "following" these guides, as I don't fully understand exactly what everything means. I know a little bit, but I'm still very new to flying and I'd love to one day be able to do everything correctly as they do in the real world. Things such as what radio frequencies I need to use at what point, and how I need to configure the aircraft in the most realistic way possible from cold and dark to landing an everything in between. I can be a slow learner with some things but I'm determined to achieve my goal and be fully confident with doing everything correctly! Do you have any useful links or detailed guides I can use to educate myself properly from the ground up? Cheers! -Yorkie
  23. Hi guys, I've just installed P3D v3 with a few addons and everything is working great - now I just need to find something for the weather! I'm wondering if there are any free weather engines to provide real world weather for P3D by any chance? I know there are payware ones out there but surely there must be some free ones too? Eventually I'll just probably buy one but It would be good if there were any free ones for the time being? Cheers guys! -Yorkie
  24. Hi everyone, I simply cannot get EZDOK to work in P3D v3 after just doing a fresh install. I've read numerous articles and forums on how to use migration tools and different methods of getting it to work, but I don't have FSX, I've never has any other versions of P3D installed before, and this is basically a clean installation now with just an airport and the PMDG 737 pack installed. Is there any simple solution to getting EZDOK installed into P3D without needing any migration tools or previous versions of Flight Sims? As I understand it they are supposed to be making an EZDOk version for P3D shortly, but I'm not sure if that's true? I'd really love to get EZDOK working as I had it back when I had my old FSX PC and it worked wonders in-flight for me. Are there any simple solutions guys? I've tried endless amounts of ways of doing this, been on YouTube, different forums etc... but it just will not show up as an addon or anything! Thanks! -Yorkie
  25. Hi guys, I'll be buying P3D V3 very soon and in the past when I used FSX I used the EZDOK camera addon. I don't have FSX or any other version of P3D or EZDOK installed on this new system, so exactly how easy is it to install EZDOK into a fresh installation of P3D v3? Is this difficult, or is there an easy way to do it? I've read a lot of forums and other posts from people saying they've had a lot of problems in trying to get it working correctly? Any advice would be great guys! Thanks1 -Yorkie
