  1. Hi sir, I just want to ask a question regarding on my experiences with the ILS for your 777. Im having some problems whenever i go off track of the STAR so that i can take a shorter route but every time i do this, the ILS frequency disappears on my PFD. If i follow the STAR the ILS frequency is still on my PFD and it follows the LOC. One other thing, if i go off track of the STAR and try to line up on the ILS, every time i press the LOC, i can see a HDG on the bottom of LOC. I just want to know on how to do an ILS approach if i go of track of the STAR. I hope to hear from you, sir. Thanks, Francis
  2. Hi guys, I'm learning to fly the PMDG 777-200 at the moment and I did a flight from EGCN (Doncaster Sheffield, UK) to LEIB (Ibiza, Spain). I'm fine with the ground config and takeoff etc..., but I wanted to know how I find out the correct altitude I have to be at when I want to capture the Glideslope when trying to perform an ILS approach. I usually set this to around 3500ft which works fine in the 737-800, however in the 777 this left me way too high, causing me to have to manually descend and land even though the Localiser was captured and Approach Mode switched on. How do I find out the correct altitude I need to be at in order to capture both the Localiser and the Glideslope correctly? Would this be on the airport charts by any chance? Cheers! -YorkiesWorld
  3. Good day! I recently bought the NGX 737 and I love it! I have 2 questions regarding it. 1 - Auto Pilot. I Came from using the stock 737 in FSX so I dont know what the LNAV AND VNAV do...I see everyone uses it in ILS landings but Im using to using VLOC and APP. Somotimes I click LNAV AND VNAV and i dont get a green light saying its been activated...so, how do I use auto pilot for ILS landings (NOT AUTO LAND) in the NGX 737? On a side note...where is the NAV/GPS switch so i can pick which one to use? 2 - FMC.....All i know is to set fuel, ground connections and a few other things like putting in the air port but i dont know the waypoint part since I never have any....I need to know how to use the FMC so it can tell me when to put my flaps and speed and all that.... Please send a link of a video or anything useful that teaches this. Its almost impossible to have a real flight without it. PLEASE give me a good starter flight plan for this so I can learn and last thing, SIDS, I dont even know where to find mine or what it is. Thank you In advance Mirakledba

  6. Hello! I want to practice ILS approaches with the NGX (LANDINGS MAINLY) So can I have a download link to an FSX load game saved filed where im aligned with the runway ( You know, Disengage AP and all that I will have to do about 500ft before touchdown) but you know what I mean! Thanks! I think tutorial 2 already has the downloaded saves...but where do i place them??
  7. Hi, Has any PRO-ATC/X user ever added ILS to a runway using ADE (my version is 1.6 but I'm sure that doesn't matter)? I have which all works fine other than one strange problem. The PRO-ATC/X moving map shows the green direction arrow of the new ILS always at 360° despite the actual runway heading. The FSX default map shows the new ILS green arrow pointing in the correct direction (runway heading) but I've tried everything to find out where the PRO-ATC/X moving map gets that information from so I finally decided to email Mourad and I did get a prompt response but sadly he doesn't know either. So, if anyone's had this problem and knows the answer I'd be truly grateful. Regards Steve
  8. Hello! I have an issues that I never used to have......Once im close to the runway and all straighten up with the run way, the pink diamond starts to move down, When that happens, I press approach hold (app) and it keeps going low and makes me crash before the runway! When do i click approach hold?? When the pink diamond STARTS to move or once its in the middle? Please help! This is for FSX, ILS landing.
  9. Hello! Just one question. Does NGX support automatic radio tuning. Because many airlines have that option. I can't find a button for enabling it from my CDU. Thanks!
  10. Hi All, I'm not sure if this is a RealityXP, FSX or ORBX problem so I'll put it here as a starter for 10 and see where it ends up... I'm flying Air Hauler a lot atm (ahem...for the last two and a half years, solid) I've bought EGDY (RNAS Yeovilton) as my FOB, and I cannot fly an instrument approach with the listed ILS on RWY27. It says it's the correct freq (111.30) and displays the correct ILS name on the GPS but the beam never appears on the HSI (or VOR2 if I set it up so) My question: is this FSX, ORBX' rendition of EGDY or is it just that RXP has the wrong freq? I have the updated (May 11) Db for RXP... Interestingly, Air Hauler lists it as not having ILS (which it does in RL) Any takers? Thanks
  11. No matter which airport or which ILS approach, or which aircraft, with autopilot and approach hold on, the localizer is mis-aligned with the runway, so I have to do a slight left bank right before landing. I have not added any scenery or changed any airport files. I have the latest Navigraph loaded into FS Commander and Radar Contact. Any clue?
  12. I have 2 questions:1. After today hotfix, during ILS autoland i have on PDF "SINGLE CH" even after engage second AP. someone else with the same problem? Solutions? and most important:2. I have windows 7 64bit, 4GB memory. Do I have to do paging? I did this before, when I had windows XP(min an max value - 3072) and I wonder: to leave it, or not to leave it,question is now? NGX works fine for me most of time - 22-26FPS, if I move the mouse - 16-19FPS, It's ok for me. But FSX freezes sometimes just for a second - like a slideshow, and it can be very annoying, especially if this happens on take off and final. I don't know the reason - probably CPU overload, but i want to try everything until next year when I plan to buy new system.I have Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.53 MHz, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GTAny suggestions?

  14. I've been using Microsoft Flight Simulator since 1984 when the Apple IIC version came out. After installing FSX a couple years ago I've been taking of and landing hundreds of time in my PMDG-747 with absolutely no problem. A couple weeks ago I installed the FSX-SE version and suddenly I'm missing all of my ILS approaches; each and every one is lining up the aircraft at the left of every airport in any condition of weather, it also show the route line in a slanted position in the navigation panel (it never align with the plane); even if I set wind manually to 0 knots and perfect conditions. I know exactly how to set up the waypoints and ILS approaches on the FMC, since I've been doing it for years. The problem seems to be the Steam Edition in which I don't know how to fix this issue. I'm considering to return to my out-of-the-box FSX Gold Edition; but the reason why I've installed the SE edition is because it fix some video graphic problems with FSX out-of-the-box on Windows 10 64 bits. Any help will be very well appreciated. David Quinn
  15. So here it is: my first ever flight sim tutorial released on Youtube. Let me know what you think. I tried to make it as professional as possible, both piloting and video wise.

  18. Hi, I am trying to use GPS choosing vectors to land to a ILS runway. I bet this is not the right way to do it with this aircraft (QW 146 Arvo RJ-100), but I am trying to learn on how would one do it. My Flight Plan is from KSEA-KPDX and chose the route in the GPS. And then I select the approach runway via the GPS - in this case I chose Runway 28R. I found the radio frequency, and I put it in Nav 1 and Nav 2 (I am quite positive this is wrong way, especially putting them all over the radios - but this was only done after numerous tries to capture Localizer and Glide Scope) - 111.30 I have Vor Loc button set to on (in Pic it is off though, as it is going towards holding pattern), and GPS button set to on - including Nav 1 and Nav 2 both set to on (apparently that is the only way to turn on Autopilot too??) I have spend numerous hours on google and youtube to understand ILS landing, and I get the jist of it - but this is 146 and in the videos it is usually 737. I know it should not be that different, but I bet there are some nuances. Please take a look at the pic, and let me know on what I am doing wrong. In the pic, the plane misses the runway completely and goes into holding pattern (as long as I have GPS button set to On). Once I am able to do this - I will have to learn the FMC. Anyway I appreciate anyone's help on this matter. [ Yes, I can set a default plan via the menu for a ILS Flight - but that is something I am not trying to do, nor I want to get ATC involved). I just want to see GPS and Nav radio guiding me to the Localizer and Glide Scope. ] Sorry for the double post - I have no idea on how that happened. Can someone delete the other duplicate post
  19. I have seen many discussions about the poor ILS alignment on some runways in FSX. From what I understand the magnetic headings change over time. And that MS just got some runway alignments just plain wrong ... or maybe they used data from elsewhere that was wrong. But what I don't understand is how to fix these problems so that ILS alignment is correct on most if not all runways. One example I've been trying to fix is MKJP Norman Manley at Kingston Jamaica. In FSX runway 12 sits phyically at 119 degrees ... confirmed by sitting the aircraft aligned on the runway and looking at the heading. Yet the FSX ILS data seems to say that it is at 122 degrees and a few feet further to the right than the runway on screen. The Jeppesen plate says it is at 120 degrees. So I can only guess FSX has the visual runway on the screen wrong and the ILS data wrong. Would not be so bad if they were both wrong but the same - but they aren't. I've seen many discussions about using AFCAD files to correct problems on an airport by airport basis. And using mag variation files. And using the latest data set from Navigraph. But what I do not understand is which of these I need, to correct these problems. Seems to me that if you corrected the alignment data it would still be wrong unless the visual runway was also corrected to match. All I'd like is everything to be in sync - runway on screen, ILS data and FMS data for my PMDG 737. Even if they are all wrong at least get them so they are all incorrect but in sync. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to update everything ... if that is possible. What files do I need to get it all in sync?
  20. Hi, I am wondering if anyone out there knows the SOP's in Australia (or anywhere else if its an ICAO regulation) for when Auto Pilot is Disengaged in australia on Landing with ILS? Given that most australian Airports are CAT I a few are CAT II and one is CAT III i would like to know when the AP is Disengaged at all, is it; Upon Flare? At DH? Is the Full landing conducted manually? How does this change with the visibility of the airfield? I did discover yesterday that in good visibility the preference is to conduct a CAT I and categories only increase with visiblity, where as ive allways been flying CAT IIIb or IIIc thus far ive looked at regualtions and some VA SOP's and none really answer this question Thanks Heaps!
  21. Hi, I was flying a Ryanair route (RYR0118) from Dublin (EIDW) to Gatwick (EGKK). I did the flight in the Ryanair configuration that comes with the Ryanair skin I downloaded from PMDG. I was on approach to EGKK runway 26L flying on A/P with VNAV and LNAV on. I tuned to the localiser and set the course (using the FSX info from the map page-the course on FMC approach page was different to FSX, which one should I use?). I like to arm the localiser, whilst on approach so it kicks in. I clicked VOR LOC, and nothing happened, the light didn't come on, I don't think it engaged. I clicked APP and that engaged showing G/S and something like F/S?? This confused me, as I thought I'd done everything correct. On my PFD, it said BZB/261(course I set), and then DME with no number, and ILS. I did have a DME at about 75 DME, I look away and look back and it's now blank, this came back before I realised that I was not low enough and imminently about to crash. I was concentrating on why this wasn't working, not looking at my instruments and ended up having to go around, and then ending the flight cause I had run out of fuel. I am a novice (I've only done a hand full of flights) and I've learnt from YouTube and just guess work. One thing I am confused about is setting minimums. Is that on the panel where you adjust the efis, and indicates Baro on the PFD ?? This isn't the first time I've struggled with landing, I can't always get the VOR to engage, and so I just click APP and VOR repetadely until something happens. I'm sorry to bombard you all, I've just got a few questions that I can't seem to find answers to! Many thanks for any help you can give. Kind regards. C I forgot to add, the plan I used was to takeoff on runway 10 (I couldn't find a sid that fitted in my plan so just executed it on 10) and land me on 26L, but I couldn't find a STAR that brought me in, so I just clicked ILS 26L and execute, was this wrong?
  22. I'm releasing my next video tutorials in my Basics Boot Camp Series called "How To Fly A Perfect ILS". I've been contacted by several flight simmers asking for a video tutorial on how to fly a good ILS approach. They tell me speed is the number one problem for them when trying to fly an ILS. They are coming in to intercept the localizer too fast and they don't really know how that happens. In some cases they are coming in to intercept the localizer at 250 kts. I hope these video tutorials solve those speed issues and perhaps, some other gray areas as well. This ILS video project has turned out to be much bigger than I originally thought. Many of you have been emailing me asking "is it done yet?" "It is done yet?" Yes, I'm behind schedule but honestly, I have spent most of my time for the last 7 days creating, recording, editing and trying to finish up this ILS series. A lot of video re-recordings, a lot of video production editing, etc. My training standards are very high and all of this takes time to produce. But it's all worth it because I know all of the new flight simmers appreciate the end results. Now that I have uploaded this information to this post, I am going to take a couple of days off and rest up before starting work on Part 4 of this ILS series! So, back to the videos. This is a multi-part video tutorial: YouTube links are at the end of this post. Part 1a - the Ground School basics on how to correctly set up for the ILS approach. Part 1b - the Ground School basics on how to correctly set up for the ILS approach. Part 2 - PMDG 737NGX simulator demo, flying a Boeing standard ILS. Part 3 - PMDG 737NGX simulator demo, flying a non-standard ILS. Part 4 - a bonus flying demo. I am releasing parts 1 through 3 now and I will be adding this part 4 flying demo over the next few days. Note that the ground school Part 1 has been broken down into two parts: Part 1a and Part 1b. I thought I could do the ground school Part 1 video in one shot but it got kind of long, so I decided to split it into two parts. I want to say a big thank you to my three helpers: Spin737 (Matt Colles) made several suggestions on changes to reflect real world flying. scandinavian13 (Kyle Rogers) checked the video for technical accuracy. Kyle thanks for your technical review. Everyone appreciates the depth and breathe of your experience on the 737NGX in this forum. efmartin (Eric Martin) checked the draft video and made several suggestions for better clarity on some of the topics. All of their suggestions were implemented. This collaboration process helps to ensure that what you all see is technically correct and reflects what a real 737NGX pilot does when flying. If you have any questions or comments after viewing these video tutorials, please PM me here or email me at the email address shown in the opening screen of the Part 1a ground school video. I hope you all enjoy viewing these ILS video tutorials. YouTube links: Part 1a - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to2mWqp4kNU Part 1b - Part 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU5zcxgXUO4 Part 3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKD8H5-SkUQ Part 4 Coming soon!
