Hi Dave, I have been using P2A a lot recently and have noted that, when I first load a flight plan - even before the sim is connected, that P2A puts a magenta line on the destination airport indicating the preferred approach. Fine, but after I connect the sim (and force real time weather), approach continues to recommend a runway that is not correct for the wind. Usually it is the same one as the magenta line. BTW, I have P2A set to use the sim weather. It would be nice if P2A would check the sim wind at the time when Center turns control over to Approach so that Approach recommends a runway that is appropriate. Am I missing something that I should be doing?

From this point on I should have the runway in sight and the VOR part of the approach pretty much ends and I am fully visual. I want to practice ILS approaches with the NGX (LANDINGS MAINLY) So can I have a download link to an FSX load game saved filed where im aligned with the runway ( You know, Disengage AP and all that I will have to do about 500ft before touchdown) but you know what I mean!   7. Been simming for sometime but, I mainly stick to ILS landings and when I do visual approaches it's usually to airports I'm familiar will. I run into problems on visual approaches and landings at airports I'm less familiar with. Obviously, ATC will guide me to a certain flight level but once the approval is given for landing I'm on my own. Don't really have problems lining up with the runway but, I always have issues with altitude. Question; is there a standard way to use the A/P (VNAV) on visual approaches? Just to help with altitude? I know about the FPM calculations but is that what your guys/gals do? Or, do you really just fly it by hand? If so, do you practice approaches and landings at particular airports you plan to fly to? If you're truly able to "wing it" what helpful advice can you give? Is it just practice, practice and more practice? What works for you?

  9. Hi there, So I got a quick question regarding pro-atc. I got this approach for Moscow : http://imgur.com/a/PG8MO Is this normal? And it's not the first time I got a very bad appoach, also at Amsterdam(EHAM) I've got a impossible approuch with 180 turn. Can anybody help me with this issue?

    ILS Problems

    I've been using Microsoft Flight Simulator since 1984 when the Apple IIC version came out. After installing FSX a couple years ago I've been taking of and landing hundreds of time in my PMDG-747 with absolutely no problem. A couple weeks ago I installed the FSX-SE version and suddenly I'm missing all of my ILS approaches; each and every one is lining up the aircraft at the left of every airport in any condition of weather, it also show the route line in a slanted position in the navigation panel (it never align with the plane); even if I set wind manually to 0 knots and perfect conditions. I know exactly how to set up the waypoints and ILS approaches on the FMC, since I've been doing it for years. The problem seems to be the Steam Edition in which I don't know how to fix this issue. I'm considering to return to my out-of-the-box FSX Gold Edition; but the reason why I've installed the SE edition is because it fix some video graphic problems with FSX out-of-the-box on Windows 10 64 bits. Any help will be very well appreciated. David Quinn
  11. When I am reaching the top of descent point during crs altitude, I choose my approach for the destination. Then I click execute once I choose an approach, but the approach plan doesnt connect to the flight plan? It is just a blank space in between both plans. Wierd eh? Don't I need a transition point in between so it can all connect? When i go to the legs page, in between my normal flight plan and the approach plan, there is a line that says "flight plan discontinued". What do i type in so it can connect together? Can someone please explain this to me. Can someone tell me where I can find the ILS frequency's for runways I want to land? Is there a page on the internet or something? LASTLY, (sorry for so many questions), how do I know what my glideslope should be during descent? And lastly lastly, is there an ILS descent and approach checklist for this plan anywhere?   12. I have been struggling to find information in the FCOM, FCTM and in the forums that fully address the capabilities and limitation of the RNAV approach functions in the 777. I have no problem flying CAT III ILS Autoland approaches but I want to know if the autpilot will also fly an RNAV GPS approach and to what minimums, is it possible to fly an Autoland RNAV apporach, is this even possible or make sense? Also I would like to make sure I understand the requirements, in terms of cockpit setup, to complete say an RNAV GPS apporach to LPV mins. For example the RNAV (GPS) Y RWY1C to LPV mins into KIAD. Thanks for any help or references.

  14. When I am reaching the top of descent point during crs altitude, I choose my approach for the destination. Then I click execute once I choose an approach, but the approach plan doesnt connect to the flight plan? It is just a blank space in between both plans. Wierd eh? Don't I need a transition point in between so it can all connect? When i go to the legs page, in between my normal flight plan and the approach plan, there is a line that says "flight plan discontinued". What do i type in so it can connect together? Can someone please explain this to me. Can someone tell me where I can find the ILS frequency's for runways I want to land? Is there a page on the internet or something? LASTLY, (sorry for so many questions), how do I know what my glideslope should be during descent? And lastly lastly, is there an ILS descent and approach checklist for this plan anywhere?     737 NGX VOR LOC not arming

    Hi, I was flying a Ryanair route (RYR0118) from Dublin (EIDW) to Gatwick (EGKK). I did the flight in the Ryanair configuration that comes with the Ryanair skin I downloaded from PMDG. I was on approach to EGKK runway 26L flying on A/P with VNAV and LNAV on. I tuned to the localiser and set the course (using the FSX info from the map page-the course on FMC approach page was different to FSX, which one should I use?). I like to arm the localiser, whilst on approach so it kicks in. I clicked VOR LOC, and nothing happened, the light didn't come on, I don't think it engaged. I clicked APP and that engaged showing G/S and something like F/S?? This confused me, as I thought I'd done everything correct. On my PFD, it said BZB/261(course I set), and then DME with no number, and ILS. I did have a DME at about 75 DME, I look away and look back and it's now blank, this came back before I realised that I was not low enough and imminently about to crash. I was concentrating on why this wasn't working, not looking at my instruments and ended up having to go around, and then ending the flight cause I had run out of fuel. I am a novice (I've only done a hand full of flights) and I've learnt from YouTube and just guess work. One thing I am confused about is setting minimums. Is that on the panel where you adjust the efis, and indicates Baro on the PFD ?? This isn't the first time I've struggled with landing, I can't always get the VOR to engage, and so I just click APP and VOR repetadely until something happens. I'm sorry to bombard you all, I've just got a few questions that I can't seem to find answers to! Many thanks for any help you can give. Kind regards. C I forgot to add, the plan I used was to takeoff on runway 10 (I couldn't find a sid that fitted in my plan so just executed it on 10) and land me on 26L, but I couldn't find a STAR that brought me in, so I just clicked ILS 26L and execute, was this wrong?
  16. I apologize in advance if someone has posted this before (I thought I remember reading it a long while ago but searched and couldn't find it), but I am having the following issue... As I am approaching localizer capture, as soon as I press the APPR/LAND button on the MCP (I usually do this when the localizer beam is one dot or less off) the aircraft suddenly and over-dramatically banks towards the localizer beam (causing it to go past it) then back in the other direction before finally intercepting it (i.e., if the beam is slightly off to the left and I am turning right to intercept, as soon as I press APPR/LAND instead of continuing the right turn and intercepting the aircraft suddenly banks to the left "towards the beam," overshoots it, then banks dramatically back to the right.) I assume this is an issue and the real aircraft does not do this? I have never noticed this with any other addons, including other PDMG addons. Thanks Michael Demers
  17. Please forgive me if this has been covered before but it hasn't showed up in my results. I just got back to FSX and learned to navigate by VOR and program the autopilot but it doesn't work quite how I want. I key in the ILS frequency of the destination runway into the gps, switch to GPS from NAV, take-off, switch on autopilot (altitude, VOR hold, airspeed etc) and I can see the aircraft becomes aligned with the runway on my flight instruments yet when I get closer to the destination airport the runway is skewed and positioned perpendicular with the aircraft... I thought that if the aircraft shows aligned with the runway on my instruments it should also be aligned with the actual runway. Am I forgetting something? This is on a boeing 737 aircraft Thanks!
  18. Afternoon everyone. I would like to ask the frequent flyers of the PMDG 777 a brief question about approach flap selection. Yesterday, I was just about to start my approach into Frankfurt. I selected flaps 20 in the FMS and verified the selection when I went through the landing checklist on final. However, just a few hundred feet above the ground, the GPWS began to shout at me, "Too low! Flaps!" Of course, this warning prevented the altitude callouts and my landing was quite rough. I've never had this issue when using flaps 25 or 30. Is this a bug or have I missed something?
  19. Hey guys, I have a quick question that I havent been able to find the answer to in a search. When I do a localizer only (not ILS) approach with autopilot on and LOC selected, What is the best way to maintain the correct descend rate. Currently I am using the altitude setting on the MCP along with V/S FPA and then monitoring it on the MFD until I get a couple hundred feet or so from the runway and then I turn off the autopilot and throttle down and land. I am wondering if there is a better way, for example can I keep the localizer enabled so I can stay on a more precise track to the runway and manually controll my throttle and pitch. It seems like if you want to have the localizer enabled then you also have to have the altitude / VS controlled by the autopilot as well. In the real world do pilots turn off everything and go manual when they are near the aiport? And if so how soon is it common to do this? Thanks, Tavis

  21. Hi everybody. Zurich airport has 16/34 and 14/32 as its main long runways and a shorter 8C/26 as a cross runway that intersects. As I near the airport, the default ATC always (and without fail) do assign me 8C/26 which probably is not even used and/or not convenient for big planes to land. Now what I did, I opened up relevant bgl in ADE and merely updated this runway 8C/26 to not allow takeoff and landing. I did not forget to compile scenery. No luck, next time I was given another warm welcome on the same runway. (I obviously get it changed every time and that's not the concern.) Anybody who has an idea of what else need to be done here (I am missing something for sure), please do suggest. Objective is, I want the ATC to not even consider 8C/26 for any approach.     No vor dme approach option

    Hi there, When flying with the PMDG 737 800, I can't get any vor dme approaches, to airports that I know have them. I am using the latest navigraph airac. I have included a picture to show the issue. At LPMA, I should have a option to fly a vor dme approach, and none of the approaches match up with the approach plate. How do I get a vor dme approach?
