  1. When I select an airport and then select the procedures tab in the information window, no SIDs are displayed only approach procedures. Is this correct or should SIDs be also detailed? I have the latest airac cycle installed in P3D v4 from FsAerodata and Navigraph. FsAerodata Folder has two sub-folders under the P3D Folder - 'PROC' and 'PROC_SIDs' both with 'scenery' sub-folders and I have 3 files in the LN database - little_navmap_.sqlite, little_navmap_compiling.sqlite-journal & little_navmap_p3dv4.sqlite. 2. Hi all, Quick question, I just bought the DC-6 few hours ago and so far I love it! Just a quick question regarding the GPS, is there a way the PMDG 430 can be used for flying SID/STARS ? I know this was a limitiation with the default GPS from fsx, but with some aircraft the P3D gps does fine. I'm using FSaerodata with Navigraph to enter all the Sid's star's and navdata into P3D. This is stated on their website, offcourse talking about the default 430 not the PMDG; How can be simulated SIDs and STAR procedures on the GPS units? fsAerodata implements aprox. 65,000 SIDs and STARs procedures that can be simulated using a new feature available on Prepar3D GPS units. Feature is available with the 'PROC' (Procedures) button. To enable this feature on any aircraft GPS, the user has to edit the aircraft panel configuration file, replacing the gps type from default version '' to ''. Can this be done on the DC6. That would be amazing, Thanks all. Michael
  3. I am having trouble with the Boeing 737NGX. I am trying to program the route for my check flight. When I try to select a SID, I can either select the SID, then not be able to select the transition. Or I can select the Runway to filter the SIDs, then be unable to select a SID. Can someone help me please?
  4. Hi Maarten, My favourite plane to fly is the mjc Q400, which because of its unique FMC format does not take data straight from SLX. So I tend to plan my flights in SimBrief and export the data to both the Q400 and FSX. I then use SLX to make any adjustments, which are then manual programmed into the Q400 FMC. One of the main activities in SLX is to apply SID, STAR and Approach data, which, if I am correct FSX does not store in its pln files(?) Accordingly I use the flatten tool to convert all the additional info into waypoints for saving in the pln file. However I have noticed that once flattening is applied and the waypoint table updates, SLX does not highlight that a change has been made and the toolbar ribbon does not prompt for a "Save". In order to allow me to save the amended Flight Plan I have to make some sort of other change e.g. tweaking the altitude. Not a significant issue but still an nuisance. Regards, Michael
  5. Flying out of KLAX I filed SID ORCKA1 It went well but it wasn't super realistic. ATC left me alone to flight the SID without issues, transfering me from tower to departure then to center. But in real life for this SID you get vectors to KLIPR. Is this how P2ATC normally works or do I have the wrong settings?
  6. Greetings, When I updated the Navgraph data for Carenado (all products), the runway, SID, and STAR data for many airports are not showing anymore on the FMC DEP/ARR page. Any ideas why? Thank you for the help in advance. Faisal.
  7. Hi, still learning the FMC.. I have Navigraph and PFPX. If I plan a route, I add the SID and STAR for the the runways in the FMC. However, I have no idea which one to choose for my particular route. I know that if you pick an runway, it shows the appropriate, possible SIDS and STARS, still a lot to choose from.... I try to find these somewhere in programs and documentation, but no luck until now. I pick one that seems kinda ok, stepping through the legs, sometimes end up with spaghetti Where/how can I find the options available in the FMC on charts? (Would save me some fuel too ;-) ) thanks, Tony
  8. So here it is: my first ever flight sim tutorial released on Youtube. Let me know what you think. I tried to make it as professional as possible, both piloting and video wise.
  9. Ok, so say I have been designated a SID to follow after takeoff, the SID has strict rules for climbing for example at 4000ft at a certain waypoint, then 5000ft next one and so on. Then after takeoff atc instructs me let say for example "climb FL 150". Should I just forget the published restrictions and shoot up or obey the restrictions until past the last restriction point and then just climb to assigned FL? And if I follow the restrictions, say the ATC directs starts all of a sudden giving me vectors (which take me off my published SID lateral route) out of the terminal area, can I at that point forget about the alt restrictions since I am not even flying the published SID anymore? Thanks!
  10. Hello everybody I started this tread to be able to follow any question/suggestion/issue you have with the tool I've developed. The tools is called SIDSTAR Converter. It will convert all the files you want in PMDG format using a special version of AiConv.exe (thanks Roland!!) It has a friendly and straight forward user interface. And it will create a folder structure with the names of countries and states with all the converted files inside. It will also create a txt file with the lines that you should copy to the AISIDSTAR.ini to be ready for use. Please, read the readme that explains everything in a more detailed way. Here is the link: Regards,
  11. I flew the SEEVR1 RNAV Arrival into KDFW tonight with no traffic anywhere to justify the speed restrictions on the arrival. I did still want to comply with the altitude restrictions. But... I couldn't figure out how to either A) Delete just the speed restriction on the pre-populated VNAC restrictions. B) Enter altitude restrictions as between two altitudes - or - What is the correct way to do either of these? E.g. FEWWW.SEEVR1 has a restriction at NECKK to cross Below FL280 and Above FL240 at 290KIAS. In the FMC legs page this was represented as 290/240 280. As a work around, I created an along track waypoint a tenth of a mile before NECKK and assigned it altitude "280B" and then assigned NECKK 240A, with no speed on either one. It was a good amount of button pushing for what I think should be pretty straight forward.

  14. Hi. Is there an option to create flight plans with an external program (FScommander etc.) and save them in what ever format MFD GPS needs, so they can then be loaded from the GPS. Were are the flight plans saved and in what format? Also is there going to be SID STAR updates coming? gps autopilot? Thanks BJR
  15. Imagine following scenario with PMDG 737 -800 at TNCM. TNCM RWY 10 MULLET ONE DEPARTURE to JUICE transition. Initial climb and right turn to D10 is OK. What comes next is more challenging. According to the SID chart: ".....track 315, intercept B-520 " How should I intercept B-520 on radial 292 PJM if I need to follow the chart exactly. Can this be done with a 737? Sincerely -Geir
  16. Hi, first of all, Sorry for my bad english i`m from Austria. I`d like to fly wih my Boing 737-900 from Vienna to Rom Fiumicino. 17. I have a problem getting VoxATC to use SIDs and STARs. I am using VoxATC v6.05 with FSX in a Windows 7 64bit environment, with 8GB ram. Only add-ons are VoxATC, FSUPIC, Reality XP’s GNS530W, and RealAir’sLancair Legacy (my IFR platform). Here’s what I have done so far, based on reading the manual and Forum postings. 1 Downloaded the latest NaviGraph navdata FMS file for Level-D 767 format, installed into the FSX directory (Flight Simulator X/Level-D Simulations/navdata), and pointed VoxATC to that subdirectory in Advanced Settings; run the Indexer; and checked that SIDs and STARs are now available to VoxATC by loading VoxATC’s procedure pronunciation editor and checking for the presence of SIDs and STARs. All looks good. 2 Created a flight plan in FSX’s flight planner, and edited to ensure that the first waypoint after departure airport is a valid SID waypoint for the possible runways in use, and likewise ensuring that the last waypoint before the destination airport is a valid STAR entry point for all likely runways (using RouteFinder to identify the appropriate SID exit and STAR entry waypoints for the route). In my example the route is LFSB HOC LSZH. (By “ensuring a valid waypoint” I mean ensuring that waypoint name in the FSX flight plan is the same as on the SID or STAR. I note this because the specific longs/lats differ between the current navdata file and the old FSX data, but I presume that only the name is relevant.) I set the IFR cruising altitude to be at least that stated on the relevant STAR as required or likely for possible transitions, although I don’t know if this is relevant. 3 With the flight plan saved, I save the flight with the aircraft parked at a suitable gate at the destination airport (either allowing FSX to move the aircraft there when closing the flight planner, or having parked there before creating and saving the flight plan and choosing not the have the aircraft moved; I have tried both ways). 4 I then open another saved flight, check that it is fully opened by clicking various switches on the panel and ensuring they move, then close that flight. I then reopen the saved IFR flight. I understand that this is necessary to have FSX connect the saved IFR flight with the new flight plan created for that saved flight. 5. I check that the flight plan is registered for the flight by looking at the NavLog in the Knneboard, then open VoxATC, contact clearance, and request clearance for my IFR flight. I receive “Cleared to [destination airport], cleared as filed, climb and maintain flight level 60 …” No mention of the SID. 6. I have retried with different departure and arrival airports, different SID exit and STAR entry waypoints, but the result remains the same Does anyone have any suggestions? David
  18. Hello, I am having trouble understanding the altitude restrictions and altitude ceiling on the VTU5 SID at KLAX. ( Let's say I were to use the VTU.RZS transition. If I were to read this right, it basically says, after takeoff from let's say Rwy 24L, maintain heading 250 and stay below 3000 ft. You will then receive vectors to VTU VOR after which you will navigatee to RZS. My questions: 1. What is the altitude restriction at VTU on this chart? Will ATC be assigning this? 2. Will ATC vector me again to RZS after passing VTU? 3. What would the altitude restriction at RZS be? 4. What does the "6000" between VTU and RZS mean? Does that mean minimum altitude of 6000? 5. The SID ends at RZS I assume (or rather "transitions" into RZS). What is the SID celing? Thank you for your help! Anubhav
  19. Hello,I just flew a appr using a chart and this went ok. In this case I needed a vor from the airport and first fly over it. Then make a 180 turn and fly into the ils beam. After landing I thought I look up the star for the same rnw (using flight sim commander) and expacted to see the same line draw, but instead it come from any direction (n, s, e, w) and stoped infront of the ils beam. Can anybody explain if there is a relation between star and chart appr's, or are they used saparately? Thanks,Maikel Rozemeijerpe1123
  20. Hi Guys, I recently purchased the PMDG 737NGX and I have completed a few flights in it. However, on every flight, I've not been able to land the plane like I should be able to. I've been following LNAV and VNAV throughout the entire flight. My SID and STAR was entered correctly and everything appeared to be running smoothly. I was still on VNAV and LNAV when I was moments away from turning onto final. I had NAV 1 and NAV 2 armed. I engaged VOR LOC just before I turned onto final. The plane began to turn and then successfully lined up with the runway. After it had lined up I engaged APP expecting it to capture the G/S; somehow, I missed the G/S and had to descend manually. Now, I think the reason it is doing this is because I was going to fast. At the point of capturing the G/S I am normally traveling at a steady pace of 150KIAS; this time it was 220KIAS. I had speed brakes fully extended yet it made little difference. So I think the VNAV speeds are too fast and I can't slow down in time for my landing. I've been told that I should allow VNAV to bring the plane down during the initial decent but then descend at my own choice of vertical speed and my own speed input. If this is correct, how shall I slow down during my STAR. I know it's a strange issue but I'm only 14 so I don't have the broadest of knowledge for this complex aircraft. I need recommendations quite urgently if possible. Thank you.
