  1. Hmm.. ok, I see how you can use 2 Saitek TQ's and move around the knobs. Is buying 2 of these a better alternative to buying the 1 CH that already has 6 controls?
  2. How are you all flying multi engine planes as far as controlling power/prop/mixture? I have the CH Eclipse yoke and have been using it's built in TQ for single engine. Started looking at moving up to multi engine, but it seems like I really need a dedicated multi engine TQ like what CH offers. Is there any other way to reasonably do this without buying another piece of hardware? I guess I have no choice if I don't want to use the keyboard.. which I really find clunky for this purpose. Also, too bad there is not a add on to the yoke that uses the single engine TQ I already have.
  3. I just watched a video of what the FAA just approved for testing and it's nothing like the concept car/plane they were touting a few years ago. What I just saw on video was sort of a like a mini Osprey, with tilting rotors for vertical takeoffs and forward flight. In car mode the rotors (props) folded against the nacells.. then the mini wings folded down against the sides and the nacells sort of folded away like landing gear into the sides of the vehicle. This all happens in a few minutes after landing while you're still sitting in the cockpit (drivers seat?) Looks way cool, can land like a copter and does 200 mph in forward flight?? Expensive though. The video implied there would be alot of automation around landing and taking off. I worked with a guy at my last job whose brother in law is one of the principals in the company. They've been around for years... somebody must have deep pockets.
  4. Thanks guys... just what I was looking for. Also from what I can tell, the steam version is probably the best way to go. I've downloaded the demo, but does it ever go on sale on steam?
  5. So after about a 6 year hiatus, I got the itch to get back into flight siming. Had FSX, can't find the discs, and the few add-ons I had are long gone. So did a little research and looks to me like X-Plane is the best bet for a fresh startup at this point. I'm an inactive PP, so the 'alleged' more realistic flight model is attractive. Plus would like to explore VA's. I'm waiting for my 16 gigs of ram and new video card to arrive, and also the CH Eclipse yoke and pro pedals I got on ebay. I'm a bit overwhelmed with what are must have add-ons at this point. Maybe someone who's been thru this recently can offer some advice? Just looking for the first set of have-to-haves. Then after getting acclimated with that I'm sure I'll be off to the races on my own.
