  1. That's interesting and thanks for your help.
  2. I don't have many add-ons either...just Carenado Piper Malibu Mirage PA46/ Carenado/Alabeo Diamond DA40 and the Cruz Piper-sport Cruiser...all have good reviews. Nice to hear yours turned also and in the real world...that's good to hear...maybe it's all natural and the way they're supposed to fly. No one mentions having to keep pressure on the stick and rudder very often so I wasn't sure but then I think most people trim the aircraft out so they wouldn't say to much about it. I'm aware some aircraft don't have aileron or rudder trim so not sure how they deal with things like this. Thanks for telling me about your experience! Oh I also have a couple freeware jets...Gulfstream and Falcon 7. The Gulfstream IV turns to the left also for whatever that's worth...not sure if there's a connection there or not.
  3. By the way... I have a Logitech 3D Extreme with a twist handle for rudder. Bought a new one as they didn't have any other types of sticks...thinking my other one was bad but no....same thing. Took it back and ordered a CH Products Yoke...no rudder peddles...just the yoke. Well it helped a good bit...still rolls a little but not as bad and think since there's no rudder then X Plane coordinates it automatically and put rudder in. I hooked the Logitech back up thinking something's not setup right with it which is where I am now.
  4. I've got a handle on the attitude/level flight and understand using trim to stay level. It's the roll that causing me trouble. I can see the instruments showing a roll beginning to start and can almost feel it as I know it's going to happen as soon as I let up pressure on the stick and or rudder. Some aircraft more so than others want to roll left but they all want to roll left to some degree. So your aircraft don't roll if you take your hand off the stick? I checked the fuel weight and it's balanced so something seems off...maybe it's me. I was used to flying in a rudder/aileron coordinated mode in FSX but am now using X Plane. In FSX I remember having this problem but added a passenger to balance the weight and it fixed it. Can't do that in X Plane 10 and not even sure that's the problem. Could be that's how aircraft are and I'm just not used to it but I don't know. The Baron 58 rolls to the right I think...King Air to the left, Piper Malibu Mirage to the left and the Diamond DA40 rolls to the left. I really want to get this thing figured out. Oh...not using any null zone either... Thanks.
  5. I'm confused myself. I'm hearing from a few people to use rudder to fix a roll but don't say much about aileron. When the aircraft starts to roll left I can use a wee bit of left rudder to bring it back but I also need a touch of right aileron too...actually both and I have to keep both applied to keep the ball centered. I can use right aileron to correct it too but have to keep nudging it to the right or steady pressure on both rudder/aileron at all times. It all starts from takeoff until landing. If I use to much left rudder to correct a left roll then I go into a steeper left roll so right aileron is needed. I recalibrated my stick and it still did it...even bought a new stick and it still does it. Also thought it might be a fuel or weight imbalance but doesn't look like it.
  6. Thanks guys. I mentioned trim not the autopilot but it doesn't matter...they're close enough. Oracle...I don't mean to be splitting hairs here but when you said "regular input" is that the same as "constant input" meaning your hands/feet stay on the stick/rudder applying a light touch of "constant" pressure....like a human trim tab...which is what I'm having to do. If I take my hands/feet off the controls for a couple seconds then the plane will start rolling. May as well throw this in too while we're at it...so where and how does hands off straight and level flight come into play here...are they using their feet on the rudder? I've seen videos of this but rudder is never mentioned. I assumed hands off meant feet off too but maybe I'm wrong here. Sorry for all the questions.
  7. Thanks John. Well if the plane starts turning left I can use just wee touch of left rudder and it straightens out but if I use more than a wee touch and I mean a hairs width more the plane will turn to the left even more...does that sound right? I also have to keep constant wee tiny pressure on the stick/aileron and rudder through the whole flight...is that normal too...I'm not talking about a little here and a little there...I'm talking about the whole flight from takeoff to touchdown. I bought a new stick and recalibrated everything and this is what's happening so I'd like to know if that sounds right. Constant little pressure...normal? Thanks again.
  8. I want to see if real world flying in GA aircraft is like in simulation. Many GA aircraft I have want to roll to the left so I need to add a bit of right aileron and bit of rudder to get straight and level but I have to keep a little pressure on the stick and rudder to stay straight and level unless I trim the elevator and aileron. I'm aware some aircraft in the real world don't have aileron or rudder trim so if they have to keep a bit of constant pressure on the stick and rudder would they be able to do hands off straight and level flight and does hands off mean feet off rudder too? My big question is if it's normal to keep a little constant pressure on the stick and rudder if it's not trimmed? I can trim the elevator to keep a level altitude but not sure about straight flight if the aircraft doesn't have aileron and rudder trim...how does that work?
  9. Not sure if I'm doing this right and got my wires crossed but here's my question. I'm using the Carenado Piper Malibu Mirage and when I advance the throttles for takeoff the prop rpm advances too even though the prop lever is already full forward and maxed. The prop rpm instrument shows a low rpm even with the lever maxed unless I move the throttles forward. When I'm in the air and throttle back to a low MP setting the prop rpm will also drop automatically. Are the throttles and prop coupled or tied in together somehow...does the throttle affect the prop rpm? By the way I'm starting with the engines already running when I start the sim...am working on learning to start from cold and dark though but noticed this and wanted to ask. Thanks.
  10. Hi Andy. So Steam is just an online store then. Read somewhere you have to be online to fly...not sure what that means exactly. My power supply is a 600WT ATX...I asked about it and they said it will be ok. It's a new computer and I got Compuzone to built it for FSX. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
  11. Thanks guys. I'm new to Dovetail Steam so don't know much about it. Seems like a multiplayer platform of sorts. So if it's downloaded would I be flying on a server somewhere with others? I hope I'm wrong but I like flying alone...just not much into flying on line. Vatsim is ok but I have a funny feeling about being connected to some server somewhere sitting on a runway with a bunch of teenagers yelling and all... flying into control towers...you get the picture. Excuse my ignorance...I just don't know much about it and I'm probably wrong in my assumptions. Thanks.
  12. It's a new system and now I'm getting Windows Installer Help error message and it won't install. Tried tracking down some fixes and I'm about done with it. Looking for a new FSX Deluxe Edition but all I see are mostly used for sale on Amazon which might not even install depending on how many computers they were already installed on. The Steam Edition looks like some sort of multiplayer game thing and installing it doesn't look very promising from what I've read so taking a closer look at X Plane now.
  13. Thanks Mickey. Updated the drivers last night. That message in itself doesn't bother me only that it might have something to do with my problem. By the way...if anyone knows...SP1 or SP2 do not show up in FSX files with all the other files...is that normal? Both say they installed but I don't see where they are. I did see SP2 in the Add Remove Program but not SP1...maybe SP2 takes over and SP1 isn't listed anymore? The more I mess with this the more I might try the Steam version or something else.
  14. ok...on it and thanks. Well not sure if I did it right but I typed in windows log in windows search and info about Control Panel came up along with two SP2 files...that's all it said. Was wondering if I might need to reinstall SP1 and SP2 again. My version of FSX is old...it's the Deluxe Boxed Version I got way back when around 2010 or there abouts. Didn't run good on my old machine so I stayed with FS9. I reinstalled FSX yesterday but think something might be going on with the updates not being installed right. Stupid question but I have to ask...I didn't notice an Installer in SP1...I just clicked it and it seemed to install ok. SP2 says you have to run the installer first...to me that sounds like two different packages...one the installer and the other being SP2 but I only see SP2 and no separate download...so the installer is included in the SP2 download and it's only one download? I'm also considering getting the Steam Version of FSX instead of messing with this seeing it's newer and maybe more up to date. My Deluxe Version might have been corrupted or something and maybe the SP updates also.
  15. Thanks Jude...no messages ...it just freezes but I get engine sounds. Jude...what is the event viewer and how do I get to it? Thanks. Ok I found the Event Viewer. Says in the Critical Section: Kernal-Power- System. Error Section: MSinstaller MSinstaller. Warnings: Kernal Events. Has some other stuff but this looked most important.
  16. Just got a new computer to run FSX...no add-ons. Windows 7... It's an Intel i5 6500 3.2 GHZ 6MB and a Nvidia GeForce GTX1060 3GB PCI-E. I'm running it on a 27 inch monitor and have tried every combination of settings known to man from FSX settings to the cards settings. Problem is it locks up after about 15 minutes when flying no matter the change in setting. Resolution was 1920x1080 and have changed that down for a little longer flight but in 20 minutes it locks up. I have the SP1 and SP2 installed. I'm wondering if the Nvidia card is strong enough to run FSX or should I get a 6GB card? Not sure if that would make a difference but am wondering about it. Could also "possibily" be I need to change some settings in the card but I'm not a wizard and not sure what. When I start FSX I get a message saying "Color scheme has changed to Windows 7 Basic"...not sure what that means if anything. Any suggestions? Thanks. Will
  17. Thanks John and Dave. I plan on just staying with the defaults...less problems for me but that's another story. John...so no activation concerns? All I remember is having to type in some numbers...product code which is still in my box deluxe version. So what's going to happen if it asks me for that? Will I get an error or something after I type it in? That's what I'm afraid of. I've heard the Steam version doesn't need that or something along those lines. As for the computer specs...yea have always wanted a Main Frame and it's about time I got one... right? Funny...in the end we all pretty much paid the price of one...upgrading all the time and never quite reaching that 7th Heaven. May as well avoid the upgrading headache and buy from the top shelf first go around....Ouch.
  18. Coming back to FSX after being out of the loop for a few years. I'm thinking about building a new computer to run FSX but am concerned about getting it to run. I know Microsoft doesn't support it anymore so is the boxed version obsolete ad useless? If it can't be activated it would seem to be...at least the boxed version. I've heard about downloading the Steam version but I'd rather have the physical disks if that's still possible and working. Have heard about possible activation work arounds but none sounded very promising...Otherwise I might consider X Plane. Is FSX boxed version still usable? Thanks.
