  1. i am not against VR controllers, when walking around or inside planes this is the time for Controllers.

When flying only something like leap motion would make sense, because you have to move your full arm & hand to touch the button like in reality.

I used Leap Motion a few years ago glued to my old HTC Vive, i really thought this is it.

Unfortunately, this has not evolved, probably the technology is not yet so far.

  2. i preffer mouse while using a real yoke a real throttle ect.

picking up a VR controller and aiming for a button or typing number combinations just takes to long.

In a VR cockpit with real hardware around your most important buttons are allready assigned to lets say the yoke, using your real fingers to operate all the buttons blind is easy.

    Thats just my own experience.

  3. interesting thread,

i am one of the 60fps believers people, but i tried yesterday this 30hz thing and i must say it looks

really nice and it is fluid, not 100% exsactly like real 60fps, but you have everyhing on Ultra, everything.

This mode is maybe something for movie creators, i will try this myself.

I have no experience with a G-Sync monitor but this sounds interesting too.

With all this nice infos i still preffer to fly in VR 😄 cant say more, its verboten!

  4. RTX3090, how would MSFS 2020 RUN?

coming from a 2080ti, you get the smoothest experience with the new 3090 no matter 30fps or 60fps, thats my experience.  It's simply the fastest horse and ready for the new directX 12 features.

Just wait for the first VR MSFS reviews! (if you are more interested, continue reading below)

This review compares the 2080ti vs. 3090 in VR racing games. Thats also my own experience, especially with Assetto Corsa Competizione, it runs ok with the 2080ti but

its a new world with the 3090, for the first time no Reprojection or Motion Smoothing needed.

Holy smokes do I wish they could do something about the ridiculous amount of time it takes to load!

Just did a 3 times start check:

almost exsactly 1min 22.sec to the welcome screen for me, from there it depends where you start.

I doubt this holy smoke 😉

Or would it be better to wait till the technique matures more.

waiting for what, the matrix? Do it now or dont do it.

You get hocked by VR or not, it dont depends on just one thing a headset have or dont have.

If you are completely new to VR i would go for the cheapest one or even better try first VR at someone who have it allready to experience VR by yourself.

I got hocked by VR 8 years ago with the Oculus DK1 (res. per eye 640×800)

right now the new G2 is praised mainly because of its high resolution,

but people forget that there are hardly any computers that can display this resolution in VR fluid (especially ina  tripple A game)

So beyound a new headset you need a decent computer, i would say you need a beefy system,

actually for VR you need the best of the best if possible.

    Enjoy VR!

How could that possibly be effective and not get you killed in DCS during intense critical combat scenarios?

well we are in MSFS and not DCS 😉 but i understand your point, i use real Yoke and Throttle in VR and they have enough buttons i can find blind, but at some point during the flight i like to use the mouse for openening maps,

or press some keys for entering numbers ect. with the mouse its done much faster in VR then picking up a VR controller and aiming for a button, but thats just my own experience.

I prefer LeapMotion hand tech with unmapped yoke, throttle, rudder interactions, but its something that has died over from the software dev implementation side.

yes i used leap motion a few years ago glued to my htc vive, i thought this is the future,

but like you said it died, i dont know why...

Today best use in VR sim beside the real yoke & throttle is still the mouse, nothing is faster.

    I miss the leap motion.

So what do you guys think is the biggest improvement over FSX/P3d EXCEPT the graphics?

For me its, jump in a plane put my VR headset on and enjoy flying ANYHWHERE in the world,

alone or multiplayer with friends, its so easy.

I tried this with the older sims too, multiplayer to complicated but i enjoyed it until it started to get very expensive,

you just cant buy every hectar in the world you maybe visit just once in your lifetime,

your friends didnt wanted to do it aynway 😜

certainly a neat experience, but I just couldn’t get into it as my main method of simming (both for flight and racing).

we are so different when it comes to VR,
for me the resolution never played such a big role,
The immersion that VR gives you and that you don't have over a normal monitor was also the most important factor: The flight feeling... landing is so much easier in VR.

Same with racing, i have lost the fun of racing with a standard monitor, you just dont feel like sitting in a real car.

I already had so much fun with the first pair of glasses (Dk1) 2012.

But as i said before, we are so different when it comes to VR experience.
