I own the ForeFlight app for my iPad, which is primarily a flight planning, charting and navigation program for real-world flying, but which works very well with flight simulation as well. It has the ability to link to both P3D and X-Plane, and display the aircraft’s position on it’s moving map. When taxiing, it will overlay the aircraft position on the official FAA taxi chart for the airport (for US airports).

I haven’t tried every updated V5 airport by any means, but in general the V5 default airports taxiway layout vs. real-world layout in ForeFlight has been very close at KDTW, KCLT, KJFK, KORD and KTEB just to name a few.

I’m sure there are probably exceptions, but in general, I think you’ll probably perfectly safe using default V5 airports when flying online. Certainly the default airports in V5 are much more accurate for 2020 conditions than would have been the case with Version 4, where many major airports would have required payware add-ons to have accurate runways and taxiways.

Alright thank you that was very informativ and helped me a lot! Thanks! 🙂

I believe some VATSIM artcc’s post a list of some compatible airport sceneries and some of them are free afcad files. There are tons of free afcads out there that match current runway/taxiway configurations.

So you say I only need to get those afcads and my airport problem is also solved in v4?

If yes, it would be great if you have a link for some more informations. Thanks so far! 🙂

If I understood you correctly, you were asking if you could go to a default airport in V5 and it would be reasonably accurate for when you are flying online. Not sure though, reading your message

If by that you mean can you use that aiport without neeeding to buy an add-on scenery and it would have the right taxiways - to that extent I think mostly yes. You would have to check which airports you wanted to go to though. It might not always be he case.

In v5 LM has updated and upgraded a lot of the geographical vector data (eg roads, streams, coastlines and rivers) and many default aiports. So for example where there may have been just a runway in a grass field with no taxiways in v4, now the taxiways have been added. I noticed that in SKMD for example, taxiways have been added and generic buildings added and also improved.

Hope this helps. Apologies if you were not asking about this at all of course. 🙂

    Ray

Thanks for your answer and sorry for the bad formulation of my question (maybe I should have read it again), but you got me right.

My main problem is that I'm currently student, so I don't earn much money, which makes it difficult for me to finance Flightsim for me. That's why I asked for the correct placement of the Airports in P3dv5, which would make my (online-) flightsim experience a lot more inexpensive.

Thanks for the help so far!

  4. Hello there!

I recently asked myself, if the airports in Prepar3dv5 are more accuratly placed then in v4. What I mean by this, is if it's possible to fly online (i.e. Vatsim) in Prepar3dv5 without having an expensive scenery to buy.

I'm currently using Prepar3d v4.5, where flying online without scenery isn't really possible, because the placement accuracy of Taxiways, Gates and Airport Buildings is very different to the "real".

So my question: Is it possible to fly online in v5 (like in XPlane 11) without having a scenery and without hinder others simulation experience?

  5. Hello,

When I fly in P3d and go into descend, the scenery is loading pretty slow. When I‘m on final Approach there are nearly no trees oder buildings, because they‘re loading in so slowley.

    Currently I own a i7 6700; GTX970; 16GB DDR5 RAM; an I‘m running P3d on a HDD.

My question is can I change this through Harware upgrade? And if yes, through what Harware (GPU, CPU, SSD,...)

    Thanks!

Correct. You can add the 750 to any other aircraft in the sim.

    Correct.

You can skip the Garmin trainer if you already reinstalled it and it's working ok.

Okay so I now reinstalled everything (Garmin-Trainer + RXP GTN750). When I started the RXP Installer, I got this message https://1drv.ms/u/s!AogtCnf9UPazkQgC3MnU1ijQcT-i?e=ktjBNr

Then I went on the f1 online page and requested a reactivation, which was succesfull. After that I got on with installing and changed nothing at all. The setup decided to place the files here https://1drv.ms/u/s!AogtCnf9UPazkQmx_mlGOtCbYB2_?e=Sc4UpR

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!AogtCnf9UPazkQoHs5t7RPWHiT7K?e=oxK1A1

I thought it would work no but it didn't. I have still the same problem as before, no navdata except the US (i.e. KJFK; KSFO, etc.), but no airports in germany (i.e. EDDF)

Yes, you were out of date. Let us know how it goes.

You can still uninstall and reinstall the 750 as per my instructions above.

Ah okay so even if i havn't the latest A2A update?

Then I'll try it now by your instructions, which say basicly don't change anything at the setup right? And when I'm at the installation of the Garmin-Trainer, is it important to install all Garmin products (i.e. G500, etc.)?

You should have a program under A2A called Cherokee Check for updates P3Dv4 That will update the Cherokee. Go to Windows Control Panel-Uninstall a Program and uninstall the Reality 750.

Reboot computer. Run the E-Comerce installer to reinstall. Select your Key file. "...-rexprxp-gtn750-fs.key". Then Validate. When the Browse for folder shows up there will be a C:\Reality XP folder highlighted (this is the default location), click ok. Do not change to another folder. C:\RealityXP is where the Reality XP GTN 750 installer (rxpGTN-FSIM-Setup.exe) will extract to. And also where the RXP-GTN750-FS.lic will go to. The installer will run automatically.

    Okay thanks i will try!

But currently i don't have that "check for updates" option, because i bought the Cherokee in A2A's old store and it looks like I first have to write them a message to transfer my Cherokee from their old store to the new one.

But I'll try when the transfer is completed and I can update the Cherokee.

    Thanks so far!

    GTN750 works without the GTN650.

As for the Navdata problem something is blocking it from working or installation failed somewhere.

If your GTN Garmin trainer shows the Navdata correctly then something in your Reality XP GTN750 installation went wrong.

Alright so it probably would be good just to reinstall everything again (A2A Cherokee & RXP GTN750)?

I also realized that I wasn't running the latest version of the A2A Cherokee 180. Could this be the problem?

Those are the correct ones. Use explorer options to unhide the file extensions.
    4bj4wOr.png

Did you reinstall the 650? To the default location?
Did the E-Commerce installer create the license files? You should have 2. Default location C:\RealityXP

    lEMfVBa.png

Alright so I unhide the file extensions and now the files look the same as yours (of course with the same content as i filed above).

I'm not sure what you mean with the GTN650. I only bought from the website the rxp GTN750 and there was only one installer and I also only got a product-key for the GTN750. At the Garmin-Trainer I also installed the GTN650 but I think this is normal cause I think you cannnot only install the 750.

I didn't found these license files... I found the Reality XP Folder under C:\ProgramData\Reality XP which shows this https://www.dropbox.com/s/rquc31khrl6lasx/rxp folder.JPG?dl=0

Also found on my D:Drive a second folder which is also named Reality XP which looks like this https://www.dropbox.com/s/zshbpv17qnoaqnp/rxp folder 2.JPG?dl=0

I got only a license file from the purchase called "...-rexprxp-gtn750-fs.key".

  13. @BillS511

I now reinstalled the whole GTN750 + Garmin Training Software and changed nothing at the install-locations, but the GTN750 still doesn't show any Navdata and if I click on flight data log it still just shows the message "Flight data log export failed".

Not quiet sure what you mean by RXP log files, but if  I go to the direction C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\Databases there's still nothing in the "logs" or "logs_ext" folder.

Absolutly no idea what's the problem, cause in the Garmin Trainer it still shows Waypoints and everythnig just in the simulator there's absolutly no Navdata.

I reinstalled now everything so the A2A Cherokee aswell as the RXP GTN/750 but it still got no Navdata 😕. Otherwise it works totally fine with the Plane. Whene I go at the GTN750 to Utilities → Logs → Flight Data Log, it says in the MSG window "Flight data log export failed".

Do you have an idea on how to fix that?

    Thanks!

I also found out that in the direction C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Trainers\Databases there's no files in the logs oder logs_ext folder. Is this normal?
