  1. Be sure to choose an ultra wide resolution for the "Full Screen Resolution" setting under Options -> General -> Graphics. Something like 2560x1080 or 3440x1440 Also set "Display Mode" to "Fullscreen" under Graphics settings. Hope that helps.
  2. First a brief(ish) back story. When I was freshman in HS my parents got a Gateway 2000 PC. One of the first software titles I begged them for was FS 4.0. I had been using the Sublogic FS on the Commodore 64 for a few years prior but FS 4.0 was the latest and greatest. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out of the box. I had no idea what graphics cards and device drivers were back then but I was determined to get FS 4.0 working. After several days of Gateway tech support and reading books of computer documentation it was working, albeit poorly. Fast forward to today and I’ve owned every copy of MS FS since. I wouldn’t call myself a hard core flight simmer but an FS enthusiast. Flight simulator combined my fascination with what each new generation of PCs could do with my fascination for planes and flight. I credit my nearly 20 year software development career to MS Flight Simulator (and my parents) because they got me interested in computers. When Microsoft announced that Flight Simulator development had ended I was genuinely bothered and a little depressed by the announcement. My interest in PC building faded over the years and I stopped using a PC (at home) all together. I finally gave up on Windows Phone too and figured, “if you can’t beat’em, join’em”, and bought an iPhone. I was actually impressed by what Apple had accomplished and “drank the kool-aid”. I proceeded to get an iPad and eventually a late 2013 iMac along with a number of other Apple products over the years. When MS announced FS2020 and I saw the trailer my jaw hit the floor. To be completely honest I wasn’t sure if I believed the news. I haven’t been this excited about building a PC or getting a software title in more then a decade. It’s been a long wait filed with news updates, forum reading, and Google searches for beta leaks. I’ve also spent the last 6 months relearning what I need/want out of a new PC build. Intel vs. AMD, graphics card performance benchmarks and whoa the prices $$$$. I’m holding out on doing the PC build until the latest CPU and graphics hardware has been released by all parties for 2020. I was also unexpectedly but pleasantly caught off guard the by the Aug. release date for FS2020. I thought for sure it would be Oct. or Nov. Now, to get to the title of the thread. Knowing that I wouldn’t have that new PC on release day I began cleaning house (HD) on the old iMac. I cleared away 200GB of storage and proceeded to dive into something I’d heard of called “Bootcamp” for Mac. I partitioned the drive and installed the latest copy of Windows 10. Last night (all night) I downloaded FS2020. I figured it wouldn’t work or would be a horrible experience but I had nothing to loose and just had to see FS2020 for myself. I’m happy to say that it works better than I expected. Don’t get me wrong the new PC build is forthcoming but FS2020 running on a high-end 2013 iMac is flyable. Settings are Medium to Low and there is some stuttering and popping of scenery and I’m probably getting 15-20 FPS but none of that could wipe the giant grin off my face as I flew around my home town this morning. The view inside and outside the cockpit was impressive even at the lower end settings. I can hardly wait to build that new PC build and experience FS2020 on a PC built for it. In the meantime, I’ll be putzing around lots of places in GA planes with a giant grin on my face while my iMac cooling fans scream in the background under such a torturous load. Well done Asobo Studios and thanks to MS for resurrecting this franchise! I look forward to many more years of MS Flight Simulator! 27in iMac 2013 Specs: Quad-core Core i7 3.5 GHz nVidia GeForce 780m (yes mobile) with 4gb video ram. 8 GB system ram SSD HD 2560x1440 resolution
  3. Anyone else notice the two screenshots, with FPS and benchmark info, from "GoFasterS4"? Screenshots appear to be 1440P resolution. One is 20FPS the other is 18FPS. Both appear fairly consistent according to the tiny FPS graph. The benchmark stats are a little hard to read but here's what my eyes see: [20 FPS Shot] GPU: utilization 99% | approx 7400GB ram usage | 2018Mhz (core or memory clock) CPU: 43% RAM: 14955 [18 FPS Shot] GPU: utilization 100% | maybe 7000+ GB ram usage | 2328Mhz (core or memory clock) CPU: 20 or 28% RAM: 14389 The benchmark data seems to indicate the low 20 FPS and 18 FPS is a GPU limitation with this system config. Would be nice to know the system specs esp. graphics card for "GoFasterS4". Personally, I'm way, way overdue for a new PC build but I just can't pull the trigger until I know what components will give me the most FPS bang for my buck with this sim. With new AMD and graphics hardware due out this fall I guess I'll just have to keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting....
