MSFS won't rememeber 'Full Screen' setting
EDDB2020 replied to JYW's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
You saved my day, thanks! Typically I never use that option but had it switched on recently while making a lot of 'dramatic' screenshots for a project. -
MSFS won't rememeber 'Full Screen' setting
EDDB2020 replied to JYW's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
The same thing here. In addition the click spots for all instruments in the cockpit (not VR) are no longer centered but are always slightly to the right or left. This has been going on for about two weeks now. It's really annoying when you want to enter something on the FMC. -
Cool Abandoned Airfield in Berlin

Anyone interested in getting a scenery mod for that location with a few parkings and maybe a helipad? -
Continual CTDs when zooming in world map
EDDB2020 replied to scotchegg's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
With or without REX makes no difference to me, but I have been able to reproduce several times that I have CTD if I click too early/fast in the world map before the satellite image has been loaded. If I am patient and wait for the satellite image to load, then it works. However, something does not seem to be running smoothly in the background at the moment. For 2-3 days now, when editing an airport, I only see the AI buildings at the first project start, and never again after reloading the project. Restarting the sim brings the AI buildings back once. When flying, on the other hand, there are no problems. I have never had that before ... -
Tombouctou/Timbuktu (GATB) ILS RWY 07
EDDB2020 replied to EDDB2020's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
@qqwertzde My airport mods, I call them fakeports 😀, are just simple enhancements based on default assets but always better than the AI defaults. -

@regis9 @qqwertzde Thank you for your research, these are really good finds and that should clear this up. -
Tombouctou/Timbuktu (GATB) ILS RWY 07
EDDB2020 replied to EDDB2020's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
@regis9 That's always a possibility, of course. I don't think it's that likely though, why downgrade without needing to, especially since the airport has obviously undergone upgrades recently. If you compare Google with Bing Maps, you will see that there is also a brand new Military Apron. By the way, there is also a VOR or NDB opposite this Apron. That's also not documented in the 2017/18 maps, which you can really call ancient now. Let's see if someone can contribute something here, the Mali AIP already not. Cheers, Stefan -
Tombouctou/Timbuktu (GATB) ILS RWY 07
EDDB2020 replied to EDDB2020's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)
@somiller yes, but these charts are old, from 2017. There is no doubt that these are ILS installations: https://postimg.cc/gallery/KGSQHpr -
Hello! As I'm editing GATB right now I saw installations on the ground typically used for an ILS on runway 07, the glideslope antenna (with shadow) left of the runway and the localizer at the end of the runway. Both objects can be seen on Google as well as Bing images. There is no information coming from the Sim Nav database, unfortunately the Navigraph charts are outdated (2017) and Chartfox as well as Airmate provide charts from 2018 for the RNAV approaches but none for an ILS approach. The Mali AIP seems to be a deserted website and was of no help. I've already searched the web and the only hint I could get was this page http://www.pilotnav.com/airport/GATB with a link to a paywall site https://www.dauntless-soft.com/products/simplates/GetSimplates.asp?Airport=Timbuktu+Airport&Plate=ILS+Z+or+LOC+Rwy+07&ICAO=GATB&IATA=TOM&FAA=&CountryName=MALI&Location=Timbuktu%2c+MALI&NoPlatesThisAirport=17&NbPlatesThisCountry=113&NbPlatesAllSimplates=125878 Not an option. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers, Stefan

You're right, it looks like they've solved the problem for now. It can't hurt to remember the trick for the next time.😄

Set your data bandwidth to max. 40 Mbit/s, it works for me (stable) and for some other guys who tried it today ... https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/your-bandwidth-is-too-low-february-march-2023/573113/655

Did you recently connect a bluetooth device to your pc, e. g. a keyboard? I had exactly the same kind of ctd for weeks and after a lot of frustration I was finally able to predict when that would happen: my bt keyboard went into sleep mode after 10 minutes, pressing the first button then, the bt keyboard woke up, froze the sim while the sound was still playing for minutes and finally a ctd. Now I'm back with a wired keyboard and never saw that problem again.
-
I have the problem too, since yesterday sporadically, since today with every sim start. However, it can be reliably avoided if I select Bing lastest or Google Maps as the source with the MSFS Map Enhanced Mod. Maybe they are running into problems with the default image server.

Found the reason for my regular CTD today by observation. It can be that simple sometimes, no matter if with the vanilla version or with 500 activated airports, 22 libraries and FSLTL > so fat orchestra. My BT Keyboard goes to sleep after 30 minutes and when it reconnects, very good to see by the LEDs on the keyboard, then I have a long pause (about 30 seconds) and if I'm lucky the sim continues to run, otherwise the CTD just comes. This is reliably reproducible. Seems to be a known problem: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/ctd-or-long-pause-when-using-bluetooth-keyboard/552068 Otherwise, the Sim is more stable than it has been for a long time, so you can't complain.
