Updated OpenStreetMap and Google Maps themes:

I uploaded a modified version of the map configuration right here: https://www.littlenavmap.org/downloads/Map Themes/

There is a French and German OpenStreetmap using the respective language and Latin characters for the names.

Furthermore there are modified Google Maps themes which use the language set in LNM to avoid labels in random languages on the map.

New Zealand topographic 50 and 250 maps for LNM.

These maps are an invaluable resource for navigating in the NZ backcountry. I wasn't able to find an existing version online so I threw together by own.

Requires a (free) account & API key on data.linz.govt.nz

Captains,

I don't know if you have been using them already, but I have made a bunch of new maps for LNM, which make some widely popular map and chart data accessible from LNM. I think you'll find them useful too.

To install the maps, download and unzip the file, then copy and paste the folder data found inside it to the location where you have your copy of LNM installed. Say yes to overwrite, when asked. You'll find my maps in a drop-down list of available maps, below all other ones and marked Custom, as shown on the image below.

Maps included:

  • Google Maps (Default)
  • Google Maps (Satellite)
  • Google Maps (Terrain)
  • U.S. VFR Sectionals
  • U.S. IFR Enroute Low
  • U.S. IFR Enroute High
  • U.S. IFR Area Charts
  • U.S. Terminal Area Charts (TAC)
  • U.S. Helicopter Route Charts

Disclaimer: All map data is provided free of charge and publicly accessible.

Enjoy!

All we need now is the weather layers/IFR zones you can select in Skyvector!

All planned for 2.4:

The 2.4 milestone is kinda overloaded. Still have to weed out.

Excited for future for sure then. I loved the weather icons/arrows at first but I seem to notice now that whether (sorry) related or not every time I switch to LNM window now there is an hour glass symbol and I have to wait 10 seconds  for it to work again. I suspect a setup file is linked to my back up drive which is USB and sleeps a lot. I moved LNM from it to an SS Stick but still the issue. Also generally the app is getting slower and slower to move and zoom. I suspect it is just trying to access and display too much data so I'm seeing what I can turn off as it's no longer the zippy speed monster it was a year or 2 ago. (To pan or zoom the world if I forget to turn off all airport/nav/airways overlays I will just get stuck and hang.

This is not a complaint I reckon there is a file it is accessing off that back up drive or I have too much showing right now.
