NVIDIA’s FPS-Increasing DLSS 3 Tech Is About To Get Even Better, Major Improvements To Image Quality In Games

"Improvements To Image Quality In Games"

games? I guess that excludes MSFS then 😊

    ..............

NVIDIA DLSS 3 'Fine Wine' Update Coming Soon: Improved Image Quality, Reduced Ghosting, Better Edge Smoothness Across Multiple Games

During its CES 2023 keynote, NVIDIA announced that a major update to DLSS 3 was due by the end of this quarter. Now, we have a small hint at what this update might bring and from the looks of it, DLSS 3 is going to shift into high gear!

NVIDIA announced in its blog post that thanks to continued training on its AI Supercomputer, new updates will soon be rolled out to improve DLSS Super Resolution, DLAA, and the latest DLSS 3 Frame Generation technology across multiple games. And these benefits will not only be limited to just DLSS 3 titles but will be applicable to all GeForce RTX gamers. So even if you are running older RTX 20 or RTX 30 GPUs, you will see the benefit from the latest updates which include the following improvements:

AI network enhancements for DLSS Frame Generation that better take advantage of game engine data, improving UI stability and image quality during fast movement.
An updated AI network for DLSS Super Resolution Ultra Performance mode, improving fine detail stability and overall image quality.
An updated AI network for NVIDIA DLAA that improves image quality, reduces ghosting, and improves edge smoothness in high-contrast scenarios.

Thanks Turbo for posting this. It helped with my decision on switching to an nVidia 4080 instead of waiting on an AND 7900XTX.

  2. I finally made my purchase decision and went with nVidia this time. The heat problems with the 7900 XTX and being able to DLSS 3.0 by going to nVidia, plus the 4080 having much better VR performance than AMD cards made my decision for me. I might now maybe will try out my G2's in MSFS. I found an nVidia Titanium and Black 4080 at Bestbuy for $1199.00 so I am not going to complain about the cost either. It will be at my local BB store on Sunday. The 4080 should pair nicely with my 5800x3D.

  3. Did we ever decide IF rhe extra vram of the 7900 XTX is worth it over the 4080 in MSFS? I have been patiently waitingand checking supplies and still can't find a 7900XTX. I can get my hands on a 4080 though.

I am not interested in an AMD vs nVidia debate as I have used both and had good luck with both

In the CJ4 using the DEL choice with the Discontinuities usually does the trick - also for dual waypoint entries.  Delete the one that has no distance listed to the next waypoint.

There are some Discontinuities that can't be removed, as that particular approach requires a vector to the IAF.  In that case just "vector yourself" to the that point and the FMS will pick it up and continue the approach.

I think this is what I rasn into on the last try as the next leg was the start of the Approach into KESS. I didn't have LNM installed yesterday to try to come up with my own Vector so I just exited out and flew something else. I have since installed LNM to help when needed.

Yeah it's basically like telling the computer to connect one waypoint with the next.  I think on some fmcs you can also just press DEL and then click the blank line.

I tried doing that but it gave me an error. I will get back to again this afternoon. I flew this aircraft some in the early days of MSFS and then kind of got away from it since back then my H/C Bravo was basically useless with it. I am now trying it out again but finding a few stones in the path to stumble over as I go.

    I presume you mean Discontinuities

Just select the fix underneath and then click the button (LSK) next to the blank space

Yes Ryan, that's what I meant. Not enough coffe this morning yet. I will go back later today and see if I can figure out what you are saying to do. Do you mean to click the button next to the Next waypoint and the click the button next to the error? I thin I tried doing that and got an error. I also tried to manually type the next fix in keyboard and then click the button next to the error.

  7. Since the latest Beta I have wanted to get back to flying the CJ4. BUT, I am having issues with the FMS and can't figure out what I am missing. I have tried using the World Map  and manually entering flight plans but both end up with Incontinuities, and then I cannot get rid of said Incontinuities. I have watched a couple of Youtube videos about the FMS but what they suggest doesn't seem to work on this version for some reason. I have also found that while trying to follow Jaydee's WT CJ 4 checklist FMS options differ from what is now available. Is there a newer Tutoral video since the latest CJ4 release?

That's impressive.  With my 12700K at 4.5 GHz and my old 1080 ti I only had about 45 fps at 1440p.

With the new 4080 I've got triple digits with frame gen enabled outside of big cities.  Maybe a little overkill haha.

But not really as I also use VR (that being said FG does not yet work in VR).

I forgot to add that is running with FSR 2. Before they enabled that I was using FSR 1 at the driver level with basically the same results. I do admit I don't fly Tubes into big cities so that may contribute to my FPS.

  9. I was checking on availability this morning and the scaplers cleaned out Newegg and Bestbuy as soon as they hit. In a way I am kind of glad they did. Right now with a 5800x3d and a 6800 XT I can run all Ultra 200/200 at 50% of my monitors refresh rate, 167, so get just over 80 fps in "most" places, in 2K, 2560x1440. That is my monitors max resolution. My mind tells me that the 7900 XTX is a waste of money for my system, but I stll kind of want one.

Nope. Where are you getting these specs from? Can you post a link?

All specs I can find list the card as Gen 4.0.

    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7900-xtx.c3941

    Bus interface: PCIe 4.0 x16

    https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/tuf-gaming/tuf-rx7900xtx-o24g-gaming/techspec/

    PCI Express 4.0

The card was rumored to be PCIe 5, but that didn't happen.

I guess I will stand corrected as I can't seem to find the site now. I am glad that is Gen 4 as I would rather have the 7900 anywy.

No, this is not true - you can absolutely use the 7900XTX on a Gen4 board!

You may be confusing this with the Ryzen 7000 series CPUs - these DO need a new motherboard and RAM. But not the GPU, that you can drop into your current system

If you read the Specs, they say Gen 5. I could have used my 6800XT with my old Gen2 board but it wouldn't get the full performace from it. I figure the same using a Gen 5 card in a Gen 4 m/b.

I would certainly wait for the market release of the AMD RX 7900 XT(X) cards before buying a RTX 4080. Not because I suggest that you buy the AMD card instead, but because nVIDIA will not be able to keep those prices up for the RTX 4080 as soon as the AMD cards are out. I guess they will drop some serious percents after the release of the AMD cards...

I was going to wait for the AMD card until I found out I would need to replace my motherboard and probably ram as well for it. The 7900XTX will require pci-e ver 5 nd my current board only has ver 4. The 4080 works with ver 4. That said I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on the 4080, there is one In-Stock 2.5 hours away. My current system (5800 x3D, 6800 XT) runs MSFS in Ultra almost always at 82fps, 50% refresh rate @ 164mhz at 2560x1440 res, my monitors max. I keep thinking that's alot of $$$ for something I might not even see any difference with.

  13. I have the Airbus 320 stick from Thrustmaster and figured it can't be too hard, right. Changed the settings to Helicopter in Options and tried the G2 training. Boy, was I ever wrong. I can go up and down just fine. But if I twist the stick I spin and I cannot figure out how to go forward at all. I am also going to have to lower the Sensitivity a bunch.

Anyone else with AMD graphics card also experiencing heavy stutters with the new version? The old version was butter smooth, but with the update my sim became virtually unusable.

    Working fine here with a 6800XT, all Ultra 200/200 @ 2560x1440.

  15. OK, here are my thoughts so far. I flew the Beaver a bit and it was fun. I then did a short flight in the TBM and all was fine with that too. Now my comment on performance. I had been using AMD's Super Resolution (driver level) before this update, setting the sim res to 1920x1080 which the AMD driver upscaled to 2560x1440, with monitor set to 164mhz and sim set to 50%. That always gave me a solid 82fps with settings on Ultra with LODS at 200. Everything was great as far as I was concerned. After the update I turned off Super Res and went with the FSR 2.0 and brought the sim res back up to 2560x1440, monitor and all other options the same. Framerates have fallen as far as into the high 40's now at the lowest but back to 82 fps depending on what was going on. I think the average was in high 60's for the flight, which is just fine. I never had any stuttering and the overall picture is better with much more depth than before. Mikey Likes It.

  16. I was offered 22h2 a couple of weeks ago and tried to do the update but for some reason it Failed on me, That was a firdt for me on an update.I then went out of town for a few days and I have been waiting for it to show up again but so far nothing. I do not want to go through a reinstall of Win11 to get it but would like to get it again through Windows Update, but can't find a way to get it to trigger again. Any ideas?

I'm not seeing an option for FSR. Am I locked out because I have a Nvidia card or am I not looking in the right place?

FSR is the AMD version of DLSS. You will not see it with your nVidia card.

I left home yesterday on a visit to Seattle and will not get back home until next Tuesday night. I hope you guys have found all the bugs and asobo has released an update by then. I cant wait to try FSR 2. I have been using FSR 1 with great results since they enabled it a few months ago.
