Similar to regis9, I started setting up new separate folders for 2024 mods, but it’s starting to look like a lot of duplicate files will need to be maintained. Like many others, I currently have folders set up in an Add-Ons Linker library for Aircraft, Scenery, Utilities, Airports, etc. with appropriate sub-folders. I want to use this single set of folders for both AL 2020 and AL2024 and minimize duplication of files within folders.
The MSFS add-ons universe seems to include three basic types. Although I list all three below, it is No. 3 where I am getting stumped.
(1) One Add-on “certified” compatible with both MFS2020 and MSF2024. I think these can be managed with one set of folders - just link a chosen add-on to either sim via either AL 2020 or Al 2024.
(2) Add-ons that currently remain compatible with MSFS2020 only. This is the majority of my current add-ons. It seems this the situation can be handled by a single set of add-on folders utilizing the AL “hide” feature when accessing add-ons via AL 2024.
(3) Add-ons compatible with MSFS2020 only or MSFS2024 only. For example, iniBuilds provides two versions and downloads for the A300-600: one for MSFS2020 and one for MSFS2024 and both have the same file name so cannot put in same aircraft folder. Other add-ons are following the same procedure with separate downloads for each sim. This is where my problem exists and some guidance is requested.
