Hi everyone, I've been scouring the forums here and at LM trying to see if anyone is any closer to fixing this atrocious dynamic lighting problem. LM blames PMDG, PMDG seems to blame LM, and meanwhile we can't get decent performance at critical stages in flight. I absolutely love PMDG, their aircraft as well as customer service, but until this lighting is fixed, I just can't fly at night. So, I'm either relegated to using v3 or x-plane. Where are we at with coming up with a fix for this? I remember one of the early 777 updates seemed to fix the problem but I think it was scrapped for some reason or another. It was too bad because I didn't have any problems after that update, and now I do, especially in the NGX. Please do something about this. John -
Hi all, I have a problem where by the flood lights in the FSL A320X vanish depending on the angle I'm viewing (see video below). Also the same thing happens with the taxi lights on PMDG's 777. Does anyone have an idea of how to solve or further diagnose?

Hello there, my biggest problem with P3dV5 at the moment is the broken lighting at addon airports. Of course, some of them have been properly fixed, but others cause problems because PBR aircraft don't reflect light (even though the airport was ported to v5 by the developer) and in some cases, airports just won't be provided in the short term (for example Imaginesim refusing to fix ZSPD for P3dv5 at the moment...). I've read about the new parameters and frickled around a little bit with effect files but no success up to now. Has anyone accomplished this yet? Or could somebody explain to me, what exactly the difference between P3dv4 und v5 is in regard to dynamic lighting and how it can be fixed? Given the speed, that a lot of developers took to fix their airports, it can't be so difficult, I assume. Thanks alot Adrian

PMDG models require Dynamic Lighting in order for your lights to see the tarmac. Why do they insist on only making their lights work in this fashion, when Dynamic Lights is so heavy on performance? Does anyone know of an alternative to get PMDG lights working on the tarmac without Dynamic Lighting enabled? That would be awesome and I would never have to worry about turning on that performance hurting setting on again. -
P3D V4 XP11 user coming to P3D V4... need some advice...

Okay, I'm a greedy pig and I want it all ! I use Aerofly FS2 for VR, X-Plane has been my primary sim for past few years and I was in FSX before that.. so now i'm adding P3D V4 to my sim collection mainly for widebodies (and hopefully the ATR-72-600 when it comes out).. So I have some knowledge of ESP platform and what to expect.. but absolutely no experience with P3D as such.. so lot of questions on what add-ons to get etc.. need all of your guidance and advice to get me onboard ! My system specs in my signature (i7 4.4GhZ, GTX 1070) are pretty decent.. and budget is not an issue.. so I need to know what stuff to buy to get the best eye candy.. 1. The first add-on I have set my eyes on is the QW 787.. how is the performance, esp at night w/dynamic lighting? why doesn't it have wheel chocks like PMDG 747? 2. Is dynamic lighting still a performance issue in 4.2? will 4.3 fix it? Can i turn OFF shadows, clouds etc at night to allow dynamic lighting? I absolutely need bright apron lights for my Asian airports at night.. so turning OFF dynamic lighting is not an option for me.. 3. Do i absolutely need PTA or will the new tomato mod suffice or even be better? 4. I had MyTraffic 6 in FSX.. should i reinstall that or is Just flight global a better option? if so, why? 5. I had REX in FSX.. stick with it or get AS16 + cloud art? 6. Will bring over FTX global and HD trees for sure. do i need ORBX vectors/regions/etc? I mostly fly long hauls.. 7. GSX - looking forward to level 2 expansion.. but in its current version, does it provide VDGS or only marshaller.. didn't see too many youtube videos with VDGS.. also, the parking is always misaligned with the markings.. is this something one can configure using GSX parking editor? I used to be able to do this in AES.. 8. Can i get 25-30 fps on final approach into KSFO HD on QW 787 with medium graphic settings? Just want to know where 4.2 stands on performance at this point.. 9. Will get chaseplane for camera system & FSUIPC for multiple joystick profiles. 10. any other must have add-ons for long haul wide body flights? I meant other than aircraft add-ons.. like smart utility tools that enhance the sim.. for e.g does chase plane do replays the way FSrecorder used to do? -
Why is it that dynamic lighting only works at night? I had been trying to figure out a way to have the dynamic lighting working for 24 hours, why? Because in cloudy conditions, the scenery would look dark and the aircraft lights won't illuminate the ground (which is unrealistic), not only aircrafts but sceneries that support dynamic lighting won't work until night time. I honestly don't mind the fps problem, I had set mine to 8x mmsa and things are going just fine. Can someone please help and provide me with a file within the Prepar3D folder that I could modify? Thanks!

Hello everybody I recently noticed something bad in my sim. On some Airports (for example Orbx LDDU, FlyTampa EHAM), all Simobjects (My planes but also for example GSX vehicles) appear to be completely dark when i set the time to night (See the Pictures). The textures are there but they just don't receive any lightning from the floodlight on the airport. Also, No light comes to the inside of the cockpit. It only doesn't work on some airports (For example no problems in Aerosoft LSZH). Has anyone an idea what the problem could be and how i could solve it ? It happens to PBR-Planes as well as non-PBR-Planes. The problem also occurs with Tomatoshade enabled and disabled. I have dynamic lightning and HDR lightnind set to On in the settings. I doubt this is of interest to most users as Norfolk International is not a big popular airport. However, I live locally and fly in and out weekly so I'm very glad you created it. Although it's my understanding that it is P3Dv4 compatible, the runway lighting at night is not right. It looks cartoonish and not real at all. Would it be possible to give this a look and see if you get the same results? Thanks, Don
