We are pleased to announce that the new AVSIM File Library will open sometime during the day of June 1st. Between now and then, we request that all upload authors continue to add files to the existing library system. They are being ported over daily to the new library, so that when the new library comes online, it will be fully synced with the uploads made between now and then. Statistics and images are also being ported over, so that no data will be lost during this transition period. In the coming days we will be posting images, helps and hints on the use of the new file system so that our community members can immediately put the library to use. Keep on top of File Library news and developments in the File Library Transition forum here.

Hi all, I was wondering if you should deselect every item in your Scenery library if you're not planning to fly there. My FSX start-up time is pretty long, so i guess disabling/deleting a few items could shorten that. But since i sometimes fly in Europe and sometimes in USA and several ORBX areas around the world, that would mean a lot of work. Now i only pay attention to the sequence/order of items. Does FSX performance (loading time wise AND framerate/FPS whilst in-flight) suffer from a long scenery library, or does FSX only load the scenery for the region you fly in, and then in-flight dynamicly load scenery as to where you are heading/flying? Just curious! Hope you guys can help me out. Mark

We have just opened the new AVSIM Video Library. The video library is an aggregator (for lack of a better word), where videos hosteb by YouTube, Yahoo Video, Google Video, etc. The purpose of this library is to provide a showcase for video makers, commercial members, and those wishing to share their flight sim experience in one place. Now, instead of having to search through all the various video servers, users and video makers alike have a one stop place to catalog their creations and provide them to their community. The videos are not hosted by AVSIM, but simply cataloged by the contributors and made available to their community members. A test video in the new Video Library can be found here: Test And important feature of this new video library is that commercial members can place videos of their products and upcoming products in the library for the AVSIM community to view and discuss. Another important feature is that everytime a video is placed in the library, the pertinent information and a link to the video page is opened in the forums. This provides users in the forum notification of the video availability and a place to hold longer discussions about the video or product. We have placed a number of categories in the new library and are looking for suggestions on others. If you have categories that you think should be entered, please respond to the Categories topic in the HANGAR CHAT forum. The new video library can be found by going to the FEATURES tab above and selecting VIDEO LIBRARY. If can also be found at http://forum.avsim.net/videos

AVSIM has launched its new library design effort. A couple of weeks ago, when the 2nd generation library was launched and was promptly shut down due to load issues, we committed to undertake a future design effort that would allow the community and stake holders to participate. The effort to build that new library system, with the input of our community is now underway. This effort is being lead by our File Library Management team, reporting to Jerel Hayes, Director of Library Operations. We have opened a new forum to provide the communication channel for all participants. If you are interested and would like to be considered for participation, check into the forum and let us know of your interests. The new forum can be found here.

Dear guys and girls,I have a issue with FSX that for the life of me, I cannot find any replication online via google. My problem is pretty simple, I installed Ultimate Terrain X Europe and Ground Environment X Europe together, I then decided to install the first volume of the Horizon Simulation (VFR GenX). My scenery library has the VFR GenX at the top and beneath it is UTX. When I fly around in my VFR photo area, the textures for UTX display all around me, but just underneath me the textures load from the VFR GenX package.. I have looked in my scenery.cfg file to see if there is any problems with the ordering of areas, VFR GenX is right at the bottom and above it is the UTX textures. I used a utility built for FS2002/2004 for re ordering and fixing scenery entry problems (FSTscenery from Avsim). I hope the attached pictures says a thousands words as I may have not explained it very well. In a nutshell, how do I stop UTX's textures loading on top of VFR GenX's? Any help would be very much appreciated!! Thanks in advance//

I have been trying to download the 767 Habitat for Humanity repaint for the past few days with no luck. The screen for the download comes up for a few seconds but then I get the "Internet Exporer cannot display the webpage" message and never get the download dialog box. Here's what I've tried so far. This happens with or without Download Manager This also happens with or without a firewall This also happens with any other file I try to download from Avsim I CAN download without problems from other sites Is there a problem or is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance fro any help. Fred

Hi there! Apologies for not posting this in the "Library" forum, but I'm currently unable to do so due to being a new member. I don't appear to be able to download any files from the AVSim Library at all. They all become immediately corrupted. I'm running Windows 10 version 1703 build 15063.483, non-Insider. The issue persists across all browsers I've tried so far - IE, Edge, Firefox and Chrome - albeit the case that it manifests itself slightly differently in each: IE (11.483.15063.0) and Edge (40.15063.0.0 with EdgeHTML 15.15063) both ask to download the file, then when I click "Save" immediately say "[filename] couldn't be downloaded". On pressing "Retry", the download completes suspiciously fast, and then produces a corrupted .zip file. Chrome (59.0.3071.115 64-bit) allows the download as usual, but produces the corrupted .zip file. It acts, however, as if the file is perfectly normal. Firefox (Aurora, 55.0b6 32-bit) refuses to even let me click the "Save file" popup, instead offering an error: This issue appears no matter what file I am downloading. Interestingly, it also appears when trying to explore any non-plaintext file in ZipDive! - for instance, PDFs come up with "This PDF document might not be displayed correctly" in Firefox and "PDF unreadable" in Edge - but plaintext ZipDive! files are A-OK. I note that the page talks about FTP, but the linked page is a standard 443 PHP page, not an FTP link - might this be the root of the issue, trying to send FTP data over a SSL connection rather than an FTP one? Appreciate any help. Thanks, Curtis
